Cabanas in Paradise on a beautiful Caribbean beach.
Our private cabanas ( we have 2 available) are approximately 300 square feet each, and have great views of the ocean, two beds (queen and full), a private bathroom, mini-fridge, a dinning table, chairs, and a closet. We furnish purified drinking water and offer free WiFi. The cabanas are steps from the Caribbean Ocean (20 ft). They offer the perfect mix between the Robinson Crusoe adventure you want, and the comforts of home that you need. There is a shared outdoor kitchen with a stove top and a bbq grill you are welcome to use. There are 2 restaurants/watering holes on the bay, within walking distance, that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and a third that is open for breakfast only. There is a mini-super on the bay for essentials but Tulum, with full supermarkets is only 6 miles away.
Our property is located in the cove of the Tankah Bay by the point. It is extremely tranquil and secluded, with wonderful ocean views. Imagine stepping out of your Cabaña onto a sandy beach and the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea inviting you to step into her warm clear waters. In the evening enjoy the magical stillness on our moon lit cove and watch the stars come out to play. Nature welcomes you home to your 'Slice of Paradise'.

About Monika Rajala
We are a retired couple from California that have been living the good life in Mexico for over 30 years. We would love to share our little 'Slice of Paradise' with you.
Monika Rajala purchased this Cabin in 1987
Why Monika Rajala chose Tulsayab
When we discovered Tankah Bay, we just fell in love with it. We have always joked that you can see 27 shades of turquoise when you look into the bay. We were drawn to the area because of its magical energy, and the sweetness of the Mayan people. The beauty , after 30 years never ceases to amaze us. It is truly a SLICE OF PARADISE.
What makes this Cabin unique
Pristine beauty away from the hustle and bustle of the big resort areas. Slice of Paradise is located near the end of a road that gets VERY little traffic. The morning sun rises and evening sunsets are breathtaking. You wake up to the sounds of the ocean and the tropical birds signing. It does not get any better than here In Tankah Bay, near Tulum.

Perfect tropical getaway!
For our needs this could not have been any better. A very comfortable cabana within feet of the ocean. Listen to the gentle sounds of the ocean at night and awake to the sound of tropical birds inviting you out to a perfect sunrise. A wonderful caretaker brought morning pastries and coffee and cleaned each day. Beautifully landscaped, furnished, and within walking distance excellent small restaurants. If you want down to earth simplicity in your accomodation this is the place. Cannot wait to return.
We have vacationed in the tropics many times in many locations, but no place compares to "Slice of Paradise". A cabana 30 feet or so from the shore, a beach with hammocks and palm trees for shade, easy access to snorkeling right off the shore, peaceful yet not totally isolated, clean but not ostentatious, one of the best cenotes nearby, several restaurants withing walking distance, and great hosts and staff and cat Gordo. My wife asked me with tears in her eyes if we would ever go back for our third visit, and, of course, we will sometime.
We had a fantastic stay. Thanks to Abraham and Felicia for their excellent care. What you should know - you are paying for an incredible location. The bay is beautiful - we snorkeled several times and saw a manta and many fish. Tulum is not far - we would drive in daily and have a late morning or afternoon meal - pick up snacks for dinner and breakfast items for the following day and just utilize the outdoor kitchen on the property (its basic but it does the job). This is a no fuss place in a beautiful setting. It's a place for quiet time, for being present and just reflecting on life. If you are high maintenance or high end you should stay away and leave this gorgeous place for folks who can roll with the small idiosyncrasies of the property. Some examples - we stayed in cabana one - the beds are super firm and the shower pressure is non-existent (but the outdoor shower works great!). The view is to die for and the cabana was roomier than we expected. All of this is to say - if you're the kind of independent traveller who can cope in a generous way with these small issues then you will be richly richly rewarded here. It's a special place and me, my husband and our teenager are forever grateful for our time here. Thank you so much.
