Cabarete's own 'Vecinos' brings you that personal touch - the feeling of neighborhood, serenity of a tropical paradise, and the comfort of home. This beautiful jewel on the north shore of the Dominican Republic provides an incomparable island getaway, 'home-away-from-home' and excellent vacation destination! It has gorgeous mountain and ocean views, tastefully designed interiors and beautifully landscaped with many mature fruit trees and flowering plants.
Pick mangos, guavas, bananas, almonds, oranges, coconuts, breadfruit, or chinola from the gardens, when in season. Enjoy being surrounded by the beauty of orchids, bromelides, hibiscus, and inhale the exotic perfume of plumeria blossoms.
The complex boasts a fresh water pool and unique open-air common area. Relax in quiet , serene tropical ambiance, while enjoying your favorite beverage or surfing the net poolside, or at the thatched roof bar.
Our brand new condos come furnished with fridge, stove, cookware and dishes, bathrooms with tubs and unlimited hot water. Central a/c, high-speed internet Wi-Fi, and cable TV provide you with all the comforts of home while on your tropical vacation.
Cleaning materials are also provided or you can have a maid come in for $18/day. All you need to bring is a suitcase, your personal effects, and you're ready to move in and enjoy!
A gorgeous sand beach that stretches for miles in both directions, awaits 100 meters from your front door - perfect for long romantic walks or hunting for driftwood treasures.

Les & Lynda Lehmann purchased this condo in 2007
We bought this property because of its' exceptional location! At the east edge of world-renown-Cabarete, this tranquil acreage is minutes from the hustle of downtown and only 100 meters from the deserted golden sand beach stretching for seemingly endless miles. Your eye is drawn to the mature landscaping gracing the gardens, the mountain view inland past the lagoon, and the ocean out front.
Our unique location lets you enjoy peaceful tranquility, minutes from the busy downtown commerce and nightlife. The international airport at Puerto Plata (POP) is only 40 minutes west, and the DR's 'Pebble Beach' style golf course at Playa Grande is an hour east. A dozen beautiful beaches are within an hour's drive, as well as Ocean World Water Park, Marina and Casino where you can swim with the dolphins. Samana's whale watching is a few hours east along the coast. Numerous ancient caves dot our area where you can explore and swim in crystal clear underground pools, under stalactites overhead which ring like chimes when 'pinged'.

The property is very well maintained, and ideal for independent travelers. I came to Villa Vecinos with my wife and children, and the owners went an extra mile to accommodate our needs. Lynda and Les provided us with all necessary info about the environment, and gave a lot of insider's tips on traveling around.
The place is serene and very relaxing, rooms are clean and spacious beyond expectations. We enjoyed many walks on the beach and around Cabarete (it takes only 20 minutes to get there on foot, or 5 min in a cab). The beach is virtually across the road, with very decent bar and restaurant nearby.
Since there are only 4 units in the villa, you hardly feel presence of other guests and can quietly relax at the big pool, which is very clean and refreshing.
The kitchen is well equipped and fully functional; groceries may be easily purchased in Cabarete and fruits (amazingly tasty!) from street vendors.
We would be happy to come there again, and recommend Vecinos to all our friends.

