Watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay as you enjoy a leisurely breakfast sitting on teakwood chairs on the slate covered lanai, then go visit the island sights, but be sure to get back in time for the sunsets!
This studio unit is a one-of-a-kind within the complex! Accessible parking is just a few feet away from this first floor unit. The condo has been totally refurbished and nicely appointed with a modern Polynesian touch. The unobstructed view of Bali Hai is usually described by the guests as breathtaking. The beauty of the unit itself, the view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai and the accessibility and convenience of this unit make for an unparalleled combination. And it’s all within the fabulous Garden of Eden of the North Shore, the Hanalei Bay Resort.
After a day of sight-seeing you might enjoy soaking in the large hot tub surrounded with travertine tile, or take a shower if that is your style. Two guests are easily accommodated in the unit. The thick pillow-topped Murphy bed assures a good night’s rest after a busy day of sightseeing. Oh, and yes, there are coolers, snorkeling gear, and some beach toys for the little ones. Oh, and I just added an iHome® Kineta Bluetooth® FM Alarm Clock Radio and Speaker for your listening pleasure...(NO…Please don’t stop reading, there are 3 more paragraphs of juicy information, including my cancellation policy…just click on the “More Details” link right below, OK?)
This studio has a full kitchen. And, of course, all the counter tops are granite. Air conditioning is only needed once in a while, but it’s there if you need it. Check your email on the free Wi-Fi. A beautiful beach shared with the new St. Regis Hotel for great swimming and snorkeling is just a short walk away. And it’s all in close walking distance to all the fabulous HBR. Amenities like restaurant/bar/free parking very near the condo/tennis/pool. And, something many condos don't have: a built-in washer and dryer!
And for those of you who have read my reviews—good news! Yes, I have replaced the mattress. I think it is perfect, kind of firm, but nice and soft on top. I think you will like it! Secondly, I have significantly increased your options for storing your clothes and things, BUT, if you are staying more than a few days, and you like to unpack and put your then a few items in a spacious dresser, you will be disappointed.
NOTE: This is a Studio, is does NOT have a separate bedroom. It has a bathroom, a full kitchen, and a large room with a sofa, a queen-size Murphy bed, and a dining area with table and four chairs. One of the photos shows how the condo is configured.
And finally, I reluctantly need to inform you of two fees: First, the resort charges a $20/daily Resort Fee collected upon checkout, and Secondly, in case you didn’t notice it, VRBO/HomeAway charges a 5-10% Service Fee. Sorry, about these.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Your deposit is refundable if notice is given 60 days before your arrival. If less than 60 days before your arrival, it depends on my luck in re-renting the condo: If successful, you get a full refund. If I 'm partially successful, you get whatever I can collect. Yes, this is the most generous policy I have seen!

Audrey and I live in Sacramento, and spend as much time as possible in Kauai. We had a nice condo in building 2 at HBR but Audrey wanted (OK, insisted on!) a better view of the waves rolling in so we bought this unit in 2006, and have been very pleased with the view of the surf and of Bali Hai. The sellerr was just in the process of totally remodeling it, and we think he did a nice job.

This unit is located very close to the parking lot and the pool, and is still very quiet and tranquil.
This is a beautiful resort location with everything you could need! Full kitchen, comfortable bed, and an amazing view of the mountains and ocean. It's also conveniently located to the parking lot, so you have easy access to and from the condo. We really enjoyed our stay. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the tub/bathroom hadn't been cleaned well and there was some confusion at check-in (neither of these are the owners fault). Also, the walls are paper thin - you can hear everything from the neighbors. Luckily our neighbors were courteous, but we could hear even quiet conversations.
Everything was great, super little unit, well-supplied--including beach toys, good food at the Happy Talk Lounge, and most pleasant and helpful staff!

This was or 15th trip to Hawaii and we exclusively rent condos, mainly through VRBO. Our experience of renting with Dale and his lovely unit FAR exceeded all the previous stays! The level of Dales' desire that you have the best possible stay is unmatched. He was prompt in responding to all communication, and checked in a few times(without being intrusive!!!) to see how things were going, and if we needed anything. We stayed for 16 days and the unit was perfect for our needs. It was just 2 of us though, and if there were more people in the traveling it would get a little cramped. You can address this issue by securing the unit next door which Dale also owns, and accesses it with a lockout door.
Our focus this trip was mainly hiking, golf, and low key relaxation that only the north shore of Kauai can offer, and we nailed it! We knew the chances of iffy weather were greater the time of year we were
staying, but the trade offs were more than worth the risk! Out of 15 trips we encountered the best weather ever!
The amenities and service at HBR are simply unbelievable at Dales price point. The swim-up pool bar quickly became our go to happy hour spot and Sam the bartender became a fast friend! Also, having Happy Talk Lounge just steps away for a great meal was awesome!
Do not let the proximity of this location to other parts of the island scare you away. once you get a feel for the traffic patterns you will learn how to time things. We did head down to Poipu on a few days, and the longest trip took 1hr 10min!!
A note to golfers....The Makai Course is not to be missed!! If you want to play more than a couple of rounds, inquire at the pro-shop about their package deals. I think I got my average round cost down to about $80 vs. a rack rate of over $200. I just left my clubs at the course and walked over for every round!
Without a doubt, the next time Kauai is in the rotation, Princeville will be the base, and Dales' Unit will be called "Home"!!
We had a terrific time in Dale's condo. Not only is the view breathtaking, but the condo is very cozy yet fully equipped. And the resort is wonderful, the staff is most helpful in every way. I especially loved the pool and jacuzzi, and the food is just excellent at the outdoor bar and cafe, the Happy Talk Lounge! We'll definitely be back!
