Anthony's Big House at Seneca Lake, NY

Bedrooms 7
Space 4,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Lakefront House, 7 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 17-20)

This special home was built during the depression by our grandfather K.G. Anthony. Many of the materials used in the construction were hand-picked by K.G. and his attention to detail is evident throughout the house.

The house is in excellent shape. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in dishwasher, a pilotless gas stove, a microwave, and a large refrigerator. The living room has oak hardwood floors and pine walls and ceilings which provide the perfect atmosphere for relaxing in front of the fire at the end of the day. All common areas are spacious, making our house ideal for family reunions and multi-family vacations.

The rental week extends from 4 pm Saturday to 10 am the following Saturday. Clean sheets are provided at the beginning of the week.

We hope that you and your family will enjoy this property as much as our family has over the years.

The house is conveniently located on the west side of Seneca Lake near both Geneva and Watkins Glen on 10 acres of land (unlimited parking) in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country. The location has ample privacy due to ravines on either side and approximately 350 feet of lake frontage.

Great Getaway

  • 3 of 5

We have rented the Anthony House for several years, so obviously we like it. It has been spruced up a great deal in the last few years, and could still use more work, but for a week vacation on a lake with our big family it is a great fit. We hope to be back again next year.

Beautiful setting and plenty of room!

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 20 people, 7 of them children. There was plenty of space and lots to do for everyone! The kids and dogs enjoyed swimming and jumping off the dock. The fire pit is amazing and we closed every night there! Thank you Anthony's for sharing your house with our group! We will definitely like to come back!

Perfect place for extended family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family has stayed at Anthony's Big House for the past three years and consider it our go to spot for a perfect summer week. With 7 bedrooms, large living room, porch and dining room with large table, the house itself is big enough that everyone (from a days-old infant, rambunctious kids, parents and grandparents) could find a spot for some quiet time or mingle around the table for games during those moments not spent outside. The kitchen is fully equipped with just about anything you need whether you are fixing a pancake breakfast, mixing up a batch of cookies or firing up the large grill just outside the kitchen door for dinner. The large, flat front yard facing the lake is perfect for running games while tired adults can watch from the screened porch or chairs in the shade. The new fire pit is great for s'mores or a quiet evening fire (though with nine kids we did not have that luxury this year!) There are a couple dozen steps down to the lake which some of us took slowly but appreciated for keeping us fit. The steps also provided a natural boundary and our number one lake rule - no kids down the steps until an adult was there. The lake front is where we spent most of our time whether swimming, jumping from the dock, or on floats or non-motorized boats provided or rented nearby. The shoreline and lake bottom are made of mostly smooth shale stones which make hunting for the perfect skipping stone or rock for painting a favorite activity, though water shoes are recommended. There are several wineries nearby and farm stands for fresh produce, with more extensive shopping available in nearby villages and towns. For outings a little farther away, Corning, Rochester and Syracuse offer great museums and sports events within 90 minutes. Anthony's Big House offers the perfect blend of modern convenience while maintaining the charm of a traditional lake house and the owners are very responsive and wonderful to work with. My only hesitation in writing this review is fear that others might discover this perfect gem!

Family Reunion - Fun For All

  • 4 of 5

Our family stayed here over the 4th of July and we loved the Big House and the property, especially the outdoor fire pit with large Adirondack chairs for after-dinner conversation and relaxation. The large dining room table was perfect for our large group and we loved grilling just about every dinner. Many thanks to Brian and Craig for your assistance before and during our stay.

It was an awesome week.

  • 4 of 5

The house was perfect for 3 families. We was plenty of room and we were never on top of each other. The only things that I would complain about is the air conditioning - the kitchen and dining room were VERY hot. Not sure if the air was working in that end of the house or if there really was any air. We got lucky as the week went on, it got a little cooler - but had it been any warmer, I'm afraid the house could have been a little miserable.

The other things is that when it rained - the steps going down to the water got very slippery, we had 3 people fall down the steps. Luckily no one was hurt bad though. Just some bumps and bruises.

Great week overall though!!

Awesome lake house

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 7 couples getting together to celebrate some of us turning 50 this year. This was the perfect house!!! Casual but updated, plenty of room to spread out, great fire pit overlooking the lake, small boats, large living and dining rooms, screened in porch. Very convenient location to hiking, wineries, restaurants, etc. Would definitely recommend this for family/friend get togethers! Owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with.
