About this property

Foxes' Retreat is a haven for writers, walkers and cyclists, set in the English Peak District on a small farm. The Hayloft is a self-contained and comfortably furnished four bedroomed apartment, with fully equipped kitchen with seating for six at the farmhouse table. Each bedroom has a writing desk and the wifi is excellent. There is a new bathroom and the sitting room looks over open fields. An outside patio area, to seat 8, is available to use with a gas BBQ on hand. There is plenty of walking from the farm gate, and the Tissington Trail is only a mile away. Ashbourne is five minutes' drive and Buxton Opera House and Pavilion Gardens are within half an hour in the car.

Adam and I both welcome visitors to our home, at Foxes’ Retreat, to enjoy this tranquil space with us, and with our friendly menagerie

Whether for a peaceful self-catering stay in The Hayloft, a Writing or Yoga Retreat, or an activity break in the Peak District National Park. We are now offering quilting teaching by Cait Lisle too! Please see below for her details.

I continue to hold a lifelong fascination with the way we all use language - whether it is to write for our own enjoyment, for work, or to share ideas with others on paper, or verbally to tell our stories. Using my nineteen years of teaching writing in a variety of settings, alongside my Psychology training, my intention is to create a holistic approach to nurturing writers at all stages of their journey.

I practice yoga alongside my lifelong passion of riding horses, as I like to keep fit both physically and emotionally. It is a pleasure to share our home with others, and to see them relax and find a space in which to connect with themselves away from their usual busy daily routine.

I look forward to meeting you, and to being along side you on your journey.

The Hayloft provides the perfect hidden spot from which to explore the Peak District. We are only 15 minutes from Alton Towers, as well as being close to Ashbourne and the Tissington Trail. Carsington Watersports centre is 15 minutes away from us.
