Nine acre horse farm overlooking Cape Cod Bay is occupied by owner, her three horses, two standard poodles, a terrier, pgymy goats and chickens...! Rental is studio apartment ideal for two. Property is surrounded by gardens, rolling hills, woods, great walking paths, and short walk down sand/shell driveway to swimming at Ryder Beach. House is 'living art' as was the subject of one of Edward Hopper's paintings entitled 'Ryder's House'.
My husband, our small dog, and I stayed for the week. The description on this page is right on. Harriet's farm is really peaceful. We felt right at home in a very welcoming environment. Harriet was very personable (as were her visitors) and was able to provide us with lots of good recommendations for restaurants, beaches, and shortcuts. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Ryder Beach is a quick walk down the road. It was nice to walk down there and be able to head back to the studio to make lunch, grab some drinks and go back to the beach. Truro is such a perfect spot with Wellfleet on one side and Provincetown on the other. Great access to the National Seashore beaches. Plenty of walking, biking, swimming or just sitting at the farm relaxing, reading a book, and observing nature.
My wife and I stayed at Ryder Beach Farm July of 2014. Really enjoyed the view from the top of the hill, and morning coffee with the dogs. The horses, goats, and chickens made for a truly memorable, relaxing place to stay if you love animals. The house itself is historic, and a pleasure to stay in. Newly renovated bathroom was a nice touch. Great location between Wellfleet and Provincetown, with a relaxing bay-side beach a few minute walk from the house. Harriet is a great host. Hope to visit again soon.
This is one of the most positive experiences I've ever had staying in Truro. The cottage and surrounding landscape are just beautiful. The dirt road you see in the photos leads right over a sand dune, and to the beach. It is also an animal-lover's dream, with horses, goats, friendly dogs, cats, chickens.... and the property still smells sweet! The cottage interior is tastefully decorated; the bathroom is high-end. Just gorgeous, with flower gardens all over. The owner is so nice. I plan to return as often as I can! Thank you!
I loved my stay at Harriet's farm. Harriet is a wonderful host, the animals added a warm touch, the views and spaciousness was extraordinary and the fact that a beautiful beach is a five minute walk is amazing.
We had a lovely, relaxed extended weekend at Harriet's farm. The dogs met us as we took our morning coffee on the bench atop the hill - with a commanding view of the beach area - steps from our cottage. In the afternoon, Shot - one of the 3 horses on the farm - would follow us around as we walked the property. The eggs from the chickens were amazing. The goats were adorable. The cottage was spotless with a well-appointed kitchenette, a comfortable bed and beautiful new bathroom - Looking forward to visiting again soon.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Ryder Beach Farm studio in April for a much-needed solo getaway. It was an absolutely perfect place to stay for a restful retreat during the Cape off season! Harriet was a generous, warm, and welcoming host, and also very easygoing and respectful of her guest's space. The studio is very comfortable and perfectly appointed with everything you could need, and just a short 5 minute walk to the beach with beautiful views over the dunes. The location is excellent as well, right in between Wellfleet (10 minute drive) and Provincetown and the National Seashore (15-20 minutes), but quiet and off the beaten path--a perfect refuge to return to after a day exploring. I loved the animals as well--friendly dogs, cats, and goats, and the sounds of chickens and horses in the yard filtering through to the house were a welcome treat. My only unhappy moment was saying goodbye! I look forward to returning soon.
Located within the National Seashore - short walk to Ryder Beach - Cape Cod Bay.