Where to start is difficult as so much of our 3 months stay was frustrating.
We were in the upper 2 bed 2 bath condo with another couple of friends. They had arrived 2 days prior to my wife and I arrived they were not happy with the condition of the condo. We soon found out why, the condo from the rundown furniture, beds, bedding, towels, cutlery etc were all in need of either replacement or a good cleaning. We spent a couple of days cleaning the apartment and all the bedding and towels which we washed on a regular basis an kept for our own use.
Les the owner lives on the property and tries his best to solve any issues, however there are so many as the property has been let go.
Any maintenance required is carried out when the guests arrive and pay there dues instead of being carried out prior to there arrival.
The beach access is across the busy main road and either through an overgrown pathway or by going through the condo complex caberete east.
Once you get to the beach there is no shade or loungers and the sea in the area was always too rough to swim.
Why did we not just leave well our friends had already payed and after we cleaned we also payed as we we had payed the owner directly instead of going through an agency there was no way we were getting any money back.
We were assured that there was security in the complex WRONG there Are 4 dogs And 4 cats. (Check U tube les Lehmann)
When you book the impression you get that les is there with his wife Lynda she is living in Canada and has not been there since 2014.
All in all our 3 months stay in this condo was a great disappointment and we found out that if you check around there is accommodation in the area 2 bed 2 bath in much better locations in much better condition for cheaper or similar cost to Vecinos.
me and my family love it there was a great place the host was nice and was there when we needed him will recomend it to anyone to go there if they will let us will lobe to go again
Worked well for us as we enjoyed the 40 minute walk into Caberette. Either road or beach. Taxi or motor at night is a better choice for most. Great restaurants and great one right across the road. Property is accross the road from the beach. Price is fair for what you get, nor a deal but fair. Of you are looking for 3.5 plus star keep looking. If you are looking for a comfortable safe place at a fair price you may have found what you are looking for. Refreshing pool and showers are also refreshing some mornings but all in all no complaints. Suggest you always have TP in your travel pack.
I loved staying at Vecino's! I was there for 3 weeks over New Year's and into January, and it started to feel like home. I was made to feel welcome the minute I arrived, and Les addressed any small issues as soon as I identified them. Vecino's is not in the centre of Cabarete, but the walk (super healthy walk along the beach) and/or Motoconcho ride (50 pesos!) added to the adventurous feel of my trip. Saturday markets at Vecino's were so much fun, with artisans and vendors from the area as well as Les' amazing breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. And the dogs and cats were just so friendly. The pool is immaculate, the grounds are beautiful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We got our fill of coconuts, avocados, bread fruit falling from the trees, amazing! Thank you Les, it was a memorable vacation for me and for my family and friends, one that I will never forget. I miss the sound of your guitar and singing in the evenings, and your friendly "good morning" every day! And the memory of you walking me to the top level of Voy Voy's on New Year's Eve so that I could get a better view - fantastic! It was a great New Year's Eve. In fact, I loved it so much, I might just come back next year! It certainly beat the boredom and protectionism of staying at an all-inclusive resort - Vecinos made me feel like part of the community! Thank you!!!
We decided to rent the whole condo for a group of Approx. 20 for a very fun weekend in Cabarete. Lynda was a love throughout the whole process, ensuring that each and every one of us had the proper sleeping accomodation and making sure everything went out smoothly. Always prompt to reply, always kind, and we had a BLAST!
Would definitively book again, the best way to enjoy Cabarete !
I have travelled extensively and my experience here was the worst experience I have ever had. The bedroom floor was flooded on the night of my arrival. This was ust the beginning of two bad weeks. The air conditioning did not work, missing tiles in the ceiling of the bathroom, door handles falling off, no hot water and water pressure so low that you could not use the shower in the second bedroom, the aluminum edge of the patio door came off exposing the sharp edge of the glass, the dishes in the cupboards were filthy dirty and had to be washed, dogs and cats defectating all over, someone building wooden tables at 7 am using power saws etc. mould all over, a swimmng pool that was not clean and the deck cluttered with old tables and chairs and pool equipment, linens for the beds and towels that should have been replaced years ago. The last thing was the cockroaches I found in the kitchen. I know that if you go to the Caribbean you must expect them, but that still does not mean you want to find them in your apartment.
This sounds like a nasty disgruntled client but I will say this, the onsite managers and I talked several times and they are frustrated as well. The owners do not want to spend the money to maintain this property and I suggest that you avoid it. There were several other guests there at the same time and they feel the same as I.
Cabarete is world-renowned wind-water sports destination, with all the amenities a vacationer looks for - beach sports, souvenir or grocery shopping, bars, dining and night life.
Book a dune buggy excursion, beach horseback riding, jungle or river boat safari, mountain/waterfall rappelling or whale-watching tour from main street vendors. A walk through the Cabarete Caves feels like traveling back in time.
Windsurf lessons or kite-boarding classes and equipment are readily available from beach-side shops with instruction from the local pros.
World class golf is 50 minutes east at Playa Grande.
Ocean World Marina, Water Park + Casino is an hour west.
The historic San Felipe Fort at Puerto Plata was built by Christopher Columbus.
