This is Hawaii and the North Shore as its best.
Incredible property!!! The grounds are amazing. The pool area is breathtaking. Everything provided in the kitchen to make a meal. Close to food trucks which was nice when we didn't feel like cooking.
House was very clean and plenty of room for everyone to spread out and sitting areas were large enough to accommodate the 8 adults we had staying here.
Perfect property for a little slice of paradise. The house is very spacious. There were 6 adults. We never bumped into each other. The kitchen is big enough to hold 4 cooks comfortably. There are no words to describe the grounds except breathtaking. The pool area is gorgeous when the waterfall is on. The pool is not heated, but does not need to be. On a scale of 1- 10, I give it an 11.
My family (4 adults + 2 kids age 5 & 7) stayed one week at this lovely house. It was our 6th visit to Hawaii, but first time with kids and grandparents. We wanted a house big enough and suitable to accommodate 3 generations. My husband, I and our two kids stayed in the master bedroom and loft on the 1st floor while the grandparents stayed in the two rooms on the ground floor. (there is also an extra room to rent "under" the house which would have been a good idea as we needed 4 rooms). The house is well kept, spacious and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The grounds are very large and beautifully landscaped; we felt we had a private park.
The pool area is at the far end of the grounds, and is very very nice - probably the nicest we have ever seen. It is like having a private resort pool. The BBQ and tiki bar is also located here. Only minus is that it is not close to the house, so you'll have to carry down everything needed for dinner. Also the roof of the Tiki bar (pool house) is not rainproof at all, and we had quite a lot of rain in the evenings, so we could not sit by the pool and eat. A shame, it would have been very cozy.
The Northshore location is recommendable for everyone who would like to get away from the most touristy areas on Oahu, but it is still close enough for many of the must see places, which is not around Honolulu any way. The house is just 5 min up the hill from the coast, where you'll have beaches, snorkeling spots and (a quite pricy) Footland. For morning runners, I recommend to drive down to Footland, park and run along the coast using the bike path.
All in all we can only recommend this house, especially for families.
My husband and I, along with his sister, my adult niece and her 18 year old son spent a week in this incredible property for a (much too short) week. Just a short, couple mile drive up a bluff from the main highway, it's a private world away from the cheek by jowl beach homes. The grounds are breathtaking, filled with lush, tropical plants and trees, and a wonderfully large grass area between the house and pool. The pool looks like it belongs in a high end resort, with the incredible waterfall feature you can turn on while you are down there! We spent many hours down there enjoying both it and the tiki bar/BBQ area. The house was super comfortable and very clean. We let my niece and her son have the master bedroom and loft area and took the downstairs makai side bedroom, which has stunning views of the ocean and a slider to walk right out onto the wrap around lanai. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to do most of the cooking there and Foodland is just at the bottom of the bluff (though hitting Costco in Honolulu before driving up is advisable). Every aspect of our stay from the owner Gary to the ease of communication with the on island manager Ellyn was smooth and easy. We can't wait to return!
We stayed for two weeks and loved the house and the grounds. It was sooo lush and beautiful. If you visit Hawaii, this property is the way to go. It is not only decorated Hawaiian style, but with all the comforts of a modern house. The pool was a world of its own. You truly felt like you were in a tropical oasis. Our next trip to Oahu will be back to this Pupukea Estate. Mahalo Jewel
We stayed for a week in April, we were 2 families with younger kids (ages 8-10), we had plenty of space, we loved the pool area! The house has everything you need, the bedrooms are very spacious, 2 full bathrooms, and a kitchen that has just about everything. You are a short drive to some of the coolest surf towns with friendly people, cool beaches, the best shaved ice in Hawaii etc. We took a surf lesson at the North Shore surf shop, all 4 kids consistently got up on their boards (ages 8, 8, 10 and 10). The instructors were some of the best surfers in the world. We also took a helicopter ride around the island from turtle bay, it was super cool. We hope the plan our trip back to this home in 2017.
The property is a world of its own on a hilltop overlooking the North Shore, and is 5 minutes from world class surfing, snorkeling, swimming, windsurfing, kiteboarding, kayaking, and beachcombing.
