Casa la Kasbah is located in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a quaint village in the state of Nayarit and just 20 minutes to the north of the airport in Puerto Vallarta.

Visit the local market for your produce and fresh seafood, stroll through the town to take in the scents and watch the locals as they tend to their daily tasks.

This single-level Moroccan-style home offers the perfect environment for snowbirds looking for an alternate vacation style and enjoy a true piece of paradise. It is located in a typical neighborhood just 1 block from the new Marina La Cruz where endless activities await.

Casa la Kasbah is spacious and tastefully decorated with a focus on an indoor-outdoor lifestyle. All of the living areas open onto a 6,000-square-feet lush grassy lawn with terraces, a large free-form multi-level swimming pool and a natural stone waterfall. The patio off the kitchen has a beautiful Cantera fountain and a large Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.

Kitchen has everything you'll need! appliances, dishes, bake ware, linens.

Beyond the kitchen, you will also find a washer and dryer area as well as your own pantry.

The town of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle boasts everything from funky spots where you can enjoy all types of music to a number of fabulous world-class restaurants. Punta de Mita with the Four Seasons resort and world class golf course are just 10 minutes away by car and Sayulita, the well known surfing village is just a 15 minute drive. About Rick

La Cruz has been our second home for many years and we love spending weekends here when we do not have guests. We spend hours in the pool or the stone waterfall at night looking at the stars, or just take a steamy hot jacuzzi after a whole day at the beach.

We love animals and adore all of our cats. This is a pet friendly home if you want to bring your little companions.

Rick purchased this house in 2006

Why Rick chose Nayarit

La Cruz is still considered a small Mexican village and it oozes charm and culture. Casa La Kasbah is situated just one block to the marina and its boardwalk, 3 minutes walk to the beach and yacht club, a 15 minute drive to Sayulita and Punta Mita, 25 minutes to the Vallarta airport and a 30-minute drive to downtown Puerto Vallarta.

What makes this house unique

The location is ideal, this quaint fishing village is tranquil yet interesting and strolling the cobblestone streets, buying fresh seafood from the fishermen as well as local produce will give you a taste of life in the slow lane.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time ! The house and the location have been fantastic. Thank you for being so accomodating and helpful everytime we needed something. that made a big difference in our trip. We loved everything, and especially the swimming pool, the waterfall and the jacuzzi. We spent most of our days basking in the sun and walking along the marina. Great location as well, and thanks for recommending all the restaurants. see you next year !!

Needs a lot of work

We booked Casa Kasbah for five months, based on the online pics, we won't be doing that again.

The house is on a dirt road, that has been taken over by the summer rains, and it is now, basically a dirty, dusty river bed. (Not the owner's fault, of course)

The good:

Outstanding pool, large and deep, albeit very cold water. The gardens and back yard are very beautiful. Beautiful tile floors throughout

Good wifi signal, some English stations on TV

Good ceiling fans in all rooms

The not so good: The City turns off the water randomly from 10 to around 3...so no water during those hours...again, not the owner's fault, but very inconvenient.

The house is NOT a Villa, rather a house with a strange floor-plan and a tiny kitchen,

The bad: The furniture looks like it came from a backyard sale, vinyl couch/chair, and....beanbag chairs...how 70s! Kitchen is equipped with chipped plastic glasses, chipped mismatched plates, again...thrift shop stuff.

The toilet or tub leaks in the master bathroom, forming a puddle you get to walk through every night. Tub drains very slowly...hand held shower, very clumsy and cheap

Guest bathroom, rusted faucet, needs a new shower head brown water comes out of the shower, initially....then clears up.

The vintage flatscreen TV is, for some reason, in the guest bedroom. The beds are hard even by Mexico standards.

The only A/C unit is in the Master Bedroom, but the owner feels it necessary to charge 8 dollars USD a day, if you want it on. Doesn't matter how little it is on...8 bucks a day.

If not, your other option is to open the window, which is on the road.

This house in in a Mexican neighborhood, which comes with lots of noise, chickens, dogs, horses...very authentic!

We left after two months, won't be returning.

