You will be hard-pressed to find a cabin with a better location or host. Right on the Laurel River, secluded & private, close to Hot Springs. We return every year.
This chalet and property on the Laurel River is absolutely phenomenal for a restful, secluded break. The woods and river are truly quiet and peaceful. There's only foot traffic along the river during the daytime. The evenings are dark - free of light pollution, and the chorus of the tree frogs and cicadas, etc. at night is the only sound over the rushing of the river below. The home, itself, is the perfect balance of modern convenience and rustic character. We spent our days hiking the trail while hubby fished the river. It was lovely in the early spring so we didn't avail ourselves of the deck, firepit or grill because of the chilly weather, but this is as close to a perfect retreat as one can get - fully equipped for a great time in a sylvan setting! Hot Springs is a quaint town just a few minutes up the road on the Appalachian Trail, with eclectic dining and shopping. I can't say enough about this property and location - it is truly a hidden gem for folks that want some quality alone time with family/friends.
If you want secluded, woodsy, beautiful, homey, and relaxing, this is your place! I've been coming to the Laurel River to hike and swim for over 10 years, but this is the first time I've been able to stay out there, and it was dream come true. The owners obviously love the property, and it's filled with personal touches from personal art (very good art) on the walls to little decorative touches everywhere. The upstairs bathroom is awesome. Our party of 6 adults and 1 active baby/toddler were very comfortable. The porch is amazing. Really nothing wasn't perfect. We were talking about going back for a week next year by the first morning. Would love to be there in winter too, use the fire pit and explore the river in quieter times. As it was thought, we tubed and splashed and had a wonderful time. Thanks!
We took a chance on this property since it had no prior reviews.....and boy am I glad we did! It's just as described, very secluded and hidden in the woods, basically built into the side of a mountain overlooking the river. We opened the windows at night and nature delivered us the best nites of sleep we've all had in awhile. Loved the nature trail that ran a couple of miles alongside the river. Owner was very helpful with any questions.......would highly recommend!
