EXCERPTS FROM MY GUEST BOOK
Thank you so much for your hospitality, Andy. Your passion for S.F. really shone through! We were highly appreciative for all the help you so freely gave - the airport pick-ups, the orientation tour (and the stop at twin peaks), the laundry and the ride to the tour bus
We can not thank you enough; suffice to say that you contributed to our enjoyment of this lovely city.
We had an amazing stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The apartment was spotlessly clean and perfectly positioned in a charming neighborhood full of local color.
Thanks Andy - Hope to see you again!!
Andrew was very nice and accommodating and gave me a tour around the city
Upon our arrival at San Francisco airport we were picked up by the property owner Andy. This a service that Andy offers for a small donation and we were more than happy to accept. It was well worth it as he promptly took us on a quick tour of the area pointing out places of interest and giving us a feel of the history of the place! The property on the outside was charming and full of character while the inside was spacious, comfortable and clean. Good size kitchen and lounge area, small bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was nice and well stocked with shampoo, shower gel and creams, etc. Andy was really helpful with suggestions and useful advise and was always available if we needed help with anything.
The property is in a good location, the subway is just a few blocks away (the junction of Castro and Market Street). The centre of Castro is lively and vibrant and we always felt safe there. If we ever revisit San Francisco we would definitely stay here again. Best wishes to Andy and thanks for a great stay.
Ian and Jane,
Andy is a terrific host. He helped gets us settled into the place, which made it much easier for us to enjoy our stay. The apartment was great, with lots of room and everything we needed. It's located on the bus line, and it's just a few blocks away from the Castro Muni station, so getting around is easy. I would definitely want to come back.
Andy you have the most amazing house, your Hospitality the best ive ever encountered, staying at your home was an absolute pleasure. I would recommend to anyone who visites san Francisco to book your services. My parents and I had an absolutely amazing stay in ur beautiful city. Thank you for being making us feel at home.
My husband, 2 teenage sons and I stayed at Andy's flat last week and had a great time. He was a wonderful and welcoming host. He even helped us find an urgent care clinic nearby when we needed it our first night. The location is right in the heart of the city in the Castro district. We loved that neighborhood! There are shops and restaurants a few blocks away. Orphan Andy's is a great local spot for breakfast. We ate there twice!
The walk back up the hill to our flat was a challenge for us "flatlanders" so consider yourself warned. :) We were also a bit shocked at how cold it was in San Francisco for this time of year, so pack plenty of layers. And parking was a little scarce when we came home late one night.
We would highly recommend this property and host!
We absolutely loved staying with Andy. Before we arrived, he provided lots of info about transportation in the area and things to do. He also offered to pick us up at the airport, but we had a rental car from the previous week while exploring the redwoods. When we arrived, Andy showed us around the apartment, then took us an a driving tour of the neighborhood, showing us his favorite places and giving us an extensive history of the area. Castro is now my favorite neighborhood in SF! He also showed us how and where to park - which was doable but we decided it was too much of a hassle given the easy efficient public transportation system so ended up returning the rental car early - and got a ride back from the airport from Andy. The apartment was clean and neat and was well stocked. The only thing I think should be clarified in the listing was that it listed a washer and dryer in the amenities. In fact, Andy had a w/d in the basement but we did not have access to it. Instead, he offered to do our laundry for us. We did end up having him wash some of our stuff but I felt a little badly about it - we had just come from a 3-day camping outing so it was not just routine laundry! But other than that little glitch, our stay was fabulous, and when we return to SF, Andy's place will be at the top of our list!
San Francisco has both bay and ocean exposure. The apartment is on a hill with a view of downtown San Francisco also has fog; layering clothing is advised. We have a great public transit system with trolley cars acquired from around the world and beautifully restored and of course the classic San Francisco cable car. We have many incredible National Parks less than one hour away and we have street fairs where artists sell their work all summer long. And with 24/7 concierge service if it can done in or around San Francisco, I can make it happen.
Other Activities: Alcatraz, Academy of Sciences, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and of course a ride on the cable car.
