Tucked into the woods, but close to everything. Travelers comment on how convenient it is to get into the park from Lamar Valley Cabin. You are minutes away from Lamar Valley, some of the best wildlife watching in the world.

Large, open spaces filled with an abundance of natural light set a cheerful scene for this bright pine cabin. Inspired by the the lodges of Yellowstone National Park, this cottage offers rooms with large casement windows on three sides, bringing the outdoors in.

Nestled in the woods, this cabin is famous for watching the bison lumbering through, and whitetail deer grazing in the meadow behind the house. The cabin is a short 5 minute walk to the General Store and a cozy Log Cabin Cafe, yet offers a very private setting.

Enjoy world class skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Ride the trail in Cooke City, and come home to quiet Silver Gate just 3 miles down the road.

The cabin's main floor is an open kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is accented by handmade tiles, a butcher block counter and built-in storage nooks. The large dining room table is great for big family dinners and game night.

A lodgepole queen bed in the first floor bedroom is where early morning light and a view to the meadow can be enjoyed.

A full sized bath with a tiled shower and bathtub are just steps away. Hot water on demand assures no one ever has to cut their shower short.

For the kids...a ladder leads to a loft with two twin futons. Always a favorite spot, it's scaled for kids and is a hideout they are sure to remember. They love having their own space perched above the grown-ups!

A propane heating stove sets a cozy tone with the flip of a switch in the living room.

The master bedroom upstairs is a special getaway. Mountain views, forest views, vaulted ceilings and a private balcony offer a special space to indulge in some well-deserved relaxation.

Down the hall from the master bedroom are the bunkroom and second bathroom. The famous "Wall" mountain can be seen from the bathroom and much time has been spent in the bathtub watching the avalanches roar down to the valley floor in the spring.

Our friendly managers Jess and Tyler are right across the street, so anything extra you may need they can get for you quickly.

Should you have any other questions, please give a call, we're here to help.

We had a wonderful time in this enlarged cabin with all the amenities we desired. Jeff was very helpful in providing information concerning wildlife. It is located very near our favorite part of Yellowstone, the Lamar Valley."

Small cabin no more, luxurious new addition. Less than a minutes drive to the park.

  • 5 of 5

Loved my stay at this cabin. (Second year staying here) Luxurious new addition with a grand living room and bison grazing outside the windows on most nights. Large beautiful master bedroom with king sized bed surrounded by windows. Custom new woodwork. A total of three bedrooms one with bunks and a new tiled full bathroom. Not to mention you are less than a minutes drive to the northeast entrance gate. Will definitely be back.

A great retreat at a gateway to Yellowstone!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! Nicely designed, built, and equipped cabin, so close to the NE entrance to Yellowstone that you could almost walk. Driving over the Beartooth mountains to get there was an adventure in itself, the road topping at just under 11,000 feet. There were lots of nice little touches to make the stay more comfortable. Well-worth the price. The only negative for us was that my elderly mother had a little trouble negotiating the front steps, which don't have a rail, but we managed. We came mainly to see wildlife, and this is the part of the park to be for that.

Perfect Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this perfect cabin! Surrounded by pine trees -shade, privacy, and smell of pine with the windows open but not isolated from others. It was just my husband and I for this trip but the cabin could easily fit 4. The cabin is located in Silver Gate about 1 mile from the NE entrance of the park. We got up at 3:30 am every day. If you want to see wildlife get up early and stay out late- carry bear spray. If you need a nap, come back to the cabin in the middle of the afternoon when animals are sleeping and the crowds are high. This cabin had everything we needed and more. The bed was extremely comfortable, clean linens and plenty of extras if needed. The cabin is bright with two skylights, vaulted ceilings, full size windows with good screens. and plenty of lighting. Outlets for charging phones and camera batteries are abundant. Your cell phone will not work here but there is a landline- you can text with wifi or get a phone card. On demand water heater never disappointed. Cannot rave enough about getting a cabin at this price w/full sized modern bathroom- rare in this area. Loved full shower/tub. It felt good on sore muscles from hiking and driving around all day. Plenty of towels as well. The refrigerator is about 3/4 size of a full size fridge. We made all our meals there and packed lunches for the day. Bought groceries in Bozeman and large Styrofoam cooler. There are no closets- there is a rack on the doors for coats and sweatshirts needed for chilly mornings and nights. Two luggage racks at the end of the bed and a large bench for more storage. Full sized leather recliner. Kitchen table seats 3-4. Microwave, toaster, crockpot, and full stove. All utensils are there. We have seen it all! Grizzlies nursing her cubs, courting black bears, three separate black bear mamas with their cubs, thousand of bison in the valleys, yearling black bears, moose and her calf, another moose in Lamar, mule deer, pronghorns and their babies, hairy marmots, pika, and more... I even met Tom Murphy- photographer! Hiked to Trout Lake, Fairy Falls, Wraith Falls, and Mystic falls. Internet was a plus. Do not expect high speeds- you are in the mountains. There is no maid service in the cabin so take your trash to the dump in Cooke City a few miles up the road and a good chance to spot moose, foxes, or bears. The cabin manager is across the street for any needs. Owner checked on us and rental process easy We want to stay in the this cabin again and again!

Quiet and cosy

  • 5 of 5

Quiet and cosy is how I would describe the cabin and Silver Gate. We stayed there for 4 nights having returned after a previous stay in 2011. We wanted to see Yellowstone and Beartooth Mountain in different seasons. The cabin has everything we wanted after a full day exploring the park - a full gas stove, fridge, comfortable bed, wi-fi, good lighting for reading, thermostatically controlled heating, hot water and good water pressure in the shower and a barbecue and deck to boot! I barbecued every night on the deck which was very convenient and adds to the overall enjoyment of the day given the setting in the woods. The cabin is very conveniently located close to the north east entrance which is the gateway to the Lamar Valley. I am happy that a few people decided some time ago to put aside this wonderful area so that many can enjoy it today - including humans! We have stayed at many VRBO places and Karen is a gem! She gives confidence when booking and is a warm and compassionate person. We know this from our stay in 2011 when my wife became ill and Karen did everything she could to help. So - with all things considered (no pun intended on NPR show) we highly recommend the Lamar Valley cabins.
