About the property

Full log Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The mountains are beautiful any time of the year and especially at our private modern log home. Our property is located on 3 acres of Ponderosa pines at 8,000 feet just 3 miles from downtown Pagosa Springs on the Wolf Creek side of town, just off Hwy 160. The main house has two bedrooms and two baths and the detached garage offers a large upstairs bedroom with two queens, sitting area, tv and third bath. The maximum number guests that house can accomodate is 8. Our guest book comments are wonderful and are listed below. Don't miss reading them.

An easy drive with huge views gets you to Wolf Creek Pass and the Continental Divide. Treasure Falls and Silver Falls are closeby. The loop around the "neighborhood" is about a 2 mile walk and Fawn Gulch Rd is great for walking and snowshoeing in the national forest.

On beautiful mountain days you can sit on the deck and enjoy relaxing at home, or take a drive in any direction for more incredible scenery and activities. Enjoy hiking trails, scenic waterfalls, fishing, fall colors and mountain view drives in every direction. Go across the street and see the gorgeous valley views of the "Elk Trap" with Square-top mountain and Quartz Ridge in the background.

We offer free wi-fi, free long distance and dish TV. There is a 40'' HDTV in the living area , a new HDTV in the guest bedroom and another tv in the garage bedroom. A built in aspen desk has internet connection (wireless and wired) and phone.

Our huge wrap around deck has a gas barbeque, ample seating, views of Eagle Mountain and abundant wildlife and bird watching. There is a large firepit for S'mores and evenings around the fire in the summer.

The upstairs bedroom has a queen aspen log bed, private bath and balcony with mountain view. A second bedroom with queen bed, TV and a second bath are on the main floor. The large detached 2 car log garage offers a third very spacious bedroom beautifully furnished with 2 queen beds, gas fireplace, TV, small refrigerator, sitting area with leather loveseat and a 3/4 bath.

The fully equipped kitchen has spices and staples and a professional double oven Dynasty cook stove. Artistically designed hardwood and slate flooring, tasteful country furnishings, and huge windows make this home a perfect mountain get-a-way.

This home a perfect retreat for couples or familes with teenage childern who would enjoy the privacy of the separate large bedroom with TV over the garage. The garage is also available for rental without the main house. Enjoy games? Scrabble, trivial pursuit, yahtzee, puzzles, backgammon, dominos and cards are here for your use.

This mountain cabin in a scenic rustic setting has all the luxuries of home and the close-in convenience of downtown Pagosa. Well behaved dogs are considered.

There are two tubes for river tubing, three sets of snowshoes, and four sleds plus saucers for winter guests.

Call or email us for more photos of bedrooms, baths, porch, fire pit, area views, garage and map. The maximum number the house can accomodate is 8, including children.

This is a very special property that will be appreciated by those who want a true Colorado mountain experience. Our guest feedback has been wonderful! If you're a couple looking for a romantic get-away, contact us and we may be able to offer a reduced rate.

About owner

We are a very active couple who enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, mountain-biking, fishing, hiking, golfing and the outdoor lifestyle. When chosing a vacation home we immediately fell in love with Pagosa and this cabin in particular. Why come to the mountains to stay in a condo? It was so close to town and yet so private. Sitting on our deck we enjoy seeing the birds, deer, an even an occasional bobcat. Being here is just a great experience. We've decorated with country and mountain decor and both the house and deck are thoroughly relaxing after our long days in the great outdoors!

Why owner chose Southwestern Colorado

The location, ambiance and mountain feel.

What makes this cabin unique

We love that the house is so close to downdown yet still so private. It is in small neighborhood of homes on 3+ acres. It's even a beautiful drive to arrive here from town.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Incredible snow, skiing and backcountry. Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous views, gorgeous cabin...perfect in every way!!

  • 5 of 5

I have a family of 4 with two young kids and this cabin in Pagosa Springs is absolutely perfect. The house is gorgeous, clean, well appointed and secluded. The owners are wonderful to work with and very responsive, they made sure our visit was memorable and it was. I promise you will find no other place in Pagosa as beautiful as this... we are already making arrangements to come back next year. This cabin has spoiled us....