Owner's Response: Yes all plumbing issues have been fixed and we deeply apologize for all the inconveniences. We are always very responsive and get everything taken care of immediately. There have been some major repairs in the adjacent street's water pipes and the city closed one of the two water networks, which generated excessive water pressure, plumbing issues and water shortage all over the neighborhood. These repairs were completed by the city around March 20 and all is back to normal now. We have also hired a new housekeeper as the former couldn’t properly address some issues and provide quality service to our guests. Our recent guests have been very happy with the new team. The pool water is not cold; it went down to 24 degrees Celsius (76 Fahrenheit) during the coldest month of the year (December). In January water temperature goes up again to 77/78 Fahrenheit and up to 85 in May. We have some nice Mexican vintage dishes that are chipped but they are decoration items and displayed on shelves; they are not for guests to use. It is actually quite easy to distinguish that they are not for meals. The dishware is impeccable and new. All the other comments are difficult to respond because they are inaccurate. Travelers who don’t like chickens, dogs and horses should not vacation south of the border. Our villa is in a Mexican neighborhood simply because it is in … Mexico. Unpaved and cobble stone roads are part of the local lifestyle. Travelers in Mexico find different experiences and much lower prices too. What some call noise is considered here as music and street life: shrimp, ceviche, fruits or water vendors, but also music bands and horses, share the road in full harmony. We have welcome and made friends with many wonderful people for more than 10 years thanks to VRBO.com and we take a lot of pride in providing extraordinary customer service and exceed our guests’ expectations. We enjoy welcoming travelers from all over the world and share our love for the local culture and heritage. This environment is friendly, natural, unique, warm and welcoming. We again sincerely regret the inconveniences caused to our guests in this occasion, and will continue listening and improving thanks to your feedback and reviews. Thank you.

Relaxing Oasis in the Midst of LaCruz

  • 5 of 5

Spent a quick week at Casa Kasbah, the property was everything it appeared to be in the VRBO add. The yard is a relaxing Oasis, and the only sounds you hear are the beautiful birds chirping away.

The House was exceptional, and no issue's or concerns. The owners were very timely in responding to any queries we had, and we were very surprised at how much there is going on in LaCruz, all within 5-10 minute walks from the House.

If you want to experience LaCruz, we would highly recommend this property, whether you want to relax in quiet solitude in your own Yard, or take advantage of the LaCruz night life, it's all there.

Kasabah La Cruz November 16-19th

  • 4 of 5

We were staying here for a few days before we headed out on the rest of our vacation. Overall it was a very nice experience. The house is family friendly rustic but could use some updates. It is well maintained. We were traveling as a family. My wife(she is from Guanajuato, Moreleon), step daughter, son in law and grandson. The location is excellent. You can walk to everywhere in la Cruz in no more than 10 minutes(we have our Chicago city walk). We were able to get around without a vehicle. The property was clean and was what it looked like in the pictures. I have to admit when you first pull up, which is also a plus, the outside does not give away what is behind the locked doors. Once you open the doors it is a very nice house. The living room, kitchen and den are a very large open area. There are 2 bedrooms, One master with a Jacuzzi and one normal bedroom. I have to admit, the beds are a little small, I am 6'2". The plumbing is also a little slow and needs to be upgraded. The kitchen has an excellent charm. Old school and well maintained. The grounds are beautiful. The first night we were there it was a little warm if you weren't in the room in with the air conditioning unit. I definitely think both bedrooms need an AC and oscillating fans. Only the master has one. They have ceiling fans but the nights we were there no breeze was noticeable. The shower in the master bedroom was hand held. It was inconvenient but not a deal breaker. Our first day we wanted to go to Sauyilta, one of our favorite spots. I t was easy to walk down the street and grab a cab for the short ride. It was a great day. That night, when we returned, we enjoyed the beautiful yard and pool area while listening to music and relaxing. The second day we decided to spend all day at the house. There is a beautiful pool in the backyard. The poolguy came that day to clean the pool and we used it all day. We set up the grill, went to the fish market at the marina for shrimp, hit the carniceria for pollo and grabbed fresh totrillas. We grilled all day and played in the pool. Our whole family loved it. It was one of the best vacation days we have had as a family and we travel all over the world together. La Cruz is a beautiful town and we would definitely stay here again. We loved it so much we wanted to purchase the house and complete some of the upgrades. All in all i would definitely rent this property again. The owners were awesome and accommodating. Gracias Regis and Nicole.

All good, great vacation

  • 5 of 5

I really liked the proximity to Destiladeras, Sayulita and Punta Mita. Getting on a bus or a taxi is safe, easy and very affordable; the beach and the road to Punta Mita & Puerto Vallarta are 3 minutes’ walking distance, this was very convenient for me. The house is beautiful, very well maintained, the neighborhood is nice and green, the village is charming, people are nice and helpful and your prices are good. I will come back next year. Thank you

Gorgeous villa in la cruz

  • 5 of 5

Great stay, we loved the comfortable living room, the bedroom that overlooks the pool, the garden with birds and fruit trees, the waterfall, outdoor breakfasts and the walks to the marina. We wish we had stayed more than a week. Great weather, no rain, perfect.
