A much needed and relaxing weekend was had by all at this lovely cottage on Embden Pond. The cottage sits in a lovely little collection of other cottages and the neighbors are friendly and quiet. The cottage had everything we needed including bedding and towels. Perfect place to get away. The only thing that was inconvenient for us - we brought kayaks. The cottage is not far from the lake and the shore line access is a very narrow path with rocks for lake access. There is a boat slip two driveways down. However, the distance from the cottage did not leave us convinced it was okay to leave the boats unattended. We had to bring them back and forth from the lake every time we went out. It is doable if you have people there to help you or don't mind carrying the boats. Complicated for us because of the children and older family members. I would have preferred a more shore like access by the cottage itself for that reason. HOWEVER, if you are not boaters and are looking for a quiet place to relax, this is a perfect little getaway! The owner was very communicative and responded quickly to any questions we had. Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your cottage!
Excellent! Clean and very comfortable and lovely. We are very grateful for the care and concern for us as guests.
The open lay out and light colored walls gave an airy feel to the place. The camp was clean and well stocked with dishes, kitchen supplies, towels and necessities. We had a good time
Just got back lastnight. Wish we stayed home or i researched more. Where do i begin. Outside- portch is beautiful if your not highly allergic to bees. There are 3 seperate spots i saw bees potentially making nests. Also the view & cabin is nothing at all like the picture! There is a large addition being put on the cabin where the view to the lake should be. Barely a view you just see a piece of water. Also there are so many cabins all throughout the space you are litterally walking in other peoples space. And they spread their stuff to make it known that is their space. It was only the last 2-3 days we were able to use the "beach area" which wasnt a beach area. Inside- the ceiling looks like its falling in throughout multiple rooms. Electrical outlets were exposed and coming off wall in where the children sleep. Tv did not work completely fuzzy, so we bought brand new movies driving about an hour to get them and dvd player kept skipping. wifi did not work all time we tried to use it. Def not a place i would bring my kids back! I would not reccomend. Wish we left when i wanted too waste of time off which i dont get often.
The cabin was very nice. It had everything that we needed. I would recommend this property to anyone. I am planning a trip back this winter for some ice fishing.
The cabin will sleep 7 comfortably and the in house facilities are in very good shape (kitchen stove, frig, Wi-Fi, TV, etc.). As cook I found the kitchen to be quite adequate for preparing meals for five hungry fishermen. Using the toilet and shower takes some planning and some" self-control" when there's a crowd in residence. Everything was quite clean and the beds are comfortable. The cabin is not on the water. It sits about 75 yards away from the shore line with a number of other cabins between it and the lake shore. It is located immediately adjacent to the roadway. There is some early morning road noise so if you have late sleepers they might complain---too bad. They should be up and about early while in Maine! All in all, a very good rental for adults, maybe not so much if there are a lot of young kids in the group.
Other Activities: Boating, canoeing, snowmobiling.
