Cottage on the Big Lake has a beautiful sandy beach excellent for swimming, walking, sun bathing, or just taking in the view. During the leafy seasons the shore has a wild feel because all of the houses are hidden from view by the foliage.
The cottage has a deck with a great view for meals or lounging. (see web site). The interior of the cottage is newly renovated with a new kitchen, bath, and bedrooms. There is a enclosed outdoor shower. Pentwater is a charming 1890's town with good restaurants and shopping. Five miles south is Silver Lake with its famous dunes and dune buggy rides. Silver Lake features lots of kid's activities.

Applause for the sunsets
Apparently it is a custom in Michigan to clap the moment the sun goes down to encourage it to return tomorrow...or so we were told. The sunsets here deserved standing ovations. A choice box seat for each evening's show is worth choosing this place over any other.
During our stay we witnessed turkeys courting on the beach, geese nesting, deer approaching within arm's reach, swans with cygnets, ducks, loons and humming birds at our doorstep. In late April through early May, the yard was bursting with daffodils and the dunes cluttered with fuzzy pussy willows. The cottage is centrally located within a few minutes' drive of the spectacular dunes at Silver Lake, fun shopping in Pentwater, cross country skiing or hiking trails in the state forests.
Inside, on one of the bookshelves, we noted a coffee table book picturing Lake Michigan cottages. The owners have taken its content to heart. Whether your days are sun-filled or rainy, upstairs or downstairs, the lake imbues the entire house. A giant table, as comfortable as a restaurant booth, invites you to linger for after dinner conversation; play cards, do puzzles, keep the cook(s) company. For those who prefer to watch the game--or cartoons--there's plenty of room to lounge upstairs and out of the way, but beware: the lakeview there will tempt you back.
The stairs to the shore are steep, perhaps difficult for small children but could also be appreciated for the un-ease of access to water's edge without adults present. While there are houses on either side, each place is oriented in such a way that it feels very private.
As to comfort inside, the spiral staircase to upstairs might be a challenge to toddlers and is a bit worrisome for early walkers or crawlers. Give that lofty space to adults or older kids and keep babies on the main floor. There are enough dishes to serve a 12 course meal to a dozen people (slight overkill) but we sure loved the cast iron pans, especially one huge wok!
The bedrooms are for sleeping and the baths strictly practical. The dishwasher and washer-dryer are large, functional and much appreciated. This cottage may not be fancy but it is as comfortable as your favorite pair of shoes and I guarantee you'll slip into it like a second skin.
Great time with amazing sunset views
Well maintained and kept home. Clean and a fantastic deck our family of 5 spent most of our time on. Owners were great communicators. 75 steps to a great beach and centrally located to the dunes and pentwater. Highly recommended with awesome sunsets each nite.
We are so happy you and your family had a good time. We also love the sunsets.

Extraordinary Location on Lake Michigan
This was our second stay at this cottage and as equally enjoyable as the first. The cottage is very unique and comes with a Lake Michigan sandy beach and unbelievable sunsets. It is probably not for people who have difficulty climbing stairs because of the 77 steps down to the watefront and the circular stairway to the second floor. It is cozy and very clean. The owners are very helpful, but not intrusive at all.
We loved our stay! The cottage is rustic but cozy and your cannot beat the view!
The wonderful cottage on the Lake
What a delightful surprise this property was and is.The landscaping is very natural in keeping with the cottage and it is a lovely cottage with a great deck with an awesome view of the lake. The furnishing fit the cottage - comfy - kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms cozy. We loved the upstairs sitting room and were so happy that there was no TV in the living room. The view pictured is the view that you get when sitting and relaxing on the spacious deck. Walking down to the lake there are chairs to sit by the water and gaze out and/or read.
We so enjoyed our time there and were very very delighted with the premises - we loved the natural plantings in the front and the outdoor shower was something else!! Great sunsets to remember our by. Hope to see this cottage next year.

We are located directly on Lake Michigan with a breathtaking unobstructed view of the water. We are 5 miles south of Pentwater and 5 miles north of Silver Lake. We are near cherry and apple orchards and fields of asparagus. The charming village of Pentwter has shopping and places to eat. There are lots of kids activities in Silver Lake.
