About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 15)

This home was once owned by the Sahara Tahoe Hotel and Casino (now the Horizon Casino) and was used to provide private accommodations for it's star performers. The eccentric decor of the bathrooms was retained for nostalgia and includes hand painted imported sinks, elaborate fixtures, mirrored walls, extensive tile and hand painted murals. The home is located on a cul-de-sac in a quiet and secure area of the exclusive Skyland community.

Enjoy breath-taking views of Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay in the distance from our deep water pier, or the expansive outdoor deck. The pier is a rare amenity that is 220 feet long and 15 feet wide at the pier head and includes a catwalk and swim ladders - your private island in the sun. The deck is over 1600 SF and includes a hot tub, firepit, dining table and B-B-Q.

The home is over 5500 SF. The entry, bedrooms and dry sauna are on the upper level where it is quiet and relaxing. The kitchen & great room, family room, and billiard room are on the mid level. The oversized kitchen is fully equipped with stand alone refrigerator, separate freezer with ice-maker and Wolfe gourmet stove for those that like to cook. The kitchenette, card room and lounge are on the lower level with an expansive outdoor deck and living area. The interior has radiant heat floors under porcelain tile, and there is radiant heat under the driveway for ease of access in the winter. There is parking in the driveway for 4-5 vehicles; the garage is reserved for owner.

This is a family home where you will find a foosball table, billiards, board games, cards, dice, checkers and chess. There is a bookshelf full of books and a DVD/VCR library for you to enjoy. Because of limited parking and respect for our neighbors, this home is not suitable for group functions including parties or weddings which are expressly prohibited in the rental agreement.

About Jenny Sweetland

My husband, Mark, spent many treasured childhood summers at Lake Tahoe. His grandparents, Ernest and Nellie, purchased lakefront property in Lake Tahoe in 1922 which was a legacy that lasted three generations. The Lake is a sanctuary for Mark - a place to re-charge from his hurried life and reacquaint himself with nature. When the family property was sold in 2007, Mark knew he wanted our children to experience Lake Tahoe in the same way so we acquired this one-of-a-kind home in Zephyr Cove.

Jenny Sweetland purchased this house in 2007

Why Jenny Sweetland chose Lake Tahoe Area

The east shore provides some of the most scenic views of Lake Tahoe. It has warm afternoons and spectacular sunsets. It is close to South Shore casinos offering world class entertainment and food. The home is situated 50 feet from the trailhead to National forest lands where there is hiking and private beaches to discover. In the summer you can hike (less than 1 mile) through the forest to the Zephyr Cove pier where water sports are available to include boating, catamarans, canoes, windsurfing, water skiing, jet skiing, beach volleyball and the famous Dixie paddle boat cruise. There is also indoor and beach dining at Zephyr Cove. In the winter it is a short drive to Heavenly Valley Ski Resort that hosts snow boarding, snow skiing, zip lining (Heavenly Flyer) and a children's play area (Adventure Peak). The Kahle Community Center has a gym, indoor courts, indoor track and outdoor sports field.

What makes this house unique

This home offers a truly unforgettable Lake Tahoe experience. The home and deck extend out to the edge of the water offering a rare outdoor experience. The gas barbeque, dining table, hot tub and firepit provide everything you need for a relaxing day at the Lake without ever leaving home. The Skyland community beach is a wonderful place for young children to play or for adults to share the company of friends and neighbors.

Excellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

I have to say this is the most beautiful home I've ever stayed at! I was definitely impressed with the heated floors, remodeled rooms and bathrooms, even the beds and bedsheets were really comfortable. Great location, only 8-10 minute drive from the casinos. Incredible view of the lake. We used the hot tub during a storm and the water kept us warm. I would recommend this house for both winter and summer stay, given both the hot tub and grill on the patio option!

WONDERFUL!

  • 5 of 5

wow! what a property. We had a family reunion here with 12 people and it was just perfect. The dock and the spa and the views - everybody was just in love. There was a bit of a cleaning snafu when we arrived, but the owner quickly made it right, and overall the experience was stellar.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family get together and this home had the perfect layout and amount of space to accommodate us. It rained the entire time, but it didn't matter! The views are absolutely incredible and we had plenty to do with the pool table, foosball, games, hot tub, etc. We're already trying to come up with our next date!

P.S. The gates on the stairs were a real plus since we had two toddlers in our group!

Great location, beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Tahoe for awhile and as our extended family has been growing, it's always a challenge finding a property right on the lake that is updated, has ample number of rooms and is dog friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay and felt like the property was perfect.

Best of the best

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying in Tahoe for 20 years...and finally found the best place on the lake! Home of the Stars is right on the lake with wonderful big boulders and green clear water. The large broad deck is great for hanging around, enjoying the views and the calm environment. And there's a hot tub on the deck to boot. Steps off the deck is a private pier...which goes far out into the lake. We set up some beach chairs on the end of the pier and really enjoyed the moment. And yes, we jumped off the end of the pier as well! There are also great trails close to the house, where we hiked along the water and found some secluded beaches for swimming and hanging. Inside the house is great as well. Lots of big windows so the lake is always within view. Big tables for eating and a classy pool table for lots of fun. The place is very clean, big ceilings in the living area. It was awesome!
