Perfect for Yosemite
Great location and beautiful house. Well set up kitchen with pantry items and everything you need to make this an ideal base for exploring Yosemite.
Accommodations were very nice
Very nice cabin
My family arrived late and had a little difficulty finding the property in the dark. The homeowner was very kind and the cabin very nice. There are horseshoes to pay and 2 dogs to play with if you are missing your own dogs.
Loved our vacation rental
Had a great time and beautiful weather throughout. Cabin is centrally located to a lot of sightseeing ops yet feeling is private though other houses are within sight.
Beautiful Country Log Home
This is just a wonderful place to stay! A beautifully-crafted log house with many of the comforts of home, on a gorgeous property in the Sierra foothills. Our favorite things were sitting inside cooling off from the July heat in the comfortable AC, and then going outside later to the deck and grill area to watch wildlife as the evening cooled down. We saw a pair of rabbits every day, plenty of ground squirrels, several blue-colored birds, and even a large alligator lizard!
The beds were comfortable and it’s very quiet there, so you’ll sleep well! I appreciated the night lights in the bathrooms, as this is a country home, so it’s very dark at night with no city lights.
The kitchen is mostly well-stocked, but a few items would be helpful for cooking, such as:
1. A medium or large non-stick skillet for making scrambled eggs. The skillet there is a deep-sided one with a textured bottom that looked like eggs would stick.
2. A large bowl to serve/toss salad for a group. I could only find small bowls.
3. A large pot with a lid to boil pasta.
4. A medium-sized casserole/baking dish. There is only an extra large lasagna pan there.
5. A pair of oven mitts. There were only 2 small crocheted potholders that were a bit small for removing hot pans from the oven.
The home is about a 10-15 minute drive from downtown Mariposa, so I recommend stopping in Mariposa for groceries before you check in. Pioneer Market has everything you need and is quite reasonably-priced.
If you’re heading to Yosemite Valley, plan on close to 90 minutes driving time to get to the valley floor. We were in the car by 7 AM the day we went, and we were able to find parking in the valley. It’s hard to get up so early on vacation, but it really makes a difference in Yosemite Valley to beat the crowds.
The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is only about an hour away at the south entrance of Yosemite National Park. It’s a nice day trip to drive up there and see those magnificent trees, and then stop for lunch in Oakhurst on the way back.
We absolutely loved our 4 days & 5 nights in this beautiful, immaculate log home, and we hope to come back soon. Thank you to the owners, The Todds, for their generous hospitality!
Wonderful Stay! Relaxing, clean, and well appointed.
This property was perfect for my family of 5 to use as a home base for Yosemite! Pictures really don't do it justice! The property is peaceful and beautiful. The living space is spacious and clean. Plenty of room for all of our needs. We'd stay again in a heartbeat. No issues what so ever.
