Roger Jenkins purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Roger Jenkins chose Fork Mountain-Little Rock Creek
Having grown up as a child nearby, when this property came up for sale, I quickly bought it. Because of my work, I have been privileged to travel all over the world, but have found no spot as beautiful as these mountains and streams here in Buladean.
What makes this Cottage unique

What an amazing way to spend a few days recharging
It was a girlfriends weekend for us. I have stayed at Mr. Jenkins' other property the Red Roof Farm House but this was my first stay at the cottage. It was beautiful, peaceful and so very relaxing! The creek and sitting area outside were amazing although it snowed so our time there was limited. The cottage is deceiving from the pics and outside when you pull up as far as size. It is so big and comfy and cozy inside. Anything you could possibly need and more is waiting for you. We loved Grandfather Mountain and the little shops in downtown Spruce Pine and oh the Brownies and Goodies provided by this amazing host were the icing on the cake of a great, great weekend! We will be back!
How very true ....... that the outside of the home (in terms of projected size) is so so disconnected to the spacious cozy, three bedroom inside. Without exception, EVERY guest who has stayed here in the last five years has made two observations:
1) The inside is so much larger and more comfortable than we could ever have expected., and
2) The furnishings are a huge upside surprise, right down to how detailed the kitchen is furnished.
I'm so thrilled guests love the Cottage, and in the spring, summer, and fall all the guests enjoy having breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the deck sitting on top of the creek .... or a glass of wine in the evening, or cup of coffee in morning.
Amazing Getaway - Just What We Needed
This is a long overdue review, but really I can not say enough about what a great Fall getaway this was for our little group from Florida! It was the ideal space for us to escape the kids and relax. We took advantage of the great location and explored Elk Falls, a local apple orchard, Sugar Mountain area Oktoberfest, Roan Mountain National Park and just driving and walking around the local area. Loved spending mornings and evenings on the back porch. The cottage itself was homey, clean and comfortable. The owner was in the area during our visit, so an extra bonus being able to connect with him. Thank you so much, Roger, for sharing your home and love of the area with us. We hope to return again!
This family really did explore the area and take advantage of everything the mountains had to offer. I loved hosting them! Appreciative, engaging, and fun!
I put a LOT of effort in keeping the home pristine and like one's own home, and when a family sees/appreciates this and treats the home/property with the same respect, it is a win-win. This is why so many of my guests are return guests.
Relaxing get away!
This house was a very nice, clean, comfortable and spacious place to stay over the thanksgiving holiday! Our family of 4 had more than enough space and all of our creature comforts. The house is super clean and well equipped. The owner was very friendly and even brought by brownies! Will definitely recommend this rental to our friends and family.
A nicer family one wouldn't meet! They had a wonderful time and weather was shirt-sleve warm and sunny. Delighted to have them back anytime.
Excellent mountain getaway property!!
This cottage is in a beautiful setting of a mountain & small Creek behind it & a waterfall just across the street.
Quiet, peaceful & immaculate accommodations. The owner is amazing. We've rented before, did this past week & will definitely rent again.
The Cottage from pictures simply do not do it justice. When people arrive, they're stunned at how attractive it is, and the setting with so much acreage and landscaped so nicely.
This family continues to visit and enjoy and I am grateful for them.
Exquisitely furnished country home and perfect getaway.
There is good reason this home/property consistently gets a top 5 star ranking - from the fully (like in your own home) furnished kitchen to the old Persian carpets, to the down pillows and high quality bedding, to the marvelous deck over the babbling brook creek where you can enjoy coffee/breakfast, lunch, or wine/dinner ......... GREAT in every way. Sitting on four acres in the country with a large beautiful meadow lined with rail fence, it is quiet, peaceful, and completely relaxing. The owners were extremely helpful in suggesting places to go, places to eat, or things to do and when we arrived we found a delightful plate of the best homemade brownies we've ever eaten! We'll be back for sure!
This couple enjoys the Cottage several times a year solely to do trout fishing! And he's quite a good fly fisherman! Always fun to have them.
Exactly as described. Clean, bright, functional with the added bonus of surprise treats!
We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet. Our host was most generous with the supply of delightful pastry surprises left on the doorstep.
This couple spent 11 nights at the Cottage and enjoyed every day! In fact, they lost track of time and when they didn't check out today as was scheduled, I didn't know what had happened. The cleaning lady showed up and called me to say, "they're to gone; they're still here." I called them (they were in Asheville) to find out what had happened and they sheepfaced apologized that they thought they were staying another night and had lost track of time! Fortunately, I moved my next couple coming in to another home, rescheduled the cleaning lady, and told the couple to enjoy one more night - NEVER end a wonderful vacation on a sour note!
