About Mary and Melissa
Two sisters inherited this property in 2008 from our dear dad, a builder who constructed it himself from the foundation up in 1954. The house was renovated and refurnished in 2007-8, but we kept some of the loving touches Dad built in, like the vintage main bath and the knotty pine kitchen cabinetry. We spent our own childhoods in this neighborhood and on this beach, and we hope your family makes memories here as fond as ours. As dog lovers ourselves, we welcome well-cared for, well-behaved pets (per our pet agreement) - they'll enjoy their time here too!
Mary and Melissa purchased this House in 2008
Why Mary and Melissa chose Clinton
Beach and marsh views, a variety of birds and wildlife, and good neighbors.
What makes this House unique
A hilltop setting with plenty of privacy and room to play sets this property apart from most beach cottages in the local area, which are crowded together on tiny lots down near sea level. The house has a large front yard and parking well off the street for 3 cars with room to spare. Beach access is deeded and shared only with our longtime neighbors, offering an exceptional degree of privacy.

The location is excellent with easy access to their private beach. We stayed for over a month and the house was great and is very well equipped. The owners and property manager were friendly and easy to work with.
Great stay. Thanks Meg.
The place was great but there was a peculiar odor in most rooms.
Thank you for letting us know. If you can provide any further details that will help us determine the source and resolve this.
All the best,
Mary & Melissa
This property felt like home. It was very comfortable and provided everything you could possibly need and more. The kitchen had every pot, pan, dishware item, drinking glass, flatware and gadget you could think of. If you forgot to bring something, they had it there. The dishwasher was a Godsend as were the washer and dryer. The beach is beautiful, private and just steps away. We had a fabulous time with our family, friends, and especially with our children and grandchildren. We got to meet the property owners and the property manager and found them to all be lovely people, warm and friendly. We stayed for one month and would definitely go back next year.
Delighted you enjoyed your stay! We were happy to meet you and your husband, and (almost) your cat! :-) We’d be delighted to welcome you again - to CT, or to our FL property, if you ever want to spend some time on the East Coast! All the best, Mary & Melissa
Very nice house close to the beach. Lots and lots of amenities - the sisters have thought of everything. Thank you both, and Meg, for taking good care of us and your property.
Our third time.
A bit less organized than in the past, but it was well worth the slight bit of confusion in getting the home "opened for the season". We enjoyed our stay, and it was still an excellent place for our 92 year old, mobility challenged mother-in-law. Thanks Maureen (and Meg!!)
Jack, thanks so much for your patience while we ironed things out - we’re delighted you enjoyed your visit, and that we could accommodate your mother-in-law. Meg, once again, you’re the BEST.
Everything we needed
We chose this as our annual fall vacation spot this year and of all the houses we have stayed at, this was by far the best equipped for our needs. First of all it was extremely clean, had plenty of space for the 5 of us and the walk to the beach was closer than I had anticipated. The house is literally equipped with anything and everything one may forget to pack and even had the proper utensils to eat the many blue crabs that we caught and prepared back at the house. The kayak and rowboat where also a bonus and also helped me catch my only striped bass during the trip.
There’s plenty to do within a 30-45 minute drive. Delight in our area's art galleries and theatre, history, museums, outlet shopping and village antiquing, farm stands and orchards, challenging golf, beachcombing, kayaking, boating, fishing, excellent local restaurants - even a steam train and riverboat to take you back in time for dinner or a daytrip. You’ll be within 45 minutes of the Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun casinos, featuring top entertainment as well as gaming year round, and less than an hour from historic Mystic Seaport. And a quick two hour trip away from either NYC or Boston.
