Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was an incredible location to explore Salem and the Boston area. This very large home met all of our needs. It is in a beautiful neighborhood, close to the downtown area. It has a large kitchen and dining area, and comfortable living room. Highly recommend for any large family or group of friends!

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful experience and renting this home for our family vacation was perfect! The house itself is beautiful and was nice and clean. The rooms were perfect for our large group. The kitchen was well stocked and had all the utensils we needed. Perfect location.. I ran at the park every morning and along the shore. We plan to do it again soon!

Historic Home in Great Location

  • 2 of 5

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Six of us, all adults, stayed in this home for 10 days in Sept. It is well located - easy access into Boston, good restaurants and fun atmosphere in Salem. The home offers lots of room and privacy for all. However, it didn't meet expectations for cleanliness or give us a welcoming feeling upon our arrival. We had to call the property manager a number of times to take care of routine maintenance items. It was disappointing based on the cost of this property. There was no heat in the downstairs bedroom and the furniture in the second family room left a lot to be desired. We wanted a historic home with character and we got that but overall, we would not stay there again.

Owner's Response: I feel this guest is being a bit dramatic, the house was clean and as advertised, it would seem she worked very hard to not enjoy her stay. Complaining of AC not being cold enough and then the Fireplace not having wood for a fire. We did everything we could to complete her demands and since upgraded some problem areas including replacing the Lobster Statue that she felt was old and worn out. We remind all potential guests that this a 200 year old home, home being key word, it is not a hotel. We work diligently to keep the home in good repair and clean at a very reasonable price.

What a BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this BEAUTIFUL historic home for a lovely weekend in November! The house is such a wonderful place and it is within walking distance of everything that is Salem! You are not going to find a better rental in the area especially for the price! I can't wait until our next stay at the house! The owner Cole was SO helpful with everything including instructions on the house as well as things to do in the area! I am SO glad we chose this destination! Top ratings in our book! :)

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent stay at the Salem House. We were in the area for a family wedding and the house was full with relatives. We were wondering how it would work out with everyone getting ready for the wedding at the same time, but all went well. We really enjoyed evening walks to the commons at the end of the block and were able to easily walk to take in the historical sites. Our age range was 5 months to 70 years. I would highly recommend this Salem experience.

A Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed there on for a week in early May 2012. We loved it! There were 10 in our family. So it fit our family well! We loved having a washer and dryer and 3 1/2 bathrooms. It was only a 15 min. walk to the T station which we took to go to Boston to sightsee (much more convenient than driving and finding a parking spot in Boston). One day we rented a car in Salem and the rental business even came to get us to rent it. The neighborhood was quiet and it was only a couple of short blocks to the big park and the bay. There was a nice fenced in yard with a fire pit to roast marshmellows. And the kitchen was great! We would stay there again in a heart beat and would recommend it to our friends!
