A beautiful backdrop to celebrate a 3rd & 30 something birthday. Thank you thank you!
We went to Pt. Reyes for the weekend to celebrate my husband's 75th birthday with all five of our kids, their partners, and in three cases, their kids. Four couples and two kids stayed at The Drake, and there was plenty of room for us all. The fourth "bedroom," a fold-out sofa bed in a little area just inside the front door has its own bath but lacks privacy as there is no separation from the entry hall. The kids slept on a futon in an alcove off the living room, also lacking a door. The other three bedrooms are on the top floor (of the three floors of the house, not including the two stories or so of outside steps up to the front door.) and are traditional with a shared bath for two of them and the beautiful master bedroom, with gorgeous, soothing views from picture windows, having its own lovely master bath with shower and "soaking tub." My husband and I took the master, of course, and I loved staying in it. The light was unforgettable.
All day Saturday at Kehoe Beach and dinner that night in the reserved room at The Station House. Everyone came back to The Drake after dinner for cake and speeches and there was plenty of room for all 21 of us around the table and outskirts. Plenty of chairs for all (some folding ones stored in a corner at the end of the table). Kids watched TV in the cubby off the living room or played the large selection of board games on the comfy sofas and chairs in the living room.
A deli with good sandwiches, burritos, homemade pot pies, pulled pork, etc., is right across the street, and several times we brought food back to the house and fixed it up in the lovely, well-appointed kitchen. The house is one up from the corner of the main drag, Sir Frances Drake, so could not be more convenient to everything. It's located halfway between Inverness and Pt. Reyes Station.
The stairs were indeed an issue, as others have commented, and as my husband is blind and has Parkinson's, we probably will never be able to stay there again, but it was perfect for our needs in this moment, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to stay there. Go if you can!
We had a great stay. It felt like a tree house. The deli/market across the street was super convenient. Perfect family reunion.
Absolutely loved staying at The Drake. The location was perfect for our family reunion with its multi-level layout, 5 beautiful decks, quality furnishings and linens, and an amazingly well-supplied kitchen. Loved the high ceilings and expansive windows bringing in the morning light with fantastic views. Having the garage for parking was a bonus and the convenient deli market across the street was very helpful. I highly recommend this comfortable luxurious home in a quiet scenic location to everyone. Many thanks to the owners for sharing it so graciously. Wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return again soon.
Truly spectacular home, incredible views, great location. Fantastic facilities, directions from the owners were perfect, really a wonderful place and top level experience. Thanks for renting to us!
This house was perfect for our group of three adult couples and could easily have accommodated two more. I appreciated the previous reviews that mentioned the stairs and brought two smaller ice chests rather than one large one ... ditto with suitcases. We are all in our 60's and the stairs really were fine. Views from all rooms were wonderful! We hiked three different trails in the park, all within a 30 min. drive. Buses were also nearby & frequent. I especially appreciated the owner's flexibility with my changing plans and addition of reservation dates. We will return.
We could not have asked for better place to stay than The Drake for our week at Point Reyes. The house is beautiful, the views stunning, and Kim could not have been more accommodating. It was the perfect base for our vacation! Thank you Kim - we loved our week at The Drake.
