I am excited to tell you about a truly 'one of a kind' location in Door County with a 'one of a kind' home! On the 'Quiet Side' of Door County there is a 'Dream Home' that is literally on the borderline of the Whitefish Dunes State Park. The views are nothing short of amazing. As you look out the large picture windows and skylights you will see beautiful white birch trees, an assortment of evergreen trees, huge sand dunes and a variety of wildlife including birds and whitetail deer.
Imagine.. a beautiful 4000 Square Foot Custom Built Home - with lots and lots of big windows and skylights - that is built on the borderline of a State Park. Our home is nicely nestled in the Woods on top a huge Sand Dune that OVERLOOKS beautiful Lake Michigan. Our home is not on the water - you will need to take a 3-4 minute walk down our driveway then a short venture on a path through the woods to get our beautiful Sand Beach. The sand on the beach is so clean that it 'squeaks' when you walk on it. You will absolutely love our beach! Relax and build sand castles with your kids.
House Details: When you are not out hiking trails or walking the beach relax in a vacation home that is ideal for large groups of family members and friends. Use 3 bedrooms, 1-2 'open concept' bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and sleeping for 12-17 adults and children.
While you relax in the great room by the Fireplace your kids or friends can socialize in the rec room with Ping Pong, Card Table, and Wireless Internet. Enjoy a family meal in our sun room with seating for up to 10 and 3 more at the snack bar.
Relax with a book in the cozy den area. Have a nice dinner using our charcoal grill off our back deck with incredible views of the woods and huge sand dunes. Visit the Crow’s Nest to get away from it all and take in the awesome views of Lake Michigan & the Park!

My name is Fred - the owner and rental manager. I will answer any questions you may have now and I will also be your 'goto' person during your stay. I spend every Summer of my life in this area and I still can't get enough. Welcome to our 'Slice of Heaven' in Door County.

This property has been in our family since my dad purchased it during Word War II. Our location is the ABSOLUTE BEST bordering the Whitefish Dunes State Park with a private Sand Beah.

In spite of the area having just received 30” of snow (it is not how we imagined our time away) we made the best of it by cooking some meals in the well supplied kitchen and finding our way to the beach through deep snow. We thoroughly enjoyed our walks north along the snow covered dunes of Whitefish SP. The erosion from the recent storm left a 4-6 ft wall of sand. Very interesting. The next day we enjoyed beautiful ice formations at Cave Point Park, and were able to walk quite far into the state park along the bluffs. On recommendation we had dinner one evening at Glidden Lodge’s restaurant just down the road. Wednesday night was German night( too much meat). We opted for Thur and enjoyed the tuna and walleye. Met 2 of the owner’s family members who live across the street. Nice people. I hope they all realize how blessed they are to have such a beautiful place to live. Our last day we experienced the bay filled with ice chunks floating into shore as the lake thawed with temps in the 50s. Thank you for a wonderful getaway. Would love to return to see this gem in summer. The views from the house are so wonderful. We chose to bring our own bedding and towels and do required clean up, which was just fine for us. If there would have been a snow shovel I would have cleared off the decks. The skylight in the master bedroom is an added extra to watch the night sky before falling asleep. This place is beyond a fantastic place to stay. Thank you so much for sharing it!

