Overview

Bucine Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description

2 Apartments, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Bath, (Sleeps 4-10)

This stylish 16th century property is perfectly situated for day trips to Florence, Arezzo and Siena. At the South-East border of the 'Chianti Classico' area, this perfect location is not only a short distance from Tuscany's most famous cities of art, but is also surrounded by countryside of outstanding beauty scattered with woods, vineyards and olive groves.

Castellino Bucine is conveniently situated in the historic centre of the village, where local amenities such as restaurants, bank, post office, shops, cafés, supermarket and a free parking area are just a five minute walk away.

Both 75 m²/ 750 square feet apartments comfortably accommodate 4 people each, 2 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room on a sofabed (although to 2 additional single beds and two baby cribs, thus max. 10 people in the whole unit) can be provided. The apartments are available, for a minimum of three nights, throughout the whole year, individually or combined. High speed internet is available in the apartments and on the terrace.

This holiday rental is full of character and offers everything a Tuscany enthusiast desires: a wonderful view, a panoramic terrace and a fantastic garden which once belonged to the Medici family.

In a peaceful setting surrounded by cypresses and pine trees, you can while away the days relaxing or sightseeing and, in the evenings, take advantage of our outside fireplace with a glass (or two!) of wine and just enjoy being 'away from it all...'

If you like to book the whole unit please check the calendar of the other apartment (first floor) first: Listing ID 729244 and make sure that both apartments are available at the same time ;-)

About Rosina-Maria Juganar

We are a German couple and went to live in Italy for two years about forteen years back. Well, we ended up staying a bit longer as we bought this beautiful property 13 years back now and rented out one of the two apartments and lived in the other. For a variety of reasons we needed to go back to Germany and now rent out both (when we are not in Bucine ourselves).

Rosina-Maria Juganar purchased this chateau / country house in 2002

Why Rosina-Maria Juganar chose Montevarchi area

Basically we wanted to stay only for a year or two on the Tuscan country side as Florence, where we worked at the time, was just too expensive (this was 2001/2). But when looking for places to rent we've seen the Castellino Bucine and just fell deeply in love with this house - In the historic center of a village, but with a huge garden - and all this on a hill top with a marvellous view - so we bought the house and just hope to be able to keep it until our old age (and then live there again).

What makes this chateau / country house unique

In the Castellino Bucine we love - staying outside on the terrace late in warm spring and summer nights and enjoying the view and the air - relaxing a whole day in the garden - visiting the beaches or surrounding Tuscany for day trips - the beautiful old stones - the fire place in the winter

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Rose,

We are planning to leave tomorrow approximately 9:00am. We have loved your apartment and will highly recommend to our friends and family back home.

I understand we can leave the keys in the mailbox. How shall we receive our security deposit before we leave?

Thank you,

Shelli

Wonderful House, Wonderful People

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Castelino Bucine for 2 weeks this spring during the Easter holiday. The place is situated in what was a deMedici home and is absolutely charming. The apartment maintains its original tuscan charm but has been completely renovated with modern amenities. All is very clean and well maintained. The house also has a large garden and terrace which we loved each night over a glass of local wine. Really well connected to Florence, I would also highly recommend exploring the village of Bucine which is traditional tuscany without the hordes of tourists. We cant recommend the place enough.

Spacious, but rather dark and sparsely furnished

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a week during a 7-week tour of Europe where we were stayin in a variety of vacational rentals. The unit was definitely spacious and had all the basic amenities, but was rather ill-lit throughout and lacked charm and comfort. Please note, also, that you have to park in the center of town and walk to the apartment, which was kind of inconvenient, and on market day you have to move your car way out to the outskirts of the village until the market is over. It also was rather noisy at night if you had the window open in the bedroom, as the train station is directly behind the house and trains go by (tooting their horns) on a regular basis! On the good side, however, it was centrally located in the region and had convenient access to a train station, making a car not an absolute necessity and the little town did have all the basics--a few small cafes, a bank, post office, etc.

Owner's Response: We took the review from the O'Briens seriously and given that a few other guests from the USA told us that they are used to more lights we installed more lamps so that we have now a well-lit allover. Regarding the quantity of furniture we and all the other guests like it as it is, because it is not crowded with so many things. Charm and comfort is a quite individual matter we think. So please have a look at our website in order to assure yourself that the Castellino Bucine is a really cosy and romantic rental. Looking very much forward to have you here with us, Rose & Phillip

décevant

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Owner's Response: We do take the fact that our French guests didn’t enjoy their stay very serious. However, she booked our place thru a machine translated French website copy of VRBO. To put all this into perspective: Her main critique is the fact that there is no pool in our garden, which she claims had been advertised. This had never been advertised. Advertised was the fact that in a 5 minutes car drive there is a very nice public pool nearby in Capannole. On the pictures published in our ad this pool was (and is) visible with many people around, so we deem it obvious that this was (and is) not a private pool in our garden. We actually think she got confused about different places she looked at while booking, and misbooked our place. Her second major complain is about the repayment of the deposit which took over two months and which should have indeed been handled in a smoother fashion by Abritel.fr. We tried several times to get support from VRBO, but they couldn't do anything for us because the payment went through the French site Abritel.fr where you can speak only French; what we don't do unfortunately. However we then paid this directly from our private bank account to her, just in order to settle and not letting her waiting more time for her money. We didn't even know if Abritel.fr would do the same with us. Overall we are really sorry for the fact, she didn’t enjoy her stay, but deem this to be caused both by her not looking very well at what she actually booked (historic building with private garden (no pool in the garden)) as well as to the handling of the deposit by the French site Abritel.fr which seems to be member of the HomeAway Group as well as VRBO is. As a consequence we asked VRBO to delist us from the French website. This listing is now not public any longer, so that in the future we’ll have guests that speak the language we do speak (English, Italian, German). Hopefully this will make sure, that nobody will have any surprises when arriving, but know what they’re booking and thus being able to enjoy their stay. It's not by chance that we have many happy guests who turn back every year..
