One well traveled visitor said ....You just don't find areas like this very often.
Our family grew up in the Muskegon area and has enjoyed our cottage for years.
As families grow up they move apart and our cottage has been the family meeting place every summer.
It is an important part of our family heritage andwe enjoy sharing this special place with others.
Since we are at the cottage every year we work hard to keep it in good working order and welcome your feedback
We would like to Thank Mary K for her feedback.
As with any cottage property there is a constant battle with critters, especially mice. We have been on the winning side most years but once in awhile they make an inroad somewhere. We were unaware of the problem. unfortunately , there was a communication breach with our usually efficient maintenance person. So sorry for that.
The problem is being addressed, of course, and we will be on the winning side once again.
Our Family has been staying at this quiet, woodsy, cottage for the past 10 plus years. It's a cottage that offers the best of Lk. Michigan beaches and a great place for family gatherings. Your choice of quiet reading on the deck or a walk on the beach. Shopping is not far, for the restless. There are always festivals or celebrations going on or in one of the neighboring towns. I can't say enough about this place. We have so many memories of great meals, games we played on the table in the dining room, or fabulous bon fires on the beach. We have even had great rain days doing nothing. We will be back for another ten years. No problem!
We stayed in this home for a one week summer beach vacation. We have used VBRO more than a handful of times and this was our first bad experience. The beach is nice and secluded, but the home is not direct beachfront as we were led to believe. While we did try to make the best of our one week stay outdoors with 2 small children and a dog, this rental did have a few problems that are just unacceptable. There is a mice problem in the home, this became evident after the first night. We awoke to fresh mice droppings along the kitchen counters, then we discovered more old droppings in the pull out drawer of the oven, inside of pans, and other cooking utensils. Our pantry food items that were purchased for our trip were broken into by the mice. I contacted the owner and left a message, but did not get any response. Fortunately, her sister did stop by the house for some chairs, we mentioned it and was told that they might have come in under the sink. We noticed there were ultrasonic repellent devices plugged in each room for pests. The bathrooms also had a lot of mold, leaking sinks, and leaking toilets that obviously perpetuated the mold problem. The upstairs loft is not safe for small children, it has a steep open stair case and open railings. All of these things combined made our trip unsafe and unenjoyable, we will not return to this place.
I would recommend this property as the beach is breathtaking and private!! So much fun to have a campfire right at the water. The pictures of the property are accurate and it was very clean and well stocked. Thank you for letting our dogs come along.
I was very impressed with the house. It was comfortable, clean and extremely well stocked. The owner has taken excellent care of the property. I stayed two weeks, and it began to feel like home. The back porch is nice and cool in the woods, and access to the beach is pretty easy. It was very relaxing. The owner was easy to reach whenever a question came up. I enjoyed my stay very much and hope to be back.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house right on Lake Michigan. This place is truly unique. It was unusually hot for the end of June but we were nice and cool in the woods. It's just about 100 foot walk to some stairs that lead down to a beautiful private beach right on Lake Michigan. My kids spent the entire time going from the house to the beach and back again. I can overstate how nice it is to have a place to stay so close to the lake that you can walk it in less than 2 mins.
The house is very nice and well stocked. There's plenty of space for 2 family's. Lots of out door seating to have visitors as well. The deck is very nice as well. You can't watch the kids from the house because it's on a hill and in the woods but I like being on the beach so it's not an issue. Having all the bath towels and bed sheets as well as a washer and dry meant we didn't have to pack much either. The public beach is just up the street if you like as well.
I like to run and there's a nice 1.6 mile loop that goes through the woods and on the beach. Very nice.
Muskgegon is ok, nothing special but we came to be on the beach and get away so we were didn't mind. Grand Haven is 20 mins away so you can go be a tourist if there if that's what you like.
There's no internet and the TV is just the local channels. No basic cable channels. So bring lots of DV's if you need video entertainment.
Carol who manages the place is very nice and easy to deal with. We had a great stay and plan on going back next year.
We had a great time even though the weather did not cooperate. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed. We'll be back! Thank you.
Western Lake Michigan Shoreline is one of the best kept secrets . Its natural beauty is unmatched . Yet there is much to do. Festivals and Art fairs aplenty. Museums downtown, Waterpark /Amusement Park within a 20 minute drive. It's also a Charter fishing, windsurfing, and kiteboarders paradise. The Pier Marquette pier with its boardwalk, bike path and miles of beach is within minutes of our cottage (you can fish on the pier too!!). Cruise dinner dances, the Ferry to Milwaukee and quaint lakeside communities are nearby too.
