Drive through our beautiful woods to our secluded rustic cabin on an eastern back bay of Lake Ontario. Located just outside of historic Sackets Harbor New York.

This has been our casual family 'camp' for over 30 years. It has 300' of waterfront with a 15' dock. Bring your medium to small size boat, or we have a canoe and kayak. You can row out to the surrounding islands to swim.

We love to bird watch here. Many Blue Herons, ducks and sometimes a pair of bald eagles are nesting on the property. We have a pair of white swans that come back very year. Kids will love to fish off the dock. If you have a boat, it is a great place to fish.

There are 3 bikes available to use as well.

Enjoy the village of Sackets Harbor The War of 1812 was fought here and there are many historical buildings to wander by in town. There are also many top quality restaurants in the village and a wonderful brewery. The kids can go to Old Macdonalds Farm where they can pet and feed animals. Golf courses are close by. We love it there

  • 4 of 5

A friend of ours discovered this camp in 2009 and we have been enjoying it for our annual Columbus Day girls weekend ever since. Obviously, we love it there and hope to return for years to come. Very fun and relaxing weekend for all. Now that I know that there are kayaks, a canoe and bikes, I hope to also share this camp with my children and grandchildren. The owner has always be very responsive.

Great cottage!

  • 4 of 5

Very quiet location with plenty of room. Comfortable king bed in the master bedroom which has a sliding door leading to a screened in porch and a full bathroom. Three other bedrooms and two additional twin beds that overlook the scenery. It was very hot all week with temps in the high 80's and heat index in the 90's, but the ceiling fans and the constant breeze through cottage kept it comfortable. There is a canoe and a kayak to take out to the sand bar for a swim (bring your lunch)! Be sure to make use of the gas grill on the large deck overlooking the Bay! I had friends over for a cookout and they wanted to come back in the Fall...maybe it will happen! Owner is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

A Great, Quiet and Comfortable Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place to stay. I rented this cottage twice (two separate 7+ day stays in Aug & Sep 2015) while working in Jefferson County and am glad that I did. With a great view of the water and wonderful sunrises, the cottage is in a quiet location, it was clean and comfortable; everything that I needed. When staying for more than a few days, a place such as this is 1,000 times better than staying in any hotel (no matter how many stars).

The owners was polite, courteous and timely with communications; great people. The next time that I am in the area, I will be seeking to rent this cottage again.

Location, location, location!

  • 5 of 5

Like they say in real estate, it's all about the location.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, this is the place for you!  We packed up our kayaks, motorcycles, and hammocks and headed up to Sackets Harbor.  This place, right on the lake, was ideal for all of the above.

It is an older home, but if you want a newly renovated home on the lake, you will pay much more.  The place has great ventilation with sliding doors, screened in porch, and many windows.    We were only a party of two, so we did not use the upstairs, but you could easily sleep eight in this place.  Water pressure was low in the showers, but not problematic.  The owner is very accessible if you run into any problems.

All in all, it was a little slice of heaven.  The best was eating dinner on the screened-in porch over looking the lake and being FAR removed from neighbors, traffic, and noise.

Perfect, Serene and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Booking was very simple, and the communication from the owners was prompt and friendly. You can tell how much they love their house and love sharing it with others. After driving off the highway for what seemed to be several miles, you turn into a little forrest. About a mile further you see the cottage on the left. It's set back from the road and has a clearing in the front that overlooks Lake Ontario - it was beautiful. We had to take in the scenery of the lake before even going inside! The house was clean and neat - comfortable furniture, but not too fancy - just how we like it. There were 6 of us and we were able to divide the bedrooms up easily. Some are downstairs and some are upstairs. Both areas have adjacent bathrooms. The kitchen, while not brand new, was clean and there were lots of dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc for us to use. We learned that Watertown was about a 15 minute drive and there were plenty of places to buy food and supplies right on the edge of town. Nearer, in Sackets Harbor, was a smaller mom-n-pops IGA that had plenty of food and supplies as well. We made a few trips to both places when we needed to stock up. We grilled outside a lot, too. The grill was ready for us when we arrived (gas, clean, etc). The beds were clean and comfortable. It was easy to sleep as it's SO quiet - almost too quiet for us city-dwellers! The bathrooms were fine/simple (and good hot water, too!). We relaxed both indoors and out, even taking the canoe and bikes out a few times. At night we ventured into Sackets Harbor and ate at a few of the restaurants and went to the SH Brewery almost every night. Friendly locals and great beer. I will definitely come back next year! Great for couples, groups of friends, and families alike. So glad to have found this gem!

Peaceful and Quite - Needs a lot of TLC

  • 1 of 5

First 3 hours were spent cleaning - cobwebsand spider webs everywhere inside and out. Couldn't go anywhere in the house without running into them - dirty floors as well. Toilets leaked so we had to put towels down to sop up the water. Showers were clogged with hair and grime. Once we cleaned up the house and the surrounding area it was very pleasant layout - ample and comfortable sleeping space - 4 bedrooms and single beds in the loft. Nice view as well.

Water is a huge problem - Sulfer water that was very strong in oder made showering unpleasant - plus it tarnished jewelry and turned my wifes hair a bit Orange. Dishes and glasses needed to be washed as they carried an odor as well. Some of the pots and pans were severely rusted. Screens in screened in patio and house had large holes - one upstairs bedroom had so many bugs coming in the screen the window had to be closed - not so nice when its 85 degrees and no A/C.

Canoe and Kayak were awesome and much enjoyed - also had fishing poles and bikes which we didnt use but were available - fire place was very nice and came in handy on the one cool night we had.

All in all - this home has great potential but needs a lot of TLC includign replacing rotting wood around the house and hitting up the paint brush in a few places. It is a shame - wouldnt take much and this would be getting 5 stars.

Owner's Response: It sounds like our housekeeper messed up. I am sorry if it wasn't up to your expectations. It doesn't sound like it was up to ours either! This has never happened before. We have had only good reviews and responses to date. Please know that I have spoken to this person and it won't happen again.
