Amazing Getaway - Just What We Needed

  • 5 of 5

This is a long overdue review, but really I can not say enough about what a great Fall getaway this was for our little group from Florida! It was the ideal space for us to escape the kids and relax. We took advantage of the great location and explored Elk Falls, a local apple orchard, Sugar Mountain area Oktoberfest, Roan Mountain National Park and just driving and walking around the local area. Loved spending mornings and evenings on the back porch. The cottage itself was homey, clean and comfortable. The owner was in the area during our visit, so an extra bonus being able to connect with him. Thank you so much, Roger, for sharing your home and love of the area with us. We hope to return again!

Owner's Response: This family really did explore the area and take advantage of everything the mountains had to offer. I loved hosting them! Appreciative, engaging, and fun! I put a LOT of effort in keeping the home pristine and like one's own home, and when a family sees/appreciates this and treats the home/property with the same respect, it is a win-win. This is why so many of my guests are return guests.

Relaxing get away!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a very nice, clean, comfortable and spacious place to stay over the thanksgiving holiday! Our family of 4 had more than enough space and all of our creature comforts. The house is super clean and well equipped. The owner was very friendly and even brought by brownies! Will definitely recommend this rental to our friends and family.

This cottage is in a beautiful setting of a mountain & small Creek behind it & a waterfall just across the street.

Quiet, peaceful & immaculate accommodations. The owner is amazing. We've rented before, did this past week & will definitely rent again.

Owner's Response: The Cottage from pictures simply do not do it justice. When people arrive, they're stunned at how attractive it is, and the setting with so much acreage and landscaped so nicely. This family continues to visit and enjoy and I am grateful for them.

Exquisitely furnished country home and perfect getaway.

  • 5 of 5

There is good reason this home/property consistently gets a top 5 star ranking - from the fully (like in your own home) furnished kitchen to the old Persian carpets, to the down pillows and high quality bedding, to the marvelous deck over the babbling brook creek where you can enjoy coffee/breakfast, lunch, or wine/dinner ......... GREAT in every way. Sitting on four acres in the country with a large beautiful meadow lined with rail fence, it is quiet, peaceful, and completely relaxing. The owners were extremely helpful in suggesting places to go, places to eat, or things to do and when we arrived we found a delightful plate of the best homemade brownies we've ever eaten! We'll be back for sure!

Owner's Response: This couple enjoys the Cottage several times a year solely to do trout fishing! And he's quite a good fly fisherman! Always fun to have them.

Exactly as described. Clean, bright, functional with the added bonus of surprise treats!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet. Our host was most generous with the supply of delightful pastry surprises left on the doorstep.

Owner's Response: This couple spent 11 nights at the Cottage and enjoyed every day! In fact, they lost track of time and when they didn't check out today as was scheduled, I didn't know what had happened. The cleaning lady showed up and called me to say, "they're to gone; they're still here." I called them (they were in Asheville) to find out what had happened and they sheepfaced apologized that they thought they were staying another night and had lost track of time! Fortunately, I moved my next couple coming in to another home, rescheduled the cleaning lady, and told the couple to enjoy one more night - NEVER end a wonderful vacation on a sour note!

Clean, comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

This home is located in the mountains and was the perfect stay for us. We were able to take easy day trips from this home and see all the beautiful views in the area. The home was clean and had a really comfy king bed!! It had everything needed and the owners were very kind. They not only provided tips on what to see and where to eat but also dropped off home baked goods for our visit :)

It was a wonderful place to stay and tour the blue ridge mountains.

Owner's Response: Some guests come and never leave the house and property because the environment is so peaceful and relaxing and reading a book while sitting the deck over the creek and watching/hearing the steam is enough of a vacation in and of itself. However, others are rarely at home, and use it as a sleeping base only. Such was the case with this fun couple. One day they did the Boone/blowing Rock/Grandfather Mountain/Linville trip, coming back on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Next day they did the day trip to Asheville to see Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn, etc.
