About Rick Doucette
Ogontz Arts event center is a privately owned facility on Ogontz Lake supporting many different arts organizations. During our summer season, children, families, and professionals in different arts fields gather to create and educate in music, dance and theatre. Ogontz also owns two private properties (distanced from its camp operation) that it rents to help defer the costs of its arts programming. Renting this property from us supports this venture.

Cozy home in a breathtaking location
Had a wonderful winter stay at this property!!
Some of the furniture seems to have been updated from what I can tell from the photos.
The house itself was very spacious and had such warmth. Our group LOVED how open the living room was. The wood fireplace was generously loaded with wood when we arrived, which was perfect as it was a particularly chilly day.
The location is absolutely out of this world. You step outside and can feel the quiet. We saw the stars clearer than we ever have before (even saw a few shooting stars during our stay).
The owners provided clean linens, dishes/cookware, toilet paper, and they take the trash at the end of the stay. Very appreciative of all of this.
The only thing that I would caution is if you're staying in the winter: be careful on the driveway. Part of it takes you up and down a hill which was fairly icy during our time there. I noticed that someone came to lay sand down on our last day, so they do seem to maintain it to a degree.
Lastly, to the owners: thank you so much for opening your home to us! It was an amazing experience and we look forward to returning in the future!
Beautiful site, insides need major help!
Pros: The location is lovely! The log house is nice and the porch is great. The linens seemed clean. The fireplace was great too.
Cons: The house itself is in major need of cleaning and replacement of torn couches, stained carpets, "tired" beds. The kitchen was supplied with plenty of things but they were scattered in various places making it difficult to find (even silverware was in multiple drawers). Nothing matched from the sheets to the dishes. It was a potpourri of "stuff". The porch furniture was ragged. Baseboard heaters were efficient but filthy and had broken ends in places.
We were very disappointed but also thought that with just a little inflow of money to remove carpets and replace with hard flooring, new furnishings, a really good cleaning, decluttering and organizing etc., the place would be stunning... lots of potential but not a good outcome at this time.
Nancy, thank you for your response. I regret you did not have a five-star experience with us. We pride ourselves on our strong reputation of excellence, and have already started to explore, and address some of the issues you identified.
Warm home in great location
Toasty warm home had everything we could need for a long weekend! Beautiful private location is only 15 min from Route 93's Littleton exit, where you can find a big supermarket & WalMart if you forgot something. Owners thoughtfully had left us piles of firewood for the indoor fireplace and/or the outdoor fire pit.
Log cabin with spectacular views and lake.
This was great for a fall week. Enclosed porch for lake viewing, and great fireplace for rainy day cosy warmth. Secluded and private, with lots of amenities in the cabin. Look is deceptive as lower floor (not very visible) can sleep 5 and also has a kids play area. Stayed as a couple and enjoyed the getaway. Timber interia, spacious and stylish.
Don't want to leave
Quiet, secluded, wonderfully dark at night.
If you need night light, a little noise at night, and a bit of surrounding activity, this is not for you. This property is the ultimate quiet and secluded setting you could hope for.
The fireplace and the firewood supplied was magnificent. The screen porch facing west provided ultimate sunsets and sunrises.
Great kitchen and open living room/dining room. It is in great proximity to hiking trails in the White Mountains. The trail around the lake is a added bonus which we utilized. Kayaks are nice to use as well. Cabin had everything we needed for food prep.
Wild turkeys, Bald eagles, canada geese, ducks crickets etc...all enhanced our stay.
Night sky stars are rare this day and age. But they surely exist here.
The phone arrangement was very helpful. Even took a break from the solitude to catch a football game on the satellite TV reception.
Linens, dishes,TP, paper towels, garbage service are all very great services we appreciated.
A year is a long way off. But we are even now figuring how to return!
We are leaving renewed!