New Years celebration completely spoiled...
After spending a wonderful time celebrating New Years with our family and friends we never expected to run into problems after we left that beautiful house. The owners decided NOT to refund fully our damage deposit, claiming no damages, yet stating we completely trashed the place. They claimed, on the top of the 3 hours we paid for cleaning, it took them another 4 hours to clean after us. After we tried to get our deposit back through VRBO, the owner filed a rebuttal letter where he groundlessly accused us in lying about number of renters, not declaring a dog and also presenting made up quotes, trying to manipulate the numbers in his favor.
We are all grown, responsible and well educated adults here, working for the US Government, by the way. People like that do not simply trash places like a bunch of teenagers. Both of my friends that were with us were in shock reading a rebuttal letter by the owner. These accusations are ridiculous! We have used services like VRBO many times and NEVER had any complains and surely never had any claims that we had "trashed" the place. It is truly insulting to hear such things. The owner's initial rental quote clearly showed a pet fee that we paid, which clearly indicated that we had declared a dog. There were no bed sheets for the owner to wash after us, no towels, because we had to bring our own (as per rental agreement), we vacuumed the place clean, all the dishes and counter tops were washed and cleaned, the stove top was spotless and looked even better than before, all the garbage was taken out. The last two hours of being there we spent cleaning the place up...yet, they say, it took 7 hours for the cleaning crew to clean the house after us. It was practically impossible to get a hold of the owner for the first 3 days via a phone. The only number he provided to communicate apparently "went dead for a couple of days"...as he later mentioned in his text. That really showed how much he cared.
The worst part about all of this is such pettiness, starting from making up stories about a trashed house, made up quote numbers, trying to get a few extra dollars from us to ridiculously watered down hand soap in the bathrooms of this beautiful home. And on the top of all that I have to sit here and spend my precious time, writing all this. So sad, the beautiful memories of a New Years celebration were COMPLETELY SPOILED. What kind of a review do you think is it worth? I would not want to deal with that owner ever again.
The vast majority of groups that have rented our home via VRBO over the past 8 years have treated our home and our "house rules" with the utmost respect. Dozens of those groups have taken the time to provide thoughtful, HONEST reviews. This group did neither. The claims made in this review are so inaccurate that I will not even dignify them with a direct response.
If you scroll down to one of the first years I rented our home via HomeAway (2011) you will see a negative review about my performance as rental manager that was actually factual. I was NOT a good rental manager 7 years ago BUT I was determined to learn from the experience and the comments made in the negative review.
Since that date I have worked very hard to earn the status of HOMEAWAY PREMIERE PARTNER. I ALWAYS communicate with guests promptly and consistently throughout the entire rental process. If there is ever an issue or even just a small question I typically reply within a couple minutes. (my wife says my cell phone is glued to my hand) I am always 100% up front and honest. I always treat our guests fairly.
UNFORTUNATELY some groups do not take the time to read our rental agreement which details the cleaning and linen responsibilities for groups that do NOT use our cleaning or linen service. When a group makes a huge mess and then makes little to no attempt to clean up after themselves I deduct additional cleaning charges from the security deposit - just as it clearly states in our rental agreement. After I deducted additional charges from this group they filed a claim to VRBO to get their money back. After I provided VRBO with our email trail, rental agreement and a true accounting of the events that took place they ruled in my favor. This ruling finally occurred on April 1, 2018. That is why a group that stayed at our home 3 months ago is finally posting this negative review now.
If you take the time to read the reviews posted by the 2 groups that stayed at our home after this group and the previous groups you will notice a common theme: People love the location, they love our home and some have even taken the time to point out how responsive, flexible and helpful I am as a rental manager.
Seven years ago I was likely one of the worst rental managers. Now - all modesty aside - I feel I am one of the best, most responsive rental managers in Door County. You may rest assured that if you select our home for your Door County vacation you will love it all!

Great house, great location, and a blizzard won’t ruin it
Did an over night retreat with a group of 8 regional managers. Great location with plenty of room and great views. Came in the night of 15+ inch of snow, owner communicated well with snow removal and very flexible. Highly recommend for business or pleasure.

The local area offers the trails and the beach of the Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point Park. The best beach in all of Door County is a 2-3 minute walk down our Dune. Fine Dining is just 1.5 miles away at Glidden Lodge. A Rustic Restaurant - Bar is great for Burgers and Beers and is just 1 mile away. All the quaint shops and restaurants with 'Fish Boils' in Door County are just 15 minutes away.

Additional information about rental rates
Credit Card Fee: There is a 2.9% Credit Card fee for all rentals paid by credit card. The 2.9 % credit card fee will be deducted from your security deposit after your stay. Cancellation Policy: If you wish to cancel for any reason your down payment will be returned as soon as the time frame cancelled has been re-rented. If the time period does not re-rent you will be provided with a credit that can be used during the off season on a future rental within the following year.
