Owner is South Georgia attorney and judge who loves the resort amenities and beauty of Sandpiper Cove. Owner loves the fact that only at Sandpiper Cove can one enjoy the harbor/canal, private gated beach, great dinning, and golf in one resort. Owner's other vacation property was featured in Southern Living Magazine. Therefore, owner takes great effort to provide a unique upgraded atmosphere in this vacation property.

This unit has upgrades and views that are rare. It rests on saltwater boating canal. Teeming with boats, fish, and birds, it has commanding views of multiple holes of the golf course. Being a second floor unit, views of golfers, boaters, and wildlife is enchanting. Easy stroll to private beach, four star restaurant, tennis, 5 pools, and other amenities.

What makes this condo unique

This unit is in the middle of everything at Sandpiper Cove. Short stroll to all amenities. Sit on high end balcony furniture sipping a drink looking over boating, fish, wildlife, and golfers. Then get up, cut off the 42 inch LCD and take a short stroll to beach, dinning, golf, pools, hot tub, or boat ramp. Stroll up and down the harbor district taking it all in.

This unit is our favorite in Sandpiper. Destin is a great place to spend a vacation with family. We loved the security of being in a gated community. The beach was beautiful and easy to access. We liked the fact this portion of the beach was not too crowded even at peak season. We also loved the location which is close to shopping, activities and good food. The free golf course is a great benefit. We found the unit to be very clean, fresh smelling and in good repair. The kitchen was well equipped and all appliances worked as expected. The air unit provided a cool retreat from the beach. The beds were comfortable and plenty of linens and towels were provided. Parking was right in front of the unit.

We found the price to be very competitive with other units. The owner was easy to contact and answered all of our questions. He was very friendly and a great source of local information. Check out was easy.

The condo was okay but is in major need of an upgrade

I'll start by saying this was our first vacation with my wife and our 2 young boys. My family goes to Destin every year for the 4th of July so we decided to go with this year. I'll start by saying the property owner is very responsive and answered our calls and texts almost immediately; which is always a good thing. But the cons outweighed the pros here in my opinion. Here is a list of the things we were not pleased with.

1. The pull out couch had to be 15 plus years old. It was stained and extremely faded and it sunk in when you sat on it. Then when you pulled it out for a bed, the mattress was so old it sunk completely in at the top of the mattress and you felt every bar and spring.

2. All the mattresses for the beds were old and cheap.

3. The simple appliances like toaster and coffee maker did not work.

4. The wood on the balcony was full of rotting wood and even had a wasp nest on it that had to be taken care of after we got there.

5. There were ants EVERYWHERE. We had to keep all groceries in the fridge because anything you left out would bring a colony of ants within minutes.

6. All the tub drains were clogged or semi clogged and drained super slow.

I'm not trying to be picky here but I had 3 other family members at the same complex and they all rented 2 bed condos and they were all night and day nicer. And they paid either the same or cheaper than what we paid. I just think if you're going to keep charging this amount for a rental property, it would make sense to keep things nice and updated.

All in all we had a nice time as a family and we will definitely be coming back down next year.

Owner's Response: Untrue shocking allegations in this review by a person whom I have never even communicated or done business with. The unit was rented during this period and all communications were with a different female individual who was very complimentary. My family takes great pride in keeping our unit in great shape and updated. I am available and responsive 24/7 to all who rent our unit. Our sofa and living room furniture is only two years old and purchased at a top end furniture store that carries brands like Tommy Bahama. It is not faded or in bad shape and is actually featured in recent pictures. We replace furniture on ongoing basis. Each year we spend money on updates. Our mattresses are not "old or cheap" and are even encased in protective covers and padding not found at most hotel chains. I cannot confirm or deny that there was a wasp nest on the back of a common building. As soon as I learned of this claim, I immediately reported to security for maintenance to take care of it. They indicated there was not one. I do confirm that the association does regular pest control. I also confirm there is no ongoing sugar ant issue. The unknown reviewers allegation about the deck is not true. I have immediately reported the claims to the responsive owners association which is responsible for inspection of exterior items. The deck is adequately painted and looks nice. It is attractive with over $3500 in high end outdoor furniture overlooking harbor canal and golf course. We sit on it with our children. I have a cleaning and inspection crew that inspects the unit and checks to see if things work, including appliances. Toaster and coffee maker were purchased this year. They work. Furthermore, I have team to immediately replace any broken items. Renters just have to let me know. I recently had plumbing upgrades in unit and will at my expense confirm there are no issues with plumbing. We care about our guests and are very responsive when there are issues. The lady renter was complimentary, grateful, and never mentioned the list of misleading allegations from someone with whom I never communicated or transacted business.
