Andrea S. Young purchased this condo in 2007
When I purchased my condo in 2007 in Placencia I decided to make it an exclusive VBRO property rental to share with others! Our resort is not for the masses but for a fortunate few who like to take in the beautiful, but less-traveled road. Placencia is a great country with wonderfully friendly people and English-speaking for everyone’s ease of travel. You can spend US cash anywhere so barter for a deal! All our unit owners are fantastic people to meet and vacation with at Sunset Pointe. We are run by our private Strata Home Owners Association (HOA). I often describe Belize to people as; “the same as Hawaii was in the 1940's, except with cell phones”. There are NO Chain Stores, No Box Stores, so it’s perfect if you want to be away from the Madness!!!!
Fantastic is all I can tell you! There is NO getting sick on the water or food like many people do in most other Central American Countries. Placencia is a safe peaceful village with lots of old Belize ambiance.....No problems walking home after dark or your kids running around town or our property. There is Great drinking water in Placencia, yes right out of the taps! Adventures are yours in this part of the world and you will meet tons of very interesting people along the way. Both local and international and very multi-cultural.
UNIQUE BENEFITS FOR YOUR VISIT TO SUNSET POINTE
The Sunset Pointe property is very private, safe and not commercially run. It's located in a quaint fishing village at the tip of a 22-mile peninsula. Placencia Village is only a 10-minute walk from Sunset Pointe. In the distance lies the second largest living reef in the world and many islands with everything from cruise ports to cool restaurants. Sunset sailing and boating to check them out is available.
In the background there are the Mayan Mountains and ever changing sunsets. Just “Grab yourself a glass of wine gaze as the sun goes down. Try sitting on the docks late at night and watching the million stars and neon fish twinkling in the water. There are endless things to see and do in Belize I don't know where to start because I haven't seen it all yet after 8 years! Paradise and your best Adventures are truly at your doorstep when you stay at Sunset Pointe! I take the time to work closely with every one of my guests to make sure everything is set up for their vacation needs. I'm always here to answer all your questions!
Great place. Any issues were quickly resolved. Enjoyed the walk to town. Snorkeling with turtles, nurse sharks and rays by silk cayes. Finished with xip line. Recommend fishing boats 32ft and up to avoid rough ride in choppy waters. Dint forget to ask guide to bring live bait. Thanjs Sharene
Our stay in Placencia was a very memorable one. The house has stunning ocean views from all the rooms. The whole house was tastefully decorated and was filled with all the necessary accesories in abundance. I cannot thank enough Edwin and Emma who were so resourceful and super helpful. They would truly go above and beyond to help. The tours Edwin arranged for us with Alfred was the highlight of the whole trip. Overall if I ever come back to Placencia I will not think of staying anywhere else ever.
We stayed at Sunset Pointe in Placencia for 6 weeks - and would have loved to stay longer. The location is amazing - right at the southern tip of the peninsula - so you have water all around you. Nice, small beach right in front of the condo on the ocean side, and lagoon access around the other side. Sunsets are amazing from there. It's a 5 minute bike ride into the village: close enough to make it simple to scoot in to the market or for dinner, but far enough that there's no traffic or village noise.
The caretaker and family were eager to help out in any way they could. The kitchen was perfectly appointed - we cooked most meals, buying fresh fish and lobster in the village at every opportunity. There's a great breeze through the condo - we only ran the AC in the evenings when the mosquitoes started to fly.
We're planning our next trip down right now!
We stayed at this Sunset Point for the month of April 2016. It is a beautiful home and has every thing you could possibly need in the kitchen. The place is packed with any and all of your needs while staying. The pool was very well taken care of. The view from the front porch was of the cannel leading to the open water while on the back porch was a view of the ocean. There was a beautiful dock where you could sit and watch the boats go by or fish from. There was also a second dock where you could dock your boat. Town was a short walk and had many good restaurants and shops to brows through. We stopped at the ice cream store almost every day. It had the best ice cream which was home made. Tipsy Tuna is a great place to have a drink or eat, on the beach. Rick's Café had some very good pizza. Wendy's restaurant also had a nice menu and good food. If you do not have a car, Taxi service is good and very reasonable.
We arrived at the Belize airport early in the morning on Nov 28. We were met by Raul (Agami Tours) who drove us to Placencia. The trip took 4 hours but we stopped for groceries in Belize City, looked at some of the sites and stopped at several roadside vendors (bananas, pineapples, star fruit, etc). Raul is full of local information and kept us entered all along the way. Yes, it is much faster to fly from Belize city to Placencia, but you will miss out on much of the other perks of traveling with Raul. I should add that if you arrive in Belize City after 2 PM or so, you may want to stay in a local B&B in town, then drive down in the morning so you can see the sights. Raul will pick you up at the airport, drop you off and then come and get you in the morning for the drive. It is very civilized :-) Check with the owner, Sharene, about this.
One of the greatest assets of this condo is Sharene. Yes, it is a beautiful place with all of the amenities that could be asked for. However, Sharene goes out of her way to be helpful. There were no surprises, hidden problems or hassles. She gave us all the info we needed to make the trip smooth as silk. The bedrooms and living room have A/C but it is never needed since there are lovely doors that open up to the gentle tropical breezes. On one side is the Caribbean Sea, on the other side is the canal with the coastal mountains in the background. The kitchen if fully stocked with all the cooking and eating equipment needed even for the most demanding chef. Seriously, there are fancy wine glasses, a salad spinner, lots of spices – some I’ve never heard of, a four-slot toaster, and much more. The mattresses on both queen beds are perfect. We haven’t slept so well in months! We enjoyed swimming in the pool, going on tours and outings or just hanging out in the living room listening to the waves lapping on the shore outside. Our favorite activities are scuba/snorkel (SeaHorse Dive Shop) and the famous Monkey River Tour (Alfred was the best! - see Francisco the caretaker for info). We also enjoyed walking into the village for fresh fruit & veggies from the local vendors or groceries from the small mom & pop stores here. There are no Walmarts (thank goodness) LOL. The local people here are very friendly and, unlike places we’ve been to in Mexico, they seem to take good care of their pets.If you are looking for a quiet beautiful slice of a relaxing paradise, this perfectly fits the bill.
We spent several days at Sherene's condo at Susnet Pointe in Placencia. The condo was amazing as well as the caretakers Francisco and Rosa. Sharene could not have been any nicer, she and I exchanged many emails before my arrival and also while we were there. She wanted to make sure that our stay was as pleasant and filled with adventures as possible. We ate at the Barefoot Bar and Grill many times during our stay and enjoyed the food and atmosphere there. The people of Belize were friendly and welcoming. I would suggest staying at Sunset Pointe for anyone who plans a trip to Belize. The location is central to all attractions and very private if you just want to relax.
