What makes this house unique

This property is situated on over 40 wooded acres of absolute privacy in the middle of 1100 acres of public forest preserves and designated significant wild life habitat community. It is serenely private, yet still close to civilization. The road is an old stage coach line and was known as the highway to Madison. There was an Inn and tavern on the road and multiple farms evidenced by the rock walls that once surrounded fields throughout the surrounding forest.

A retreat for a natural history writer and family

  • 5 of 5

Ah, what a lovely place: a quiet, peaceful, isolated retreat. The home is spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. Lanna prepared us for the remote location so we came with food and essentials, and then didn't want to leave. We did manage to pull ourselves away for the family wedding that brought us to the East Coast. Afterward s we returned to enjoy the nature: a scarlet tanager from the kitchen window, a pair of Eastern kingbirds feeding their young just outside the dining room, chipmunks in the woods, frogs and fishes in the pond, and wildflowers all around. Absolutely wonderful and a great introduction to those habitats for our little ones.

Tranquil location

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful - as is the house. There are two master suites and two smaller bedrooms with single beds. Every room has a view of the woods. You can sit in the kitchen and watch the wildlife. The hostess is accomodating and easy to contact. Loved the stay. I highly recommend.

Beautiful quiet property

No grocery shopping nearby but otherwise a great place to relax and enjoy spring beauty in Connecticut. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing retreat

  • 5 of 5

Me and 4 friends came up for a long weekend for a fishing tournament in the area. Lanna the owner met me at the property and walked me around the property which is absolutely beautiful and is even more amazing in person......my favorite part probably being the refurbished antique wood stoves which are super cool.

The property is very tranquil and absolutely ideal for another looking to "get away" from the hustle and bustle.

Can't wait to go back!

Secluded Luxury Estate

  • 5 of 5

Great secluded home surrounded by woods. But still close to major byways. House has everything you need. Very fast WiFi! Hiking trials on the property. The bedrooms and kitchen have skylights. Owner is very helpful with directions and was always available. Property is price comparable to high end hotels in the area.

This property is surrounded by over 1100 acres of undeveloped land and public preserves with hiking trails. It is a designated significant wildlife community habitat. It is private and quiet yet close to civilization if you want to leave the property. The quaint New England towns are a must see, especially downtown Guilford and the Henry Whitfield Museum. Also the cruise out of Stoney Creek of the Thimble Islands.
