Why Rhonda Blair chose British Columbia

This property for us is both a primary and secondary home depending on the time of year. We love this property because we can go from the doorstep of our home in Calgary to the doorstep of this property within less than 4 hours by plane. It is a perfect location where we have all of the luxurious amenities and charm of a west coast beach home, without it being over populated in a tourist area. The popular tourist destinations are a short drive away. For us, it is an idilic location for rest and relaxation; a place to create family memories; a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We've had a wonderful time; thanks for allowing us to visit your home.

Bought fish at the french street marina... i've shopped for fish all over the

globe... have found a new fav. We watched an otter play and dine for an hour

last night on the beach here... kayaked in the bay today to visit seals and sea

We've tried to treat this home as if it were ours (if i had a spare million and

the commute was a wee bit friendlier maybe...)... lived mostly in the kitchen

(as a food guy two thumbs up... really well appointed!!!).

A wonderful end to our time on Vancouver Island... Kate Wendy and I thank

you for the chance to stay here.

Where will you ever find anything better on Vancouver Island? Nowhere! What a house! What a view! The view alone is worth every penny! Beyond the view, the house and all of the parts (beds, kitchen, washer/dryer/grill/etc) is remarkably wonderful. We all slept well on the comfortable mattresses, the house was spotless, the kitchen equipment enabled us to cook a number of delicious meals which we ate on the deck that has an unbeatable and indescribably beautiful view! You are foolish if you opt to rent any other home on this island. This one rocks!

Would love to return

Thank-you so much for the use of your lovely retreat in Canmore. I only wish we could have stayed much longer. We barely touched the trails, hikes and wonderful lakes in the area. Your place was warm and welcoming after being out in the Rockies. Loved the art work and decorating. The park pass was a real plus. Hope to come back soon!

Beautiful Location

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful location , very quiet and private. Beautiful view off of the wide deck over looking the Strait of Georgia. Great to wake up to with a coffee in the mornings, and relax watching the sun go down in the evenings. House is a little dark but has cozy feel with plenty of room for a family or even 2. It is an older but renovated property. Access to the beach from the yard is a bit tricky as it is a rocky slope and slippery. A minor issue with some cleaning that the cleaners had missed but Rhonda is excellent to communicate with and responds quickly rectifying any concerns. Recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing and quiet getaway.

Great family home with super owners!

  • 5 of 5

We booked the Reef Beach house in Nanoose Bay for the first week of August for a family holiday. I originally contacted Rhonda about the booking back in March. She was wonderful to work with and made the booking process very easy.

The house itself was perfect for our family. My parents were with us and as both of them are in their 90's, I had some concerns about them navigating the property. I should not have worried! My Dad uses a walker and was able to get around the house with no problems. The house is well laid out with everything anyone would ever need while on holiday. The kitchen is beautiful and has everything you could ever need. As with most family gatherings, everyone seemed to always gather in the kitchen. There was plenty of room there for all of us.

For us, the best part of the house was the view! The deck was huge and comfortable. It was great to sit out there in the morning with my coffee and just watch the seals or the eagles. While we were there, we had one day of rain. But, we were still able to be outside under the covered portion of the deck or watch the water from the huge windows in the living room.

We did not go down to the beach, which was rocky, because the steps to the beach were a bit trick and several of us have artificial hips. My husband and I slept in the basement bedroom which was very comfortable and had a huge bathtub in the attached bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms and two bathrooms were great for my Mum and Dad and sister. My sister particularly loved the walk in shower!

Rhonda was wonderful to work with for this rental. If I had any questions or concerns, all I had to do was send her an email. She was great about getting back to me quickly either by email or phone.

All in all, a wonderful place to stay. I would recommend this house to any families looking for a holiday on Vancouver Island.

Views, wildlife and peace

  • 5 of 5

The property was all we expected and more. The two of us were kind of lost in the house which is better suited for a large family or couples sharing. It is up to date in function and fashion. Most impressive are the ideal location, the views from the back deck, and the presence of deer, Eagles, otters and multiple species of birds. The manager was a pleasure to work with and we will go back in the future.

Beautiful property in a beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

Reef Beach House was the perfect location for our family vacation. The property was large and spacious with beautiful views of the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped and worked wonderfully for us as we were travelling with 5 young children who were better suited to eating at "home" vs. restaurants.

Rhonda does a great job of taking care of everything you need to know before and during the stay. A couple minor hiccups were handled promptly and we left with no complaints.

The location of this property is stellar. 1/2 hour from the ferry in Nanaimo, 10-15 minutes from Rathtrevor and Parksville beaches, a short drive to Coombs and the most enjoyably a short walk to Beachcomber Regional Park where the kids had a blast exploring tide pools, beach and swimming in the warm water as the tide rolled in each evening. Make sure to take in the sunset at Beachcomber while you are here! Also take a 7 minute drive to Moorecroft Regional Park, excellent beachcombing and swimming locations here as well.

Overall we were very happy with this property and the hostess. I would highly recommend!
