Situated on 5 private acres and overlooking 250 feet of private beach, our cottage provides a wonderful setting for a great vacation. Enjoy the view of the lake from the cottage, from the new deck or walk down the steps to the beach. No roads, woods or 'short walks' to the beach. This spectacular cottage lets the lake embrace you. Lake Michigan is so large (120 miles wide and 350 miles long) that it feels like the ocean without the salt water and sharks! The water is usually warm in the summer for swimming, sometimes calm as glass and other days with huge rolling waves. Walking miles is a favorite pastime...so is hanging out under the umbrellas. Building sand castles, splashing in the waves, enjoying campfires and reading in the hammock are just some of the joys of being at the 'big lake'. Picnics on the deck, chasing fireflies into the evening, watching an unforgettable sunset with friends and family...this is what connects us and what wonderful memories are made of.
Venturing away from the beach, you can visit Saugatuck or South Haven, each about 10 minutes away, or other little villages nearby. There you will find shopping, galleries and fun and funky restaurants. Playing golf is easy on one of the many area courses. Bicycling on trails or country roads has also become very popular. A summer highlight is visiting the outdoor farmer's markets in Saugatuck or Holland which offer up the rich bounty of the area. Picking your own blueberries, raspberries, peaches or apples is always a highlight with young and old alike. Boat rentals for sailing, motor boating or fishing are nearby. Windsurfers and wave runners are also available to rent.
In any season, you can experience the wonder of Lake Michigan.
Great times are waiting for you. Come stay at the cottage and share a piece of our private paradise.

About Elizabeth Griffiths
We grew up in Michigan enjoying Lake Michigan. We moved to Colorado in 1968 and missed the water so we found this land with a little cottage on it. We vacationed there for many summers with our family. In 1995 we built the present cottage, adding the deck and covered gazebo last year. The cottage holds many dear memories of time spent with family and friends. Many others have stayed at the cottage over the years and each has signed a rock which we have displayed in the living room reminding us of all the good times shared there.
Elizabeth Griffiths purchased this Cottage in 1971
Why Elizabeth Griffiths chose Ganges
The cottage offers a comfortable and beautiful space to feel closer to nature and enjoy friends and family or find a place for solitude. Relax in hammock or on the deck or kayak, paddle board or swim in glorious Lake Michigan. Enjoy spectacular sunsets and star filled skies.

What a fabulous vacation house. It was clean comfortable and well equipped. The setting could not have been better, beautiful yard and decks over looking the lake. Spectacular Sunsets and amazing beech Can not think of a better place to have a fun relaxing vacation
So glad that you had a good time!
Book Club Weeknd
I hate to be redundant but what prior reviewers have said is so true-photos do not do this cottage justice. It looks like something out of a magazine. My book club friends just kept remarking on the detail and decor of this home. There were 7 of us and everyone was comfortable with the bedroom/bathroom situation. We did not take advantage of the "toys" but did enjoy a long beach walk.
Wine and cheese was consumed on the deck which has a fabulous view of the lake and we had coffee and breakfast food on the screened porch.
We shopped and dined in Saugatuck, Douglas and Holland-such fun!
Beth was only a phone call away and always responsive and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!
So glad you had a fun time. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.
A little pricey but well worth it!
Two families with teenagers and adult children spent a week here and it was thoroughly enjoyable for all. This is a beautiful property - you are lakeside with beautiful sunsets every night - secluded from neighbors yet 10 minutes to Saugatuck and Douglas. The property has a paddelboard, kayak, ping pong, bocce, and bikes, so there were activities for all, and couches, hammock and adirondack chairs for resting. Well stocked kitchen and grill for cooking dinners. The owners have anticipated all your needs. Only limitation is the number of stairs to the beach which can be difficult for those with mobility issues. Wonderful restaurants in Saugatuck - don't miss Phil's.
Amazing! Great Weekend Away!
This property is great! We had an awesome time and the house was very accommodating. The kitchen and living room are large and great for a group to relax. The backyard is large and very open. The sunsets were perfect and the scenery was beautiful. The house is secluded and was a great escape. The pictures do not do this place justice - it was spectacular!
Beth (the owner) was very easy to work with and responded promptly.
Overall, I would highly recommend this house and we all hope to come back one day :)
This cottage (home) is magnificent. Incredibly well appointed. Everything you would need, you will find it. Inside, outside, topped off with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. If you care to leave this serene setting, town is minutes away; with great restaurants and delicious deli's (Farmhouse Deli- was our favorite, they will prepare meals via casserole dishes for you). Three of us at a time, were able to cook in the well appointed kitchen, set a beautiful table --while the fireplace crackled and music played. A delightful setting, on the serene grounds, with the spectacular backdrop of breathtaking Lake Michigan. Thank you Beth.

Beach, Bocce Ball, Best Family Time EVER!
We planned a midwest family reunion and couldn't have been happier with this beautiful accommodation! It was large and formal and clean and wonderfully decorated and at the same time so comfortable and down to earth that we felt immediately at home! Everything was ready for us! The bocce ball court became our meeting area, adirondacks waited for us to sit and enjoy happy hour over the lake, the kayak was ready at the beach, ping pong table and hammock beckoned and so many sitting areas...we could hardly find time to enjoy each one! But we did! Weather cooperated beautifully! Sunsets were dazzling! Puzzles and breezes in the screened in porch, cooking together in the wonderful kitchen, enlightening dinners at the large dining table and hours of chatting in the living room! The Master bedroom has a wonderful view of lush forest (and even a view of some foxes!) and the other downstairs bedroom opens to the lake on every side! Between the moon at night reflecting on the lake and the sunfilled mornings with birds chirping, we didn't even want to waste time on sleep! Hard to do, though, because the beds were so comfortable! Pictures don't do this home justice! It's just amazing! So lucky to have had this time! And now, planning to put in a bocce ball court at home! So much fun!!! Thank you Beth for being so flexible with our timing!
Beach walking, swimming, kite flying, bocce ball court, hanging out in hammock, ping pong, board games, beach campfire, star gazing Antiquing, art galleries, array of restaurants, Holland shopping, wooden shoe factory!
