Our Mountain Home sits in a forest of bristle cone pine, ponderosa pines, and quaking aspen. We enjoy this location because it is easy to get to in bad weather. We enjoy the feeling of seclusion, tucked into our grove of trees.
For high adventure we simply go out to the front gate to start four wheeling, hiking, mountain biking etc.
If your group is large, we have a huge dormitory's upstairs and downstairs for sleeping or playing.
Kids love our hidden theater to escape to for watching movies.
Our kitchen is outfitted with top of the line appliances that I use for food preparation when I cater events in Fairplay area.
On days we are permitted to have #campfires you may enjoy using our fire pit with all the seating provided

We are Pat and Linda Hendrix from Lakewood Colorado. Pat and his dog Scout have worked together for 5 years building and completing this work of love. We have spent many hours with our family of 7 children, and 17 grandchildren, playing in this wonderful setting. Fishing, hiking, skiing, gold panning, biking, 4x4 wheeling mountain passes, big game hunting, museum touring, hot spring soaking, White water rafting are all right here.
Pat Hendrix purchased this cabin in 2006
We built this from the ground up. We Love South Park, and Fairplay for its proximity to so much nature.
We can get to the cabin from Denver in less than 2 hours, and be eating smores in 30 minutes.
Easy to get to in the worst of Winter. Close proximity to town of Fairplay, Buena Vista, and Breckenridge.
Relaxing, enjoying the wind in the trees. Sit around the campfire cooking hot dogs & marshmallows on a stick.
Sitting around the oak table playing games, next to a crackling fire.
Turn off the WIFI and disconnect from the worries of the world.
Pat's property was perfect for our holiday reunion! His property is equipped with all the necessities and more. With my large group we were looking for a middle ground for all of us to spend our mountain vacation where we could spend time together while still giving us access to all the winter activities colorado has to offer. Strongly recommend!
We rented this beautiful lodge/home the weekend of Oct.1st for our 25th Anniversary party. It was PERFECT for our event, and slept enough people that everyone was comfortable. Great fire pit, stuff for the little kids to do too. Pat and Linda (owners) ALSO catered an amazing barbecue meal for us! It was very convenient, the chefs were great, and so was the food. :) Thank you for helping us have a great time!
This house and location were perfect for our group. There is ample space for everyone, an amazing kitchen and a great location. The owner was so nice and accommodating. Leaving Sunday was so difficult cause I felt like this was home for us.
Our labor day weekend was complete since the house provided nooks and crannies for playing games, for relaxing, for entertainment (there was a small children's theater and sandbox). The kitchen was very well supplied. The owners were very accommodating. Although the living spaces are small, there are several available, and there are several huge bedroom areas that could accommodate an entire family. We would highly recommend it. We hope to come back.
The cabin was exactly as described. The cabin is surrounded by trees and has a magnificant mountain view from the property. We had our wedding here and the event was so beautiful! Pat made the whole experience so easy, even though we did all of the planning from afar. I would definitely recommend staying at this cabin and hope to come back for future vacations. Thank you, Pat for making our special day possible!
We stayed here for three nights with three of our children and eight of our grandchildren. Each family was able to have its own space for bedtime. The kitchen had all we needed. The kids loved all the cubby holes upstairs and had fun outside. One grandson caught his first fish at the lake. We enjoyed a hike at Hoosier Pass and the ladies enjoyed visiting Breckenridge. No complaints! Everyone asked, wow, how did you find this place?
Cottonwood Hot Springs, and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, are 40 minutes away near Buena Vista.
Monarch Ski Resort is a family friendly resort 80 minutes away, with light traffic to get there.
World famous Breckenridge ski resort town is 30 minutes away, but more crowded. Lots of fudge vendors. mmm.
South Park is a world famous fly fishing destination, with many State Wildlife Areas accessible to the public.
