This is a GORGEOUS PROPERTY and is perfectly situated 50' off of the beautiful Sturgeon River and walking distance to Trail #7 of the infamous Rails-to-Trails mountain biking and snowmobiling trails. There’s nothing like this 4 bedroom (plus loft), 3 bathroom home in Indian River so close to everything, including:

1. 20 miles from the Gaylord golf courses, Bay Harbor Golf Club, Boyne Highlands, Little Traverse Bay Golf, Black Lake Golf Club, and Crooked Tree Golf Club

2. 25 mins. from Mackinaw City

3. 20 mins. from Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and the Odawa Casino

Inside Details: This is the perfect home for Northern Michigan enthusiasts looking to live large while on vacation Up North. Holidays, weekends, and weekly trips here will certainly be extra special with your family and friends! The home comes complete with oak hardwood flooring throughout and terra cotta tile in all the wet areas. It has custom-built cabinetry and stainless steel appliances in the chef’s kitchen and a BBQ deck and gas grill just off of the dining area. The main level also has a tidy living area with comfy seating and a 46” flat panel TV (complete with an Onkyo surround sound system) and a main-floor bedroom with a private entrance to the deck overlooking the Sturgeon River and a queen-size Tempur-Pedic mattress for extra comfort . The upstairs is perfect for a couple and at least 4 kids; two in the smaller bedroom and two in the loft overlooking the great room. The upstairs bedroom has gorgeous views of the Sturgeon River and large back yard and has vaulted ceilings.

Outside Details: Outside, between the home and the river, is a nice lawn to run around on with your dog and a beautiful stone enclosed bonfire pit with firewood and seating provided. The cabin has landscape ground lighting all around the foundation so it is well lit at night while you’re enjoying the late night bonfires at the river. On the deck overlooking the Sturgeon River is a nice picnic table for relaxing, an outdoor dinning set, and a staircase that goes down to the lawn going to the river. In the front of the home is a smaller lawn and driveway as well as another vacant lot for extra parking space for your extra vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. Also in the front is paver patio with a cedar log pergola, picnic table, and gas grill just off of the indoor dining area.

Extra Features: Our vacation cabin comes complete with two kayaks for our guests to use at no additional cost. The finished lower level has a custom-built cedar sauna! All three levels have full bathrooms, at least one bedroom with a queen-size bed, and custom-made furnishings.

About Doug Sidell

My name is Doug Sidell and I have a passion for life and for what I do! I'm a real estate broker, investor, and designer and builder of luxury cedar homes. I represent buyers purchasing waterfront and mountain property in the Southeast, mostly in North Carolina. My primary residence is in Charlotte, NC and my business is simply named after me: C. Douglas Sidell & Co. I graduated with undergraduate and MBA degrees from Michigan State University and absolutely love following the Spartans in basketball and football. Most of my free time is spent with my wife, Krista, who is a nurse practitioner at Presbyterian Hospital of Charlotte (and an alumnus of The Ohio State University), our son, Noah, and our daughter, Anna. Some of my other free time is spent fly fishing, upland bird hunting with my dog Mitch, golfing, cooking, reading, traveling, kayaking, and working on just about anything around the house.

Doug Sidell purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Doug Sidell chose Northern Michigan

I didn't buy my vacation cabin, I built it! It is a home I designed and built in 2006 on the most perfect piece of Sturgeon River property. I chose to buy the land because it is so close to everything that is fun to do in Northern Michigan and because it would enable me to build the type of home I was looking to construct. The finished product is a three-story cabin with a finished, walk-out lower level, a main floor that's set up perfectly for entertaining inside and out, an upstairs that is well-suited for kids and adults, and views of the Sturgeon River just 50' in back of the house. There is a never ending supply of fun things to do; especially for families with children. A few that are really high on my list include: kayaking, fishing, swimming, rafting, canoeing, boating, snowmobiling, biking, hiking, motorcycle riding, X-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, etc. and it's all just outside the front door of my cabin. I love it! I hope you will to.

What makes this cabin unique

Some unique benefits I enjoy while staying at our cabin on the river include, but are not limited to: peace and quiet; late-night bonfires at the river; lots of room for all my guests/family members; space for the dogs to run around; relaxing in the cedar sauna; playing some of my favorite golf courses all within a 30 minute drive; cooking/BBQing big meals; watching movies on the big screen TV; listening to the birds early in the morning while drinking coffee on the deck; catching trout right in back of the house; taking advantage of all the freedom!

Awesome Cabin, Great Location, Very Helpful Owner!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed staying at Doug's cabin! It was perfect. We really enjoyed all the fun things to do in the Indian River area. Some of us kayaked, some biked the trails (right close to the cabin), some played golf. The hot tub and sauna were super popular too; sat in both most every night. What was especially meaningful to us is how well-decorated the cabin is with very nice furnishings and all the space. Of course the bonfire pit near the river was relaxing for us, too. We all highly recommend this cabin. The owner was very good to work with as well. Plus we could bring our dogs at no additonal charge!

Sidell's cabin is perfect for winter also

  • 5 of 5

We love Sidell's cabin! Our family previously rent this cabin in the summer season. This time we had a chance enjoy winter staying in Michigan during our New Year vacation. Cabin is perfect for a big family. Very clean and nice designed home. Kitchen well stocked with pans, plates, cooking utensils etc. Well stocked with bedding, towels, blankets, pillows etc. Nubs Nob Ski Resort is 20 miles and snowmobiles renting 1 mile away. It was nice to come back to the warm and cozy house after skiing, fishing, sledding and snowmobiling. Sauna and hot tub helped to restore after winter's entertainment.

Very good customer service. Doug responded quickly to questions we had and even helped with some local knowledge to suggest things to do in the area.

We will be back! Thank you Doug!

Perfect for family vacations or group of friends!

  • 5 of 5

This place is perfect for family vacations or group of friends! Our family spent Labor Day weekend there. Excellent house decorated as hunting cabin! There was plenty of room for everyone, including family member – our beagle. The house was immaculate, and all of the amenities were just terrific: perfect fire pit, plenty of provided firewood, sauna and hot tub overlooking the river. The large porch provided a lot of fun family time, grill and access to the Sturgeon River gave us ability to kayaking. We enjoyed sunset on the Burt Lake beach which located a couple minutes to drive also.

The location is terrific: it's only couple minutes to drive to the nearest store. Close to Mackinaw City which is absolutely wonderful to touch some history, dining, visit famous fudge places, shopping, and just have fun. The ferry rides with great view of the bridge, lighthouse and visiting Mackinac Island and Huron Lake left the best memories of the horse rides, arch view and explore island's history and today’s life.

Property owner is very friendly and helpful. Doug gave us a lot of advices. We already scheduled our Winter vacation there to explore Michigan at winter time with snowmobiling, ice fishing and visit Mackinaw City around Christmas time!!!

Great vacation in Northern Michigan

  • 5 of 5

Doug

I want to thank you for renting your cabin to us for our family reunion the last week of July 2015. We had a great time and the location was perfect for the things we wanted to do during the week. Your cabin is very well planned out and comfortable. In the evenings we enjoyed having a fire in the fire pit along the Sturgeon River. Good resturants in town as well as Village Market.

Thank You again and looking forward for the future.Carol (New Smyrna Beach FL)
