Why Rhonda Blair chose British Columbia

This property for us is both a primary and secondary home depending on the time of year. We love this property because we can go from the doorstep of our home in Calgary to the doorstep of this property within less than 4 hours by plane. It is a perfect location where we have all of the luxurious amenities and charm of a west coast beach home, without it being over populated in a tourist area. The popular tourist destinations are a short drive away. For us, it is an idilic location for rest and relaxation; a place to create family memories; a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've had a wonderful time; thanks for allowing us to visit your home.

Bought fish at the french street marina... i've shopped for fish all over the

globe... have found a new fav. We watched an otter play and dine for an hour

last night on the beach here... kayaked in the bay today to visit seals and sea

lions.

We've tried to treat this home as if it were ours (if i had a spare million and

the commute was a wee bit friendlier maybe...)... lived mostly in the kitchen

(as a food guy two thumbs up... really well appointed!!!).

A wonderful end to our time on Vancouver Island... Kate Wendy and I thank

you for the chance to stay here.

Views, wildlife and peace

  • 5 of 5

The property was all we expected and more. The two of us were kind of lost in the house which is better suited for a large family or couples sharing. It is up to date in function and fashion. Most impressive are the ideal location, the views from the back deck, and the presence of deer, Eagles, otters and multiple species of birds. The manager was a pleasure to work with and we will go back in the future.

Beautiful property in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

Reef Beach House was the perfect location for our family vacation. The property was large and spacious with beautiful views of the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped and worked wonderfully for us as we were travelling with 5 young children who were better suited to eating at "home" vs. restaurants.

Rhonda does a great job of taking care of everything you need to know before and during the stay. A couple minor hiccups were handled promptly and we left with no complaints.

The location of this property is stellar. 1/2 hour from the ferry in Nanaimo, 10-15 minutes from Rathtrevor and Parksville beaches, a short drive to Coombs and the most enjoyably a short walk to Beachcomber Regional Park where the kids had a blast exploring tide pools, beach and swimming in the warm water as the tide rolled in each evening. Make sure to take in the sunset at Beachcomber while you are here! Also take a 7 minute drive to Moorecroft Regional Park, excellent beachcombing and swimming locations here as well.

Overall we were very happy with this property and the hostess. I would highly recommend!

Perfect place for R&R

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic ocean view from a gorgeous log house style accommodation. All the comforts someone could wish and so connected to nature. We spent hours mesmerized by sea, land, sky and wildlife.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The view, the air, the everything (most definitely including the fresh seafood) were perfect and exactly what we needed! The house is very much like a home, spacious and airy but also cozy and welcoming. We were extremely comfortable...could have stayed much longer!

Thank you so much for introducing us to your corner of heaven on earth! Not to mention Goats on the Roof!

Great location - a few simple improvements would have made it excellent

  • 3 of 5

The house is in an excellent location with great views from the deck. We saw eagles, seals, and deer with fawns right outside the window. The deck has a new BBQ, and is partially covered, which is nice when there is the odd shower. A table seats five, and there are two folding camp chairs. Heating works well, and there is plenty of hot water.

The kitchen is large, well-equipped, and there are four stools around the large island. The living room seats at most four on two love seats. The dining room table is big enough to seat ten; there are six chairs. We did not use the sauna because the adjacent shower leaked and was not usable. The master bath has a huge shower with two shower heads (one is a rain shower), and horizontal water jets (we did not see the advertised "steam" option).

The two upstairs bedrooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable, and there is lots of storage. The window coverings are OK for privacy but don't keep the light out, so we woke up with the sunrise. The downstairs bedroom has a comfortable bed and an ensuite bath. There are no window coverings in the downstairs bedroom. The basement has a DVD player and a television, but there is no TV service (satellite, cable, or terrestrial).

The experience would have been nicer if there was more (and more comfortable) seating in the living room (a couple of armchairs) and on the deck (a few sun loungers), and if the bedrooms had better window coverings that kept them reasonably dark. If a TV is advertised, there should at least be a basic terrestrial digital service - all it needs to make it work with the existing rabbit-ears is a $100 box.

Great getaway spot!

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful spot, lovely house, all was in order and well equipped. Directions were clear, pre administration by Rhonda was done well. Enjoyed our stay very much.

On the negative side; beds were overly hard, basement was cold and cleaning fee was high.

Would still recommend the property!