Beautiful property and welcoming hosts
I stayed at Slice of Paradise with my partner for 7 nights in January. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. Art and June were so welcoming and the daily coffee and pastries outside our door were much appreciative. We loved watching the sunrise while enjoying our breakfast everyday. The cabana is roomy with two beds and a large bathroom. There is a shower in the cabana but it has low water pressure. I chose to use the outdoor shower, which was a unique experience. The property is located within a gated community. I always felt safe. The beach is well maintained and quiet. You do share the beach with the other cabana on site but there were other guests around for only part of our trip. There are some rental properties nearby but they have their own beach area. The property to our north had several guests that played loud music at times. We spoke to June and she took care of it so don’t be afraid to speak up about the noise. I would recommend bringing water shoes, as there are sharp rocks off the beach. The water stays shallow and calm for a ways out, and you can even snorkel in some of the shallow areas a couple hundred meters off shore. We rented a car, though the cabana is within walking distance of a couple restaurants. We enjoyed the food and service at Blue Sky Hotel, which is only a few minutes walk from the cabana. Casa Cenote is within walking distance as well. Tulum proper is about 15 minutes away by car. Look out for the speed bumps! We loved Tulum and were so pleased with our stay at Slice of Paradise. I was genuinely sad to leave and have been thinking about the next time we can return.
Maybe the last slice of paradise?
We were fortunate to find this place in the Mayan Riviera. Located in the Tankah Bay, a few miles away from Tulum.
The place is on a private road, gated, surrounding the bay where there are mostly million-dollar homes usually empty. There are only a couple of small boutique hotels with a restaurant.
The owners, Art and June are just the nicest couple and gracious hosts., They've lived there for many years and built on their property 2 spacious 1 Rm/1B enchanting cabins . These have access to an outdoor kitchen. And also a "Casita" which has in it a full kitchen.
The beautiful beach and bay can be admired from your cabin window, just a few feet away and it's all of it for you. Pack some sandals because the sea bottom can be rough on the Mayan coast.
I don't know if this paradise will last. But make sure to visit it while it's still there.
If you're looking for beaches with rows of expensive and crowded hotels and restaurants built side by side, crowds of tourists all over and dangerous, noisy roads:
then this is NOT the place for you, but you'll be sure to find many such places all along the coast.
Amazing private beach getaway
Slice of Paradise is exactly that! For those looking for a beach getaway that is private, peaceful and away from the crowds of Tulum this is the place for you. We stayed a week in Cabana #1 before heading to Cancun for our 2nd week in Mexico and as soon as we reached the busy tourist resorts of Cancun we were wishing we were back at Slice of Paradise. Art and June are wonderful hosts, the property and cabanas are ON THE BEACH, perfect for a romantic getaway yet close to town (we rented a car but taxis are easy to hire and very affordable) and you can also walk to a couple of restaurants in Tankah Bay. We loved the paddle board and snorkeling gear provided by Art and June, the morning coffee and pastries delivered to our door every morning was a wonderful treat and the entire property was well maintained, comfortable and everything we wanted. We will be back for sure!
Tankah is a great area - it's off the beaten path but close to everything. The Cabana is on a gorgeous stretch of beach on the sparkling clear turquoise wates for the Caribbean. It is protected by a barrier reef. You can swim, snorkel or Stand Up Paddle (SUP) off of our beach. There are 3 restaurants in the area within walking distance. There is fresh water Cenote to swim in. There is a dive shop in walking distance where you can arrange trips to snorkel, dive or fish, rent snorkel gear and kayaks. There are miles of beach coastline to explore. Tulum, 6 miles south, is nearby and has 2 major grocery stores and plenty of shops and restaurants. There are several attractions and ruins nearby. Swim with sea Turtles (year round); Sea Turtle Nesting/Hatching (May to Sept); Swim with Dolphins: Experience Cirque du Soleil; Explore Mayan Ruins; Climb Pyramids at some of Mayan Ruins; Visit Cenotes and Explore Caves; Float down Underground Rivers; Zip Line over the Jungle and into Cenotes and Caves; Snorkel; Scuba Dive; Visit Sian Kaan' Biosphere Reserve; Swim with Whale Sharks (May to September) and see Manta Rays in the wild; (off of Cancun)
