i loved that place in the middle of old vallarta ! great views! when you are in the villa it is like your are flying above the roofs of Puerto Vallarta! once you are in the villa you don´t want to live it!!!
walking distance you´ll find everything !
you live the ambiance of old Vallarta in a modern very artistic house ! coul be like leaving almost in a tree house !!!!!
This is the 2nd time I've stayed at Villa La Piedra, and I'm blown away again. I've been to PV so many times now, and I keep coming back to this house (when available) because I know exactly what I'm getting--a VERY clean, modern, beautiful home, with breathtaking views of the ocean and the bay. I would be hard pressed to find any other place in PV with the square footage, the cleanliness, the views, and the location--that this house has. If you want to be downtown and within walking distance of literally everything (5 min to Malecon), you should consider this house--it's fully gated with a security system (in case that makes you feel better), 4 stories (the rooftop has an 8 person dining table, grill, sink, hot tub, covered area, and plenty of walking space. 3 spacious bedrooms/bathrooms, and a full kitchen and living room with exceptional views. Words cannot express...
I stayed at La Piedra with my girlfriend for 9 days in February 2017 and it exceeded all expectations. The house is located in the charming Old Vallarta. We walked all over town, which is very safe and could not find a nicer property. The house was very clean and all the decor was modern and elegant. The open floor plan gives a great energy and the kitchen has every amenity for cooking a good meal.
In case you don't feel like cooking, Thierry owns the best restaurant in town and treated us to a free meal! The food there compares to any 5-star rated place in NYC.
The house is equipped with stereo, TV, wifi, laundry, etc. All the things you might be used to at home, but we didn't find much need for any of that. Admiring the views from the floor-to-ceiling retractable windows occupied most of our time in La Piedra. The view from the roof offers arguably the best vantage points in all of Puerto Vallarta (except for visiting the Observation Deck).
The attention to detail in the house cannot be underscored. Everything from the carefully chosen artwork to the dimmable lighting present all through the house, its obvious the design was well thought-out. The master bedroom shower features a sliding door to a balcony that overlooks Puerto Vallarta. Imagine watching the sunset from the shower, what a sight!
The neighborhood feels safe and the property is guarded by a gated entrance accessed from the street. From there you must climb up dozens of steps past palm trees and other exotic shrubberies that conceal the house from the street.
The boardwalk (El Malecon) is the most popular point of interest in the area and is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the property. The most popular beach (Playa Los Muertos) is about a 25 minute walk.
The property seems almost too good to be true, and at first we thought it was a scam because we had to pay deposit over PayPal. But I see that as a shortcoming of HomeAway rather than the property owner. After speaking with Thierry, who was very accommodating to our needs, we were sold.
This house was enchanting and memorable in every way. Searching all of HomeAway and AirBnb, we could not find better!
The description of this property was accurate; in fact, I would say that words cannot describe how beautiful this house is--nor can the pictures do this house justice. I stayed there for 5 weeks starting with the first of February, and I hated having to leave.
The property was extremely clean, the views are ridiculous, and the open air makes this house unbeatable. I will gladly stay there again if it's available.
Thierry--the owner (and chef of Cafe Des Artistes) was extremely hospitable and responsive to my requests, as was Carolina (the assistant)--this really helps when you need something or need some recommendations--you can't beat them on service. Also, a super-sweet cleaning lady (Nicol) comes by twice a week to help with laundry, dishes, and general cleaning services at the house--this is an excellent service to have when you're at a house like this.
The rooftop, living room, and master bedroom views are jaw-dropping--you can see a huge part of the bay, down into the neighborhood, and can see the Malecon (boardwalk). The house sits on a hill almost completely on its own. Nearly every window opens up in the house, and since you're on the hill, the air flows freely through the house. On a sunny day, you cannot beat the rooftop. At night, the lighting in the house is perfect--many of the lights are on dimmers, so you can adjust down or up depending on your mood.
There is a fully-stocked kitchen with all kinds of cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, glasses, etc--if you feel like cooking, the kitchen is definitely setup for it--and there's a dishwasher to help. As well, there's a washer/dryer in the laundry room that works great--no need to take your laundry anywhere.
If you wondering about security, there's an alarm system on the house, so you can feel safe that when you're gone, your belongings are secure. There is also a huge gate at the bottom of the steps as well as a very secure door to get directly into the house. It's a bit of a walk up the steps to get to the house, but it's worth every last step--the views make it worth it.
You are about a 5-minute walk down to the Malecon--about 6 short blocks down the hill. The house is in El Centro--the real part of town. The great thing about this location is that you can walk to the north shops, south restaurants, or Malecon in just a matter of minutes.
Overall, I highly recommend this house to anyone--you get privacy, views, security, and the essence of PV all in one house.
We just returned from PV after staying at "la casa piedra" of Thierry Blouet, owner and chef of the famed Cafe des Artistes just a few blocks away.
We were looking for a larger residence for our 3 week visit for visiting family and guests, and wanted to be "in the mix" of el centro (downtown) and the Malecon. In the past we have always stayed at one of the larger hotels up and down the coast.
Fantastic views, especially from the master bedroom and the private rooftop, were the high points of everyday living. Two bedrooms are quite comfortable and the third a bit less so, as it is actually built into the rocky cliff on which the house itself sits. The kitchen was functional, though it could use a little updating, and the other amenities were great--plenty of towels, dishes, sheets, etc.
Housekeeping for 3 days a week is included and welcome when on vacation!
We enjoyed the benefits of being just 5 blocks from the Malecon, and not having to "order up" a taxi every time we wanted to go somewhere. The entrance to the house is a long stairwell up the side of the cliff, which we did not mind as we are avid fitness buffs, and included the stairway in our daily workout. The immediate neighborhood is a bit scruffy, but is also just a few blocks from 4 or 5 great restaurants, several art galleries and, or course, the Malecon.
If we were to visit again, I would ask Thierry to have his staff thoroughly check the home for quick fixes prior to our arrival. For example, we had to call for light bulbs to be changed out, a doorlock repair, an air conditioner fix, etc. Jorge, our repairman was very prompt in addressing all these issues, but we would prefer not to have to deal with these kinds of requests when on vacation.
Finally, Thierry included two fine meals with this 3 week booking at his #1 rated restaurant. That was amazing, and a nice "perk" for the booking.
Thank you Thierry, Carolina, Nico and Jorge!
Great location and amazing views. It's within walking distance to great restaurants, Malecon, and shopping, and a good place to stay if you want to get away from the touristy hustle and bustle. The views alone were well worth our stay here and just one of the many highlights of this home. Nightly fireworks from the bay made for a great ending to every night. Property was well maintained and the owner was awesome and made sure we were well taken care of during our stay. The kitchen is stocked with all utensils and cookware you would need for a long stay, but I would also recommend checking out some of the great restaurants nearby. You can also enjoy cooking/dining on the rooftop. Transportation is readily available with taxi's driving right in front or do what we did walk a few streets over to the bus stop. Good place if you're truely looking to relax. I will definitely be staying here my next visit to Puerto Vallarta. Thanks for making it a great first visit to Mexico!
