Ogontz Arts event center is a privately owned facility on Ogontz lake supporting many different arts organizations. During our summer season, children, families, and professionals in different arts fields gather to create and educate in music, dance and theatre. Ogontz also owns two private properties (distanced from its camp operation) that it rents to help defer the costs of its arts programming. Renting this property from us supports this venture.
Andrew Lidestri purchased this house in 2005
This is a beautifully situated, well furnished house. The view of the lake from the screened in porch is mesmerizing. The trails around the lake are fun, the walk to the lake is also very good. It was great to be able to let the kids wander everywhere without worrying about anything and they loved the freedom. I highly recommend this rental.
Just returned from 2 weeks at this property. Initial enquiries were answered swiftly and booking was straight forward. Later emails were slow to be answered, which resulted in telephone communication. Information provided before the trip was good and all that we needed. The description of the property was accurate. The property is big and has a lived in feel about it. It is well stocked with utensils and equipment. The fridge/freezer is big, and the barbeque outside is excellent. Whilst we were there we had regular sightings of Deer, red squirrel, grey squirrel, chipmunk, wild turkey, porcupine, rabbit. Lots of Blue Jay in the area with their varied songs, and Loons on the lake with their ghostly tunes. Unexpected surprises with a few visits from a pair of Humming Birds to the flowers on the porch, occasional glimmers from Fireflies, and numerous Turtles in the lake. Being away from any built up areas the view of the stars at night was fantastic. We were lucky to see several shooting stars during our stay. We had one problem with the Bathroom electricity on our first night but this was rectified the following morning and did not occur again. The property is within 30 minute drive of numerous places of interest and activities. Closest town with ample shops is 15 minutes. Everything we needed. Overall a good sized property which met our needs, in a great location. Only negative point was the bed in the master bedroom. Small and noisy. (Gary, Dawn, & George)
From the moment we stepped in the door ,we felt like we were at home. The cabin is inviting, clean and comfortable. There was every spice or condiment that we looked for. The cabin is totally secluded and we loved every moment. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in years! Each night we had a fire in the outdoor fire pit and gazed at the stars. We took the canoe out on the lake and caught a few fish. Visited nearby Franconia Notch State park(beautiful) and went fishing in the Moore Reservoir. Thank you Andrew for a great vacation! xo
I want to start of by saying that this property is more beautiful in person. When we got there to my surprise the cabin was much more then we expected. It was on top of a mountain that was overlooking the lake. It only took us few steps to get to the lake. We came with children I felt that they had a safe distance from the cabin to the lake. I read some previous comments that wrote about having steps to go down to the lake but I felt like those steps would ruin the overall view and comfort. The cabin itself was clean with interesting decorations inside. It had a lot of space with a full basement with beds, sofa, tv, and different games. Each room had its own design with beds made and white clean towels all made up right on the bed. The kitchen was fully stocked with all utensils needed, pots, pans, coffee maker etc.. We did not expect that, they even had a cabinet with all different kinds of seasonings. We would make coffee in the morning and sit in the veranda just enjoying the beautiful view of the mountain , the lake, and just listening to the birds chirping . The cabin also had a little boat with life jackets down at the deck where the lake is . We used it the whole time we were there. Also the owner of the cabin had great directions and answered all of my questions . He replied to me any time I send him a question. Our overall experience was just perfect . This was and will be very memorable to our family!! Thank you for the great experience !
What an incredible place to stay at!
We walked into a beautiful and clean home, with a fireplace setup with wood & paper just waiting to be lit. The kitchen was full of everything we needed and it was easy to make meals given everything there. The view of the lake is beautiful and it's very quiet...perfect for what we wanted!
The cabin is nice, very open with good kitchen supplies and a nice fireplace. Plenty of room with a big table for the kids to do art and play electronics. Only issue is that the beds are not too comfortable, but overall it made for a good ski house, although better snow would have helped alot!
