This stunning traditional colonial style home is an oasis of tranquility, with grand ocean views, gracious open space, and surrounded by tropical forest and coastal splendor. Designed to be a secluded get-away home to truly escape the noise and hustle and bustle of usual tourist destinations.
In gated community with optimum security, management, housekeeping etc.
If you seek solitude, nature, an unspoiled beach, and peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Remember, no malls, fast food, tee shirt shops, arcades etc. Just Nicaragua at her best.
The Beaches: The project has its own private secluded safe swimming beach, called Redonda Beach. Water temperatures vary from high seventies (F degrees) to mid eighties. (22 to 30 C) The beach area has lovely shaded places to relax. Surf is generally mild, and safe for family enjoyment. Secluded little bar and restaurant on the beach.
The village of Gigante nearby, has a larger beach, suitable for beginner surfing and longer beach walks. Native fishing boats abound, and interaction with the locals is encouraged.
Activities: Hiking, fishing, surfing, ziplining, horseback riding and boating are all possible in the general area. The home has a binder with details, phone numbers, maps, and suggestions. The house manager can also arrange sightseeing, tours, transportation etc.
Getting there, and shopping: Its best to rent a vehicle at the airport and drive to the project. Directions will be emailed upon request. If driving is not an option, we can arrange airport or hotel pickup.
Very good shopping is available at large supermarkets in Managua, the best being La Colonnia at the Galleria Shopping center. Basics are available in the village, and a new good supermarket (Pali) is in Rivas, around 45 minutes away.
Great fruits and veggies available from native stalls everywhere, at very low prices.
We built this home as a personal get-away to a warm and genuine community.
Els van Woudenberg purchased this villa in 2005
We fell in love with the stunning ocean view with waves crashing on the rocks, and the wonderful community and friendly locals
Experience Nicaragua as it truly is. No glossy tourist trap. But, all the comforts of home.
This was our first trip to Nicaragua. I have been using Home away/VRBO with most of my trips. I decided to rent Casa Ezulwini looking to be in safe area, close to the beach, and close to activities. After many hours and days looking into houses, Ezulwini seemed the best choice.
Our planning started 8 weeks prior the trip. As soon as we rented the house, we received the welcome letter for Nicaretreats, and Octavio, the tour guide / personal assistant from there started to communicate with us to organize our vacations. Octavio gave me several options for all the activities we wanted to do.
The day of our trip, Octavio was waiting for us and gave us tour of the house . We arrived late because we got lost after leaving the airport.
We were impressed with the house, exactly as the pictures, and the arts in the walls were to die for.
The redonda beach, 10 min walk from the house, was beautiful. Clean, private and with a restaurant/bar.
The next days we had our fishing, remote beach, surf activities, all of them went very well.
The best of everything was to hire the chef/cooker Conchita. She cooked our catch of the day better than any restaurant.
The house was nicely clean everyday, and every single person we met were very happy to work with us.
At night the sounds of the waves were impressive , with the birds making music to our ears.
Maegan and Mike, the managers of the properties, were available by email/text at all times and answered all our questions.
Why a 4 star and not a 5? Nothing related to the fantastic staff
I take one star away for the remote location , the out of powers, and the difficult access to the beach . When I rented the house I requested beach front , and yes , you can see the beach, but you need to request transportation or walk or almost climb for 10 min, so it is difficult to bring stuff to the beach. The generator only maintain the electricity for about 4 hours and then you are with no lights. It happened 3 times in 4 days. I will recommend a bigger generator , because the climate can get really hot and humid. I will also include detailed instructions how to get to the house, like using " aquawellness resort" in the navigator instead of the address provided . I will insist the renters on stopping at Rivas for groceries prior arrival to the house.
Now, you will not find a more beautiful house, with better service provided by Mike,Octavio,Meagan and Conchita, they made you feel like Royalty and family at the same time.
My group stayed at this location for the week and the home was absolutely beautiful! The location was perfect , and the services were excellent. The team from Nica Retreats handled everything we requested in a quick and professional manner ! We will be back !
I can honestly say that our stay in Casa Ezulwini was magnificent. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Veronica the care taker who was a delight, always very attentive to our needs. The house was very comfortable and spacious. A very comfortable kitchen allowed us to comfortably prepare our meals every day.
We had an unforgettable stay at Casa Ezulwini over spring break and cannot wait to return! This home, with it's remarkable views, was truly our home away from home for the duration of our stay.
Megan, Octavio, Giezi, and the crew from Nica Retreats made our stay seamless with everything from directions to and from the airport, a birthday horseback ride on the beach for 8 people on my daughter's 10th birthday, an authentic Nicaraguan cook-in meal, complete with the local catch of the day, dessert, and cleanup. Whenever we needed something, the staff was quick to reply and help out. The daily cleaning service was a bonus! I highly recommend hiring their cook at least once and taking advantage of Nica Retreat's guided trips or services.
The house itself has plenty of room for a big family, air-conditioned bedrooms, and HOT water and a dishwasher (two amenities that are rather uncommon in NIca). You are a quick walk from Aqua Wellness resort where you can enjoy their protected beach, great restaurant, spa, and yoga classes. My husband had a quick drive to surf everyday and many more breaks are accessible via boat (all of which Nica Retreats can arrange for you).
I cannot praise the Nica Retreats staff enough for making our trip wonderful!
The only drawback (if there even even was one and why I didn't give 5 stars) was that the deck of house and pool (the hangout area) received hot afternoon sun, often causing us to take refuge on the breezy beach. Megan told me that this changes during different times of the year and it would not deter us from renting again.
Missing NIca already!
We had a wonderful time at the house, it is absolutely lovely, made with such good taste for architecture and design. The beach is the best I have seen in Nicaragua (okay, besides Corn Island). I always thought that having a house with beachfront would be better than just watching the ocean and get frustrated of not swimming...but I experienced different during our stay. We used to take our car and drive for two minutes and have a short and nice walk down to the beach. The house is the perfect place to 'rest a little bit from the beach' and the kids sometimes even didn't want to go, they preferred staying and swimming in the pool. Bringing your own food is best, as the restaurant is a little bit overpriced. The house is equipped with everything you need. Even some Dutch novels :) And we watched a very old Willy Wonka movie. But just one movie, because who needs television with that window view??
This was a fabulous, clean, well maintained and comfortable home overlooking the bay. We very much enjoyed many things about it including the resort nearby for dining, spa and beach activities. Located approximately 2 1/2 hours from MGA.
Redonda Bay area is an unspoilt natural wonder, located around 30 miles north of the Costa Rica border. The property is close to an original native fishing village where local fisherman will either take you out to catch your own dinner, or, sell you fish from their catch. Red Snapper and Lobster are local specialties! The village has several restaurants to chose from.
The private beach is a short few minutes walk away, with gentle waves, and good snorkeling, and plenty of shady spots to relax. There is also a charming place to eat and have a drink at the beach.
Other Activities: Your house manager can provide suggestions and/or booking for tours, trips, sightseeing, and shopping. There is a great handicraft/arts market in Masaya worth going to.
Also, daily village markets in Rivas, 45 minutes away.
Golf: Nice golf is available at Iguana Resort around 30 minutes away.
