Way to go Hughthir! We were wondering when you would decide that you should let the world know about this gem of yours. Folks, you can be assured that my wife Kathie and I are looking over our schedule for this summer ... and the fall ... to see when we can get the time away to enjoy this opportunity. I can tell you this from our many visits to the property over the past few years: This home and setting are magnificent, and extremely well priced for what you will be getting for your money. From the moment you pull off the road onto the two-track back into the woods you start to feel the serenity of nature at its best. Don't pass this one up folks. Take it from a city boy who is stuck in the hussle and bussle of the work-world WAY too much: This is it! And I can promise that once you do rent Hughthir's place you will ABSOLUTELY want to come back again and again. And that's just the way it really is!

It was excellent and quite!

  • 4 of 5

Ok the only reason this did not get 5 stars is simple - the bed was EXTRA EXTRA hard and that was not stated - They did have a few feather toppers but it did not help and all the furniture was also on the VERY firm side (BUT) I am a big guy and this was designed for owners tiny mom so..

Other than this point 5 star land owner he meet us started a fire in the wood stove/fire place, he left us alone but was available if we had needed him. His dog was a nice visitor in the morning (she liked bacon) - The location is EXTREMELY wonderfully secluded. nice short drive to the entire area.... The cabin was very nicely stocked and had a wonderful collection of LP to enjoy and we did! Tons of books and tiny details that made it a very nice trip.

The listing was 100% accurate - (did not mention bed hardness good question to ask?)

Property was 100% clean

Owner - 100% excellent

Would I recommend renting it? - YES - just know that the bed is in no way soft.

You have to hit the Farmers Daughters Chocolate just south of empire (organic) - Glen Arbor Leeland Coffee roasters - The market in empire has awesome home made bacon - the fun places to go just goes on and on....

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Hughthir's cabin is perfect in very way. You never have to leave the property. It is so beautiful and comfortable. The wood stove is awesome. We sat and read and hiked during our stay. The area is beautiful, especially Sleeping Bear Dunes which is only a 10 minute drive from the property. Our stay was relaxing and rejuvenating. The sauna is an added perk. We definitely recommend it. We will be back. Thank you Hughthir.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

What a pleasant surprise! The house was big and inviting with everything you'd need for a relaxing stay. Hughthir was a wonderful host as was Felecia and the cat. Close to attractions and towns and we took many day trips north and south up the coast of Lake Michigan exploring each small town and loving the quaint shops and restaurants. The Dinghy was a favorite of ours to eat at as well as some of the other restaurants along the way I have forgotten the names of. We were able to cook our meals if we wanted at the house, which we did for the supper time. We were lucky enough to be there at the Blood Moon eclipse and got a great view of it! Our cell phones did not work well there but the internet worked great and we watched Netflix movies/shows at night as well as listened to records and the radio.

I would definitely check this place out if you are looking to get away from it all and breathe in the peace and quiet.

Completely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough good things about this property. Hughthir is a wonderful host - completely unobtrusive, but popping up whenever we needed him. The property is so special -- beautiful, serene, with hummingbirds and other unexpected treats all over. Felicia (dog) was delightful. The house is lovely and the books kept us pleasantly occupied all weekend. Thank you Hughthir!
