Great condo for vacationing with adult children

  • 5 of 5

Well appointed and maintained condo with terrific lake views. Owner was fabulous to deal with when booking our last minute mini vacation - very responsive. I felt like she was personally vested in making sure we had an enjoyable vacation. We ate all of our meals "in"; kitchen was great for food preparation and storage. Enjoyed eating on the outside porch, taking in the lake views and boating action. The boat traffic was minimal during our mid-week stay, and allowed our girls to make their debut tub ride without our concern for other boaters. We all enjoyed easy access to the docks, pool and beach. Loved the check-in process and keyless entry. Terrific condo layout with bedrooms nicely separated from general living space allowed the girls to keep different sleeping hours from us (would also be great for families with young children). Super convenient to have washer/dryer within the unit. Community property at Mariners Landing was nicely maintained and quiet. Other visitors/owners were friendly although very few others were there during our mid-week stay. More basics were provided than I anticipated - paper towels, dish soap, bath soap, shampoo, salt/pepper, coffee filters, hair dryer. Would definitely come back, and have already recommended this unit to a friend.

Outstanding View Nice Condo Something for Every Family Member

  • 5 of 5

First time to SML and we are so happy we ended up at Mariner's Landing in this condo. After boating around most of the lake, I think Mariner's Landing has the best mountain view. Porch is great for hanging out and relaxing to see all there is to see happening on the lake or just gazing in awe at the mountains and the clouds surrounding them.

Communications with the owner were simple. Owner was responsive. The payment and check in procedures were easy to understand and execute. We submitted a reservation, confirmed and paid all via an iphone sitting in the stands at the Nats game.

Two young boys (6, 8) had plenty to do at the Mariner's Landing beach (sand no rocks, dock to swim to/dive off and water volleyball court.) Free kayak rentals - kids made it all the way across was the perfect thing to do in overcast/rainy weather. They enjoyed the pools. We played family tennis. I ran. We saw deer.

We rented a boat on the other side of the lake for a day. We navigated back to Mariner's Landing and tubed. It was great to dock and visit the condo for a break from the sun. The state park is just minutes away and has hiking trails.

Condo has everything you need for comfort and cooking meals. Internet was quick and reliable. We liked bringing/using our own towels. I didn't expect sink/bath soap, toilet paper, paper towels and dishwashing detergent, garbage bags but they were there when we arrived. Coffee filters were a bonus because we didn't bring large ones. (This was our first condo rental so I don't know what supplies are standard.)

Condo was very clean. The condo building was very quiet and very clean and was a comfortable temperature. Yes as mentioned in other reviews, the key-less entry was uber convenient. It's not something that sounds important when you are reading the reviews, but when you show up with your bags it is nice to walk right in without needing to formally check in.

Store with basics is very close. Food Lion is much farther but it is a pretty drive. There is no restaurant at Mariner's - looked like they closed up shop. The only things that were slightly disappointing and are not the responsibility of the owner are that the game room was never open which disappointed the kids and the outdoor hot tub jets didn't work so that very warm/still water was unappealing to me.

I highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a quiet, relaxing experience. If we chose to stay in a condo on our next visit, this is the first one I'll check.

Great Condo in Mariners Landing

  • 5 of 5

I had a great mini vacation at the lake. The condo had everything I needed and more. I love the layout of the unit, there is a door that separates the kitchen/living room from the bedroom area which is great if one person goes to bed early and the others want to stay up watching tv. Smith Mountain Lake is a perfect location for a weekend getaway. It was a great meeting point for my friend and I between Northern Virginia and North Carolina. We said that we should come back every year...I had such a great time that I told all of my family about it; now they want to have a "family weekend" at the lake. We will have to get a larger place to stay but I would definitely rent this condo again when its just myself and a couple other people.

Lake and Mountain Views

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely condo. We had such a fun vacation. Nice resort. Beautiful views of the lake and Smith mountain. Sooo relaxing to start off every morning with our coffee on the watefront porch. We really liked the convenient self check in keyless keypad system. No running around picking up keys or waiting at a rental office to check out keys. We will be back soon!

Beautiful condo

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful condo was tastefully decorated, had all the basics provided, a great porch overlooking the pool and water, and even a key-less entry system, which is great when you do not want to carry around keys. This location is a very short drive to Roanoke and Lynchburg although Smith Mountain Lake has plenty of great restaurants and entertainment in this area by car or boat. My husband and I will definitely stay here again.
