We are located in a quaint, functioning, Victorian town just 1 block from the historic downtown with shopping, dining, and museums. The rental comprises the 2nd and 3rd floors of the historic 1875 Mercantile Building. We are able to offer part of the space for a reduced rate if your party is less than 10! See our rates below for these different options. The first floor is home to the Rocky Mountain Miniatures retail store and the Dusty Rose Tea Room, a Victorian style tea room offering over 30 different teas and home made delicacies for lunch or tea.
Our guests are many times surprised by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the facility. We have spent a lot of time and effort to come up with the perfect blend of the modern and the old. The updated kitchen and bathrooms have slanted floors that creak and irregularly shaped doors. The furniture, a mixture of antiques and the new, had to be carefully measured to make it up the steep, narrow, grooved from use, stairs. The high ceilings and large rooms lend themselves to a feeling of being able to spread out.
The layout of the rooms offer a wonderful amount of privacy. Not only is there a table in the dining room (96' long - perfect for games, puzzles, and family gatherings), but another in the kitchen (for those intimate early morning or late night chats.) The bedroom with the king size memory foam bed is located in the northwest corner of the second floor (next to the main bathroom.) The other bedroom on this floor is located in the northeast corner and has a double bed, a day bed, and a single trundle bed. The third bedroom is located on the third floor, has dorners (for that Victorian feel), a queen bed with pillow-top mattress, and an attached bathroom.
We are a smoke free and pet free facility.
Children and families really enjoy staying here. The space if full of nooks and crannies, and we have not over-decorated so there are few things that parents need to worry about getting broken. We offer a high chair and a booster chair for our younger guests, as well as puzzles, games, and a few toys geared for their ages. And of course, with a dollhouse shop on the first floor, there is a dollhouse!
You will wake up to the scent of fresh scones, meat pies, lemon curd, and tea! Visit our website for the Dusty Rose Tea Room.
Come and see for yourselves all this wonderful space has to offer!

I have resided in Georgetown since 1999, previously having had the opportunity to travel throughout the Americas and Spain. Chris joined me in 2003 and while managing the Georgetown Mercantile/Rocky Mountain Miniatures store in Georgetown, as well as the Historic St. James Vacation Rental, have been able to continue our travels - to include Asia and the Middle East, as well as Europe and the western hemisphere. We appreciate the tranquility and the small town life in Georgetown. We especially enjoy sharing this with our guests who come to stay with us at the Vacation Rental.
Jeannette Peterson purchased this apartment in 2004
The location lends itself perfectly to the vacationing couple, family, or larger group. The town is a magnet for both the relaxed vacationer, the family get-away, and the avid outdoor person. We wanted to provide a base camp, so to speak, for the group, allowing each to do what they enjoy.
The facility is quiet and centrally located in an historic district of a small town. Nearby are year-round fishing opportunities, skiing, snowboarding, ATVs, river rafting, hiking, horseback riding, shopping, museums, restaurants, and a general small town feel. In the rental we provide books, puzzles, games, and local interest information, as well as the local papers and general information about things to do in the area.
Thank you for visiting our web-site and our guest book. My husband and I recently purchased this property and have tried to make it as comfortable as possible for your stay. The previous owners lived in this apartment for 27 years and raised two children. This tells you that the space is comfortable and inviting; large, while at the same time cozy.
Children are always thrilled with the way it "goes on and on." They are also fascinated with the idea of living over a store - "just like Little House on the Prarie." Adults are reminded of "my grandmother's house on the farm." With the full-size updated kitchen, washer and dryer, and two updated bathrooms, you will settle in for a relaxed, old-time holiday with all the modern conveniences.
We have met family and stayed here once or twice a year for at least 11 years. The sweet, friendly care of the owners, the delightful antiques and old pictures, and the space to visit make the apartment perfect. The meat pies and scones with lemon curd and clotted cream are remembered all year. We love being only a block from downtown Georgetown with great shopping, food, events. There are lots of mountain events nearby. Thanks, Jeanette and Chris
This was a great location! It was very easy to find, comfortable and the owner was a pleasure. The apartment was very spacious and we had everything we needed. Downtown Georgetown was just a short walk away (one block) for sightseeing and shopping. The best part about his location is The Dusty Rose Tea Room downstairs. We made reservations for High Tea for lunch and everything was delicious! This was a great find and we plan to book this in the future.
This is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are so friendly and gracious. The accommodations were very comfortable and we had more than enough room. It was nice having our own kitchen and living room for added comfort. The tea room downstairs was so nice, everything they served was delicious! This was the perfect getaway for friends!
We stayed for 4 nights over Labor Day Weekend as our friends were getting married at the Hammill House! The apartment is right in the middle of town within walking distance to all of the restaurants and night life. Jeannette was a great host.
Bonus - She had a box of building blocks for my young son to play with!
We love historic buildings so this was the perfect place to stay -- full of charm and character and wonderfully comfortable and relaxing. Jeannette, the owner, and those working with her were extremely helpful and kind. (She has two businesses downstairs -- Rocky Mountain Miniatures, so much fun, and the Dusty Rose Tea Room, a unique dining experience. Everything we ate was divine.) Of course we will return for another stay! We did not seem to be on a "stop over" on the way to some other destination, but felt at home among great people who were truly concerned about making our stay memorable. And, if for some reason we are unable to only pass through Georgetown, which will break our hearts, we will certainly stop to take the opportunity of trying more of the delicious creations in the elegant Tea Room.
We had to ask to extend our stay it was so lovely! Full kitchen and laundry onsite for our four kiddos is a beautiful thing!
Clean and comfortable, a home to relax in and enjoy.
Scones from her #1 rated tea room awaited us upon our arrival. She checked on us, but was unobtrusive.
Beds slept well, tv adequate, game/book/toy area a HUGE hit with the kiddos!
We are planning many returns. Georgetown is a perfect base for seeing the area. Price is fantastic for what you get.
Stairs are steep and are only way into rental. No prob for us, just be aware!!!
Everything in Georgetown is in walking distance from here. Even a grocery that will take you back in time.
We did not rent top bedroom, she let us look, however, and it is perfect for taking grandparents or the like! Secluded but not too much. What views from the entire place. Like a dream to wake up with the Rockies towering at you!
A mere 45 minutes from Denver, you will feel like you are in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, and have stepped back 100 years into a Victorian village.
