Description

Guerneville Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Sunset Manor of Guerneville is located in the hills ½ mile east of Guerneville, within walking distance of downtown and the Russian River. It has its own outside entrance, two bedrooms with queen beds, kitchen, and living/dining room, all overlooking spectacular views of the hills above Guerneville.

The building is situated on the slope of the hill below Sunset Avenue itself, on the north side of the street. The guest space is on the lower level, on the north side of the building - away from the street, thereby a affording significant level of privacy and quiet.

The living/dining room is 14' x 19' with a wood-burning fireplace and a large HDTV with Comcast cable service. A big picture window provides a view of the hills, and a glass door leads to a deck with table and chairs for outside dining and a side yard. There is also a large back yard for your dog (the property is 1/5 acre).

Each bedroom has a queen-size bed and a TV. The views from the bedroom windows are stunning - it is a treat to wake up to the sun rising and highlighting the trees! These windows are located significantly above the neighboring homes and are thus afforded a substantial privacy.

Your hosts live above this unit and are available for your convenience as needed - and we promise to respect your privacy!

Guerneville, an unincorporated town of about 2500, is about halfway between Santa Rosa and the Pacific Ocean - approximately ½ hour either way - on the right (north) bank of the Russian River.

Downtown Guerneville is large (compared to, say, Rio Nido) - about 4 blocks square. There is a 24/7 Safeway (looks like every other Safeway, but the people are friendly locals). There are good restaurants nearby - a good resource is the local chamber of commerce.

There are lots of fun things to do in the area - varying from kayaking on the river to theater and the local night spots. Northwood Golf Course is about 3 miles west, just east of Monte Rio.

Armstrong Woods State Park is just 2½ miles away, with nature trails, picnic facilities, and horseback riding. There are at least eight wineries with tasting rooms between here and Santa Rosa.

A great ride is west on highway 116 to Jenner, and then south on Route 1 (Coast Highway) to Tomales Bay and our favorite oyster houses.

This is a peaceful place to stay!

A great week-long stay

  • 5 of 5

I rented this with the idea of staying in town and enjoying my daughter's wedding. The apartment had everything we needed (dishes, glassware, pots and pans, towels) and the accommodations were terrific. Everything is new and fresh. I had my family (five brothers and wives and other relatives) meet there one evening before the wedding and we had plenty of room to meet, eat, chat, laugh and had a wonderful time. We could easily walk down to the Coffee Bazaar for early morning coffee and stroll around town to see what was in the shops. There is a Safeway grocery store in town if you are staying/cooking in. I've eaten at a couple of restaurants in town and they are fine. Don't plan on real "upscale" dining--you won't find much of that in Guerneville. The beach in town on the Russian River is a nice place to cool off if you are interested. Kayak rentals are available in the area and it looked like lots of people took advantage of that although I didn't have time to do so. There are MANY wineries in the area and the ocean beaches aren't far away. Northwood Golf Club is an excellent course in the redwoods of Monte Rio just west of Guerneville. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone and will stay again when I visit my daughter in the future.

Owner's Response: We've enjoyed dining at Applewood Inn - it's 1/2 mile down Highway 116, traveling toward Forestville.

Good location within walking distance to town. Natural setting and quiet privacy

  • 2 of 5

The owners were welcoming and nice. The 2 beds very comfortable. Lots of hot water

In the shower.

The drawbacks for us 3 ladies was the musty smell, the mold in the shower caulking

and although there is working condition of most things there could be repairs cosmetcally

(Shower head)

There was sufficient heat in bedroom wall heaters but main living area was inadequate and we had to turn on oven to warm the living room somewhat.

I believe pets are allowed so that would explain urine smell down to door of apartment.

Owner's Response: We are grateful that the ladies have taken the time for a thoughtful review. We are aware of a number of needed improvements; however, the inadequacy of the shower head is new to us. The heat issue is odd, since there is a very adequate wall heater with a thermostat on the wall. The oven is in the adjacent kitchen and certainly very inadequate for the purpose. We provide a booklet to every tenant with information about Sunset Manor, and the heat for the living room is clearly described. We are also available to help 24/7.

Sunset Manor is okay

  • 4 of 5

Overall the unit was in a good location and clean. The dishes, utensils, pots and pans were just fine to nice. The barbeque was newer and nicer than the photo. The TV image quality was really good and great variety of channels. The bed and sheets were definitely okay-- we slept very well. There were plenty of good towels, dish soap and body soap, a filled salt and pepper shaker and sugar.

On arrival we were greeted by weird comments about our car by one host. Upon entering the unit that host got in a huff (my family told me) because I started looking around before his tour and he left without sharing his tips (I assume he had some). That did not feel like the welcome we expected.

So, we found the carpet shabby, the place smelling musty, water smelled rusty (we bought jugs) and the bathroom is old but intact and functional. The living area had an old brown sofa in +/- shape (not the one in the advertisement) and no other comfy chairs-- but the dining table is in the same space. The fridge and stove are small but good and functional. The micro is off the counter-- great because the counter space is small. No dresser. Oh, well!

After we cooked and relaxed and came and went over our three night stay we were able to easily overlook the lackluster quality I mentioned, enjoy the good and we still had a very, very good time. It's always fabulous to be at the river and we don't skip the Main Street Bistro for dinner and live music nor the ice cream next door. Be aware that you might not find it easily walkable to main shopping area because the road can be narrow and is hilly. The host Bill was nice :-).

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice little getaway at Sunset Manor. Ben and Bill were great hosts and made us feel right at home. There were televisions in every room, two computers, an impressive movie catalog, WIFI, play station games and plenty of brochures of things to do around town. Location was great too!
