EXCERPTS FROM MY GUEST BOOK
Thank you so much for your hospitality, Andy. Your passion for S.F. really shone through! We were highly appreciative for all the help you so freely gave - the airport pick-ups, the orientation tour (and the stop at twin peaks), the laundry and the ride to the tour bus
We can not thank you enough; suffice to say that you contributed to our enjoyment of this lovely city.
We had an amazing stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The apartment was spotlessly clean and perfectly positioned in a charming neighborhood full of local color.
Thanks Andy - Hope to see you again!!
We had such a wonderful stay at Andy's place - this is the perfect way to get an authentic experience while being able to explore the city from this central location.
Andy is an exemplary host, making you feel welcome in his home from the moment you get there. He also takes you on a tour of the area and is very knowledgeable about the city. The locals we met in the area also make you feel welcome and are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Make sure you try the herbal shampoo/conditioner and hibiscus bath gel - they are divine! We even purchased some (and others!) to take home.
Thank you Andy for making our stay so memorable - we loved our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stay with you again if we travel back to this gorgeous city.
OMG, I love the CA climate! This place is a Queen Anne style "stick" house with lots of windows, a great view of S/F and a side door (fire escape) to open-up the space to the outside which I really enjoyed. Our abode was on the third floor, counting the garage, so plan on climbing stairs. Fact is, you better get used to climbing in general if you've not been to S/F before. One of several units Andy rents out in this building, we found the space to be perfect for two. Three people would fit OK but if you're bring four, you had better be very compatible with each other or too young to care.
Andy is an awesome individual. When it comes to hospitality, he defiantly "gets it". I'm pretty critical but I could find nothing of sustenance to complain about. City transportation access right outside the front door. We would defiantly return.
Thanks Andy, you made our stay most enjoyable and very memorable.
Andy is the quintessential host! He was so accommodating starting with our pick-up at the airport right through to our drop-off at the car rental before leaving SF. Castro is perfectly positioned to easily get around SF by MUNI (our choice) or car. The apartment has 1 bedroom, but also 2 double futons in the living room. Didn't use the kitchen much, but it is large and perfect for our family of 4.
Would definitely return to see Andy and SF again!
Great location and host! Wonderful bath products in the bathroom - body wash shampoo/conditioner all smelled amazing! Enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you Andy!
If you want an authentic SF experience, you must stay here. Andrew is a wonderful, gracious host. If you are a restaurant foodie, your options are endless. If you want to explore markets and cook for yourself, the kitchen has everything you need.
We stayed here for almost 2 weeks while I worked in my company's SF office. We could not have had better help at our beck and call, including laundry service! I was too shy to ask kind Andy to wash my stuff, but he would have done so without batting an eye. We also had our yappy and, I'm just going to say it, kind of obnoxious rescue dogs with us. We love them to death and get their anxieties, but not everyone does. Andy was kindness himself. Oh and side plug - his partner has a dog-walking business.
Final rave: the flat has the MOST WONDERFUL, long, bathtub. In addition, you have a plethora of wonderful bath products, shampoos, and conditioners to use. If you have SF history, you might remember the shop on 24th street in Noe Valley called Skin Zone. The shop lives on at www.skinzone.com, and the flat is stocked with shower gels, shampoos, conditioners - anything a bath fiend could want. I recommend the Hibiscus bath/shower gel and green apple shampoo.
All in all - I hope to stay here again, and wish Andrew much success.
Starting with airport pick up, our 12 days at Andy's started out just right. He gave us a tour of the area and stopped at Twin Peaks to get a view of the city. On that clear day, we could see forever. Transportation was very easy and we went somewhere new everyday. from Fishermans Wharf, Alcatraz, Napa Valley Wine Tours, Beach Blanket Babylon, a play and Blues club and a fantastic Drag show. The best was The Castro: the real treasure. We enjoyed the Castro theater several times, all the shopping, clubs and dining were available close to us. We fell in love with San Fransisco. Jim and I want to thank Andy for sharing his knowledge and history with us. Staying here MADE our trip. Thanks for everything Andy, hope to see you again. Jim and Tami
San Francisco has both bay and ocean exposure. The apartment is on a hill with a view of downtown San Francisco also has fog; layering clothing is advised. We have a great public transit system with trolley cars acquired from around the world and beautifully restored and of course the classic San Francisco cable car. We have many incredible National Parks less than one hour away and we have street fairs where artists sell their work all summer long. And with 24/7 concierge service if it can done in or around San Francisco, I can make it happen.
Other Activities: Alcatraz, Academy of Sciences, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and of course a ride on the cable car.
