Good, Secluded Property Near Montreal (But poor WIFI)

  • 3 of 5

We're a family of six and we have lots of experience with homeaway properties (we've rented many properties over the years).

Pros: Huge house and property. It is very secluded and private so you can really relax without having anyone to bother you. The location is about an hour from Montreal and three hours from Quebec City. We were able to do day trips to both. There's a shopping center about 20min away, but the town center is only a mile away and has a gas station, small grocery, and a couple of restaurants. Pool was great and we spent a lot of time, there. House is big with lots of outdoor space (balconies and deck). We also enjoyed the fire pit on several nights. Kin was very quick to respond to texts and was easily reachable when we called.

Cons: The Wifi is very poor; we like to do movie nights (we rely on streaming services) but were not able to watch the movies we wanted for that reason. The Wifi is not good for streaming. The pool heater also took about 3 days to get the water warm so the water was very cold for the first couple of days of our stay. The washer didn't work for the first couple of days until Kin alerted us that it only works with cold water and on the normal setting. The kitchen is on the second floor (but it is very well stocked). The Master bedroom does not have a usable closet (it was locked).

Overall, we enjoyed our stay on this property.

Owner's Response: We are glad to hear that our visiters like the unique beauty of our property. The wifi services in the pocket of this region is not as good as in the city due to poor wiring infrastructures. No fibre glass or digital lines available from company like Bell. Only one small ISP company provides wireless signals from a mountain nearby. The bandwidth is sufficient for regular use but not for HD video usages. And the situation already explained to the visiter during the stay. We equipped a heat pump for our heated outdoor pool. It is over sized model for 80,000 liter plus pool and it is more than enough for our 60,0000 liter pool. Pool temperature is around F76 to F78 during the day without heater and can be easily reached F82+(That is the reading shown on the heater after the visitors left). We found that the heater was setting at F103. That is over the capability of the heater to heat an outdoor pool with 8 feet on the deep side to that temperature, even for our over capacity heater. Washer is working fine and Never had issues. We found the hot water was accidentally turned off this time by someone. Big 8-drawer chest in master bedroom should be a good storage for most guests.

Very satisfied with my stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came to Canada for a quick trip and decided to book this resort last minute just because we almost never saw a beautiful place like this one back at home.

It was such a nice experience. Kin was always available to answer our questions. The place is very easy to find and not to mention, the house is cozy and the outside view is breathtaking.

If I'll come back to Canada anytime soon, I'll definitely book again Kin.

Beautiful Eastern Townships location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 - two generations - enjoyed a relaxing week at this peaceful and large Frelighsburg property. The house was very clean with excellent beds and bedding. Everyone enjoyed swimming in the pool and walking to the pond and our youngest family member had fun catching frogs. The adults enjoyed relaxing on any of several balconies and chatting or reading in the quiet surroundings. The local grocery store kept us well stocked and there are several pretty towns in the area to explore. Recommended!

wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for the wonderful location and lovely setting. Our family love privacy, comfort and quite. This is exactly the place for us. We enjoy smelling the pure fresh air, listening to the birds singing in the morning and evening. We like to take a walk in the private trail in the forest or walk up to the mountain, kids like to bike in the garden and play in the pool. I like to sit at front deck with my morning coffee and watch the birds in the garden and sunlight on Pinnacle Mountain. It is so relaxed. My husband like BBQ for dinner, it is easy to get grocery in the village and there is Farmer’s Market at Saturday morning with local product. We bought a lot of fresh vegetable and few bottle of honey. We never see that small carrot with leaves and tested different kind of honey. We also enjoy the local wine, there is more then 10 wine manufactory around, we enjoyed free wine and cheese tasting in the vineyards and bought some back… It is a wonderful vacation and we will go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you Linda for your comments and I'm very happy to know you and your family enjoyed your vacation in our cottage. Our cottage distinguishes itself from other places by its beautiful landscape, private swimming pool, indoor Jacuzzi, pond and its little island, vast wooden area and huge beautiful lawn in the front, north and around the pond area. The village of Frelighsburg is named as one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec. Along route 237 towards east by the Canada and US boarder, tourists and cyclists can touring around the foot of Mont Pinnacle and enjoy the most magnificent sightseeing. At the meantime, it is the wine region of Quebec; Brome-Missisquois’s Wine Route brings together 18 vineyards and the home of famous Apple Ice Wine maker … In mid May, hills covered by flowers blooming in thousands of apple trees. In autumn, hills change their color to golden and red … Frelighsburg shows its beauty all year around. There are many places for visitors to discover… Thank you again to have your vacation in our cottage and welcome back when you and your family have time in the future. Kin

Art, Nature and Heritage.

From Frelighsburg official web site: 'Recognized as one of “The Most Beautiful Villages in Québec”, Frelighsburg is a classic Loyalist settlement that blends historic charm with a vibrant and active community that includes many artists. Nestled in a rich apple-growing valley on the Pike River and at the foot of Pinnacle, Frelighsburg is home to a well-preserved architectural heritage in a superb natural setting.

Originally occupied by native Abenakis, Frelighsburg was settled in the late 1790s by American Loyalists, including Abram Freligh a physician of German origin who moved from New York State. The mill built by his son in 1839, along with several other historic 19th century buildings, are considered historic monuments.

Enjoy the charm of the historic village, visit local artists, taste renowned locally-produced specialty food products while savouring the spectacular views and abundance of nature that makes Frelighsburg shine in any season.'
