About Johannes Zeller
I live in the house myself till the end of April 2015 and am sad to leave for my job- now it could be your home for a while..
Johannes Zeller purchased this House in 1820
Why Johannes Zeller chose Monschau
A great place to stay: The house offers everything you wish for your holiday: A lovely city centre with lots of bars and restaurants only a few footsteps away. You will feel like being back at least a hundred years in time. The house was built around 1820 and offers a parking space, a lovely garden, two bedrooms with 5 nice beds (for children more beds available) a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher oven and microwave for your comfort, washing machine and dryer in the cellar.

Great apartment, but issues with parking and vehicle ingress and egress.
We very much enjoyed the apartment. Everything about the apartment met or exceeded our expectations. However, the parking area was extremely small and we had to back blindly onto a very narrow busy street. Someone had to spot the driver and indicate when it was safe. Even then it was rather scary. Additionally, the iron gate was extremely narrow and even driving in took extreme care causing you to come to a stop and hinder traffic on this narrow, windy, busy street.
One other issue was that the wifi was out for several days. The owner ultimately got a new router and refunded an amount to cover our additional data charges, but it was inconvenient that I could not use my laptop for three days.
Superb base to explore the region
The best thing about the house is it's location. You are just a short walk from Monschau and its boutique shops and restaurants but it is still relatively quiet and out of the way. You are also well-placed to explore further afield in the Eifel region, which is very beautiful and interesting - well worth visiting. Aachen and Cologne are also not far away. There are supermarkets just up the road (just turn left out of the property and drive towards Aachen for five minutes), which is useful. And the private parking is a really good thing too (once you realise you have to open the gate outwards to get i!). Johannes is a good host and made sure we had everything we needed. The instructions are clear (even though I failed to follow them!). The accommodation is not luxiurious but the house had everything and was very comfortable. Certainly, it was fine for us, a family of four and a dog, and we would certainly stay again next time we are in the region. Altogether, strongly recommended.
An excellent house and a charming town
We stayed for two weeks at the Coachman’s house in Monschau in July 2016. The house was very spacious, comfortable and clean and was exactly as advertised on the website. The house is ideally situated on the edge of the town and is only a three minute walk from the centre. Johannes (the owner) was very friendly and helpful and gave us very good advice on what to see and do in the area.
Monschau is a very charming and friendly town with a very good selection of reasonably priced restaurants. The town has lots of streets and pathways that are very interesting to explore. Monschau is adjacent to the Eifel National Park and is surrounded by nature.
We visited with our two children (aged 5 and 8) and found that Monschau was an ideal base. Worthwhile attractions nearby include the Sommerbobbahn and Crazy Golf in nearby Rohren. The lakeside beach in Einruhr (it has a small admission fee) is very suitable for young children and adults. The village and castle of Reifferscheid are also worth visiting.
The cities of Aachen and Maastricht are nearby and visiting these is made easy via Park & Ride facilities (Waldfriedhof and Maastricht Noord). The amusement park at Valkenburg (1 hour) is also great for younger children http://www.pretpark-de-valkenier.nl/en/ .
We would highly recommend this house.
very nice stay
perfect location, clean house, all facilities presnt
Top standard in two floors
Few steps from central part of the lovely village. All newly renovated and very clean. Convenient and fully equipped home. Nice terrace to relax on. We were four people, all got own comfortable beds.
Thank you so much. It was great to have you as a guest!
Superbly located. Comfortable, spacious property
We stayed at the Coach house for one week and had a lovely time. The owner of the house was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and gave us lots of advice as to where we should visit during our stay. The house is very clean, well equipped and comfortable. The decor is modern and the rooms are spacious. There are two staircases which could be a problem for some people but we still found it suitable for our two young children. Outside there is a lovely terrace and a small garden which is ideal for children and from which there are breathtaking views. The house is very well located right on the edge of Monchau town and is only a few minutes walk from all of the restaurants, coffee shops etc in Monschau. In the opposite direction there is a small, modern town with large supermarkets and a few cafes, however a car would be needed to get to these.
Monschau is a stunning town with beautiful buildings, quaint shops and gorgeous coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. There are small playgrounds, river walks and wonderful sights to discover. We would highly recommend going on the little tourist train which leaves from the main square in Monschau.
Monschau is surrounded by Eifel National Park, so there are fabulous lakes nearby which are safe for swimming. We would recommend visiting Rurberg which is about a 20 minute drive away. It has a small, man-made beach by the lake which is within beautiful parkland. There are restaurants there and also mini-golf, plenty to keep you occupied for the day. I would highly recommend this property and we would love to return ourselves some day
Thank you so much for your kind words and your detailed description, Alma. It was great to have you as a guest and we would be happy to welcome you again very soon. Best regards Johannes
The house is situated on the edge of the old town with a wonderful view over the Rose Valley. The noise of the Eschbaches and the Rur complement the comfortable atmosphere of this sunny patch.