Perfect winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for our family to share with another family for our annual ski trip and it worked out perfectly! Quiet get-away with a GREAT kitchen. Owner is very kind, caring and attentive to your needs before, during and after stay. The local Property Manager is also very kind and helpful. We'd stay here again for sure. :)

Note: If going during the snowy season, would recommend 4WD, AWD, chains or snow tires. One of our vehicles would not have made it up to the house without chains (we know this because they had to go back to town to buy chains). The vehicles with 4WD and super snow tires did fine.

Beware the icy driveway at night after sunny days when driveway melt occurs. :)

Owner's Response: Whitney-we are happy your family had a wonderful time and based on the photos you sent us the kids really enjoyed the snow, sledding, building snow men and an igloo. FWD, AWD or chains are always a good idea in the mountains in the winter...especially this year when we had massive, heavy, wet snow throughout the region. But the positive side is a near record snow base on the ski slopes.

Great place for a small family

  • 4 of 5

My family picked this house because it is located close to the Wolf Creek ski slopes. Based on the description and location it was ideal. The house is very welcoming and very cosy when it is cold outside. The garage is a big plus when there is snow so you don't have to clean the car every morning. The neighbors are super friendly and look after each other when there is too much snow to leave the place. There are a few observations that would have made our stay better if we had known that earlier or if the description had been a little better. The website says that it accommodates 8 people, but since 2 beds are located above the detached garage area, the main house itself is actually not too spacious for a family of 4 where the children have to share a bed. We also experienced significant challenges getting to and from the house without snow chains in December. It would be very useful to highlight and recommend to have those to all visitors coming at winter time so they are aware of the steep road and the potential challenges to the house. The heating works fine and keep the house warm no problem but there is only one in the entire house. Therefore in order to get the warmth to each room we had to keep all bedroom doors open and leave the ceiling fan on to push the warmer air downstairs. Also in December, due to the extreme amount of snow, which we enjoyed very much, we experienced regular power cuts in the house and a couple of occasions this happened after sunset. A few more candles (we found only 1) for this purpose would be very useful to feel more relaxed when this happens.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your helpful comments. We are sorry you had difficulty on the road up and heard from our property manager that the snow was unusually heavy and broke tree limbs which fell across power lines throughout the area causing the power outages. In all the time we have been renting over Christmas, yours is the only issue anyone has had with the roads. We provided a battery lantern in the house to use in case of power outages. Perhaps it was misplaced by a previous guest. We have subsequently provided a new lantern and several more large candles. There are 3 space heaters in the bath and guest bedroom closet, in case guests feel they want the bedrooms warmer as well as extra down comforters in the closet. The description of the house indicates there are 4 queen beds, two in main house and two in garage bedroom, so we’re sorry you missed that and were inconvenienced. We will take to heart your recommendations and hope you consider a future stay!

Perfect cabin for visit to Great Sands and Mesa Verde

  • 5 of 5

My two buddies and I picked this spot so that it was directly between Mesa Verde and Great Sands and we were not disappointed. Not too far from town. Very secluded. Great porches. Great fire pit. Awesome kitchen. Fully appointed. Beautiful short walk out to amazing epic vista. Loved the mountain bikes. Didn't know the main house had two bedrooms and the third was over garage but that worked out fine. Overall, we were really pumped about the whole experience and Sid couldn't have been more helpful.

Perfect location! Beautiful cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Love this location and the quiet country charm! Just minutes away from Pagosa Springs with it's restaurants, shopping and hot springs, yet the property is walking distance to national forest trails where we saw Elk herds every morning. Hop in the car for a short drive to Wolf Creek with spectacular mountains, skiing, hiking, etc. The cabin was the perfect cozy retreat for our family at the end of the day to sip hot coco, enjoy the calm peacefulness of the woods and play card games. Loved it! Would definitely stay here again.

Conveniently located between Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Pass, easy and plentiful access to national forest trails and scenic drives as well as water activities. A beautiful home with everything you need, plenty of porch area, and a cozy balcony off the upstairs bedroom for morning coffee and bird watching. We'll be back!
