Owner's Response: These guests came from Miami to escape the hurricane (Irma). After they arrived, they called to ask if their cousin and three children (under 5) could join them. I couldn't say no, although having three children under five and four adults in the home was really overloading the space and amenities of the home, causing things to be left less than perfect. But sometimes one has to be flexible to help those in need! I am grateful their home and belongings in Miami were not damaged in any way! And I introduced more Miamians to the NC mountains!

Breath of Fresh Air

  • 5 of 5

Cozy cottage and absolute beautiful property! Just wish our stay was longer. The chocolate chip cookies were a added bonus and delicious. Roger and his brother were both wonderful responding and answering any questions you may have in a timely manner. Cottage was well stocked and clean. The perfect place if you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to enjoy lots of mountain attractions. Our family would highly recommend Grand Father Mountain, The Orchard at Altapass and Roan Mountain to name a few. Our children enjoyed Gem Mountain Gemstone Mine and ziplining :) Can't wait to return!

Owner's Response: Sadly, I did not get to meet this wonderful family, because I was also on vacation. However, the lady who cares for the home said she had never seen a family leave the home cleaner and more spic-and-span! When someone treats a rental home as they do their own, nothing makes me happier. I just returned from a VBRO rental in Sea Island, Georgia and I left it just as I walked in. Interesting though, on this home I rented (and paid $700 per night), the bed linens and towels were nothing like mine here at the Cottage; the kitchen was so poorly supplied compared to mine here; there was no shampoo or toiletries; not even soap to wash dishes or extra paper towels. I really do appreciate now that mine is like you walk into someone's home who just stepped away. EVERYTHING you need is there, especially if you are a cook. So happy they enjoyed Gem Mining, Grandfather Mountain, and the Orchard. Jarret's Orchrd in Roan Mountain is open now, and they have wonderful apples. From the Cottage, it is only an hour to Boone/Blowing Rock (Grandfather Mountain), an hour to Asheville (to see Biltmore House) and only 35 minutes from Johnson City for movies, theaters, shopping, etc.

Amazing Home and Property - Beautifully Furnished

  • 5 of 5

One of, if not the BEST rental homes we've ever experienced. Charming white, roomy 3 bedroom Cottage situated on 4 acres of private land with. brook behind house (and deck over it - perfect for enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner). Kids LOVED to play in the stream. Home is unbelievably clean and furnished as if it were your own home - linens great. Kitchen fully furnished such that one could cook anything! It does not have the look, feel, smell of a rental home - rather, like one's own perfect appointed mountain Cottage. We'll absolutely, positively come again.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The house and the area were absolutely beautiful. My family and I had a great time. My little ones thought the waterfall in the backyard was the best thing in the world. It was nice to have all the comforts of home provided for us. I'm looking forward to our next trip and more blueberry muffins. Thank you Roger and Tony!

Even better than it looks in the pictures

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how wonderful this cottage is. If you book this home, read the check-in instructions, you have to call the Guest Contact before you come so someone can meet you with the key. This house has everything you need and is not decorated cheaply like most small cottages. Quality furniture, decorated nicely, everything you need in the kitchen, extra toiletries in the bathroom, comfy pillow top mattresses, clean, awesome deck, beautiful view... I really just can't say enough. It was way nicer than we expected. The Guest Caontact was so nice. After he unlocked the door for us, he walked through the house turning on all the lights, showing us around and making sure we had everything that we needed. The next morning, he called us up just to check if everything was fine. Thank you Mr. Jenkins!
