This quaint, comfortable cottage sits on one acre of beach front property. There is a large deck facing Frenchman's Bay with amazing views of Cadillac Mountain (the first place on the East Coast to see the sunrise) and Mount Desert Island. The large lawn is perfect for a game of catch or Frisbee. Lamoine Beach is quiet and great for kids and adults. It has long sandy stretches and a large point with tidal pools that are fun to explore. Our cottage offers the best of both worlds: Enjoy a quiet day on the porch and the beach or head to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park to take in some of the most spectacular coastal attractions in the Northeast. Bar Harbor and Acadia are 20 minutes away by car. Great shopping and antiquing are easily accessible in Blue Hill, Bar Harbor, and Ellsworth. The house has two bedrooms, one with a full-sized bed, one with two twins, plus a full-sized sofa bed. There is a large eat-in kitchen. No pets please. $850/wk (plus 9% Maine sales tax).
This sweet little house is absolutely darling, and very clean! We couldn't wait to get home each night and enjoy the amazing views. The house is very well stocked, you can tell it is someone's home and not just a rental. The side yard is perfect for Frisbee and soccer, my kids loved every minute. Hummingbirds frequently visited the window boxes. Large lobster pot, very nice coffee pot, all the utensils you needed made the vintage kitchen perfect for meals. Thanks again Doug and Carol!!
We just returned from this Lamoine beach cottage rental and I have to give it 5 stars. The location is on the beach, with a State Park next door. You can watch the sunrise and the moon rise over the bay. The beach changes daily. One day the bay is smooth as glass, the next it's rough waves. It is a cozy, truly retro beach cottage. Everything you need, without the noise of modern day electronics. It's close to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Schoodic Point, as close in Maine is. The owners were easy to deal with. I highly recommend this cottage.
Million dollar views of Mount Desert Island and Mount Cadillac within stone's throw of Frenchmen's Bay. Clean cool air. No allergies. Peace. Close to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island but without the crowds. Incredibly relaxing place to stay. Perfect place to get away, escape work and reconnect with the wife and kids. Opportunity to do nothing (naps, read, play checkers and watch osprey and occasion bald eagles from the front porch) or everything from playing catch on the cottage's thick green lawn to sunbathing on the clean sandy beach, swimming, exploring tidal pools and or kayaking--an easy football field distance walk away from the cottage's front door-- to Bar Harbor lobster boat and whale watch tours viewing light houses, seals, puffin, seabirds, whales etc., short trip to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor restaurants and stores, as well as Mount Desert Island hours drawn carriage tour, and hiking opportunity abounds! Our most relaxing and fun vacation EVER with the kids (ages 7 and 5). This is the way vacations should be. A real fun and bonding place. We will be back.
What a wonder play to stay. It was great and relaxing after our several days down on Mount Dessert Island and a gret place to hang out all day and read on the porch or search the shore line for sea glass. It had all the things we needed to fix our own meals when we wanted. We enjoyed eating out at Jordons Pond and downtown Bar Harbor. Ellsworth also has nice places to eat also. China Hill and Jaspers are a good sit down restaurant. There is a home town sub shop on State Street in a convient store that has great subs. The owners are easy to talk to and treated us very well. I would recommend this cottage to all my friends and family. It takes you back in time when there were no microwaves or tv. We only missed a microwave a few times but not the tv.
What a great family retreat we had! The huge yard was perfect for the kids to run around and play...whiffleball, frisbee, etc. The beach was enjoyed by the whole family...mom relaxed with a book, kids explored looking for shells and colored stones and I got to unwind. The kids still talk about digging for clams in the evening and cooking them for dinner. Relaxing on the deck at night gazing at the ocean and Cadillac Mountain was spectacular. Being able to take daytrips to Bar Harbor is great. Restaurants, sight seeing, taking in the local feel of true New England. The cottage is in a great location. Felt plenty of privacy and there was plenty of room inside for all of us to be comfortable. We cannot wait to go back!
Our Sat–Sat stay in August at this cottage in Lamoine was a highlight of the summer. We had a week of pleasantly warm days and refreshingly cool nights, just beautiful weather. It was a great time of the year to be up there, and we could not have been happier with our rented home. We were cozy, comfortable, and so relaxed. It was an ideal base for our Acadian vacation. The yard gives way to the beach, so to enjoy the sun and sand basically all we had to do was step off the deck. Bar Harbor and the other points of interest on Mt. Desert Island were an easy drive away. When we were in the mood for a little hustle and bustle or felt like dining out, we made the short trip over to the island, enjoyed the amenities, and then returned to the serenity of the cottage. It was just fantastic to be able to begin and end every day by looking out at Frenchman's Bay. I highly recommend.
The house is in a great spot for getting a real taste of the Maine coast. We're right on Lamoine Beach with great views of Mount Desert Island and Cadillac Mountain. The beach is perfect for a day relaxing on a towel with a packed lunch -- or just walk back to the house whenever you'd like.
Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are about 20 minutes by car. If you enjoy day hikes, we're in a prime spot -- a convenient drive to the many locations on Mount Desert Island, plus Blue Hill and Schoodic Head.
We're also about 10 minutes from Ellsworth, which has outlets like L.L. Bean, a variety of grocery stores, and a quaint downtown area with nice restaurants, shops, and antiques stores.
