Connecticut Shore House Rental Photos and Description

2BR, 1 & 1/2 Baths, sleeps 5 (max 3 adults), equipped with AC, Washer & Dryer

2 Bedroom, 1 & 1/2 Bath year round house in the scenic and classic New England town of Madison, CT on Long Island Sound. A 550 foot walk to private LI Sound Beach as shown in Photos. House is also located on the Western edge of Hammonasset Beach State Park. Our house, at 7 Pent Road, is on a very private, quiet, dead end lane, in a family neighborhood just off Webster Point Road. Madison is in the heart of the Connecticut 'Gold Coast', a series of small sea shore New England towns where Boating, Beaches, Swimming, and Restaurants are all in abundance. Day trips to Providence Rhode Island, Old Essex CT, Yale/New Haven and Mystic Aquarium are among the local venues.

Directions To House: Directions to the house are:

Take I-95 to exit 62 (Hammonasset State park). Turn south towards Hammonasset Park, go about 1.2 miles to end which intersects with Rt 1 (Entrance to Hammonasset Park is straight ahead). Turn Right (West) onto Rt 1, go 0.6 miles and turn left (your first left on Rt 1) onto Liberty Street, and then immediately left again onto Webster Point Road. Go .3 miles and the road forks, bear left onto Pent Road, our house is 7 Pent Road, it is Blue, and on the left. It's just past the start of Pent Road.

To get to the Town of Madison; go back to Liberty Street, turn left; follow it out to the light where it merges with Rt 1. Follow Rt 1 (West) about 1 mile and you will go right into Madison which is very quaint - typically New England town (there is a Starbucks at the end of town on the right).

Truely a Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

My sister lives in Minnesota and really wanted a beach vacation. This cute little house is what she found through HomeAway. It was absolutely what we were looking for - Perfect. Tthere are so many things to do in the area. We spent a good amount of time at the semi-private beach. It appears to be a neighborhood beach. We watched the natives ride the tides on the adjacent creek when the tides went in and out. It was really pretty funny how they created their own natural water park. We ate at many of the local seafood places. We cooked a great steak on the grill out in the back yard. And there is also a local Kayaking company for the adventurous. Nearby you could take the Thimble Island Boat Tour out of Stony Creek in Branford - 15 minutes away. And then there is the Greenway Trail you can walk to Hammonasset State Beach right down at the end of the road. It was a wonderful time. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

Perfect Balance --- Amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

This property is in an amazing LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION... the beach is a 3 minute walk, yes, wonderful, but, the neighborhood and the people are so friendly and unassuming - they are open, welcoming and helpful. The house is in a quiet, low traffic, family friendly area secluded and private. It is also just a 5 minute drive to the lovely relaxed "you are at the beach" town center of Madison, CT --- easy grocery shopping, all ranges of restaurants to the most casual to extra special formal!

The house was completely outfitted with all necessities and conveniences and your hosts, Gene and Susan, most helpful, accommodating and sincere in their wish for their beach cottage to be a comfortable "home away from home"! It is a place to relax, enjoy the outdoor shower, cook or grill, walk, read, play games and enjoy spring-summer the way it should be! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Review Revisited

  • 4 of 5

In our last review of this home we mentioned the concern for mildew and the owners' attempts to correct it. We recently revisited the home and the Goodman's have gone and corrected the mildew problem we encountered. It was a problem with the basement washer which had a loose drain that spilled out onto the floor and water was allowed to puddle in the low spots. I guess other renters did not mind and did not contact the Goodman's so the basement remained damp and hence the mildew.

On my last trip in May we were delighted to see that the home was clean and the basement dry. Thank you for listening. You are great! You even have a new and very comfortable sofa in the living room. Now if there was only a TV upstairs for the sports nuts in the family to monopolize, the home would be ideal. Thank you Gene & Sue. You know we will be back.

A Delightful Walk to the Beach

  • 4 of 5

Everyday was a new experience! New flowers to see new kitties to pet, more bunnies to watch nibble the grass. The home was as pictured. The house is reasonably clean. Mildew was a problem but after a week of washing with Lysol, it was livable.Gene, the owner made every attempt to set things right. A true gentleman. He drove fifty miles from his home to correct a problem with the washer. The home is very bright and peaceful. Sitting on the sunporch after supper and watching the birds was a delight. The short walk to the beach was so enjoyable. So many different flowers in the neighborhood gardens. Everyone was so friendly. The beach is a small, private area and great for quiet reading, sea life watching or great swimming. Our favorite spot. If the house had drawbacks it would be the lack of comfortable living room furniture and no TV in the upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen is adequately supplied with utensils and is user friendly. The full bath downstairs was very clean and airy. The large dining room was wonderful for a large family get together. If the mildew problem can be resolved, I would certainly be back in the spring. I offered several solutions to Gene and he said he would look into them. If you seek the quiet comfort of a private hideaway, yet close to everything, this is it. For good dining try Donahue's on Route 1, or Aqua's at the marina in Clinton.Bradley and Wall have the best pizza and take out on Wall Street.

lovely cottage by the sea

  • 5 of 5

This is a sweet, simple home in a quiet neighborhood. It is steps away from a private beach which is a wonderful area to explore or relax - the exploring is especially good during low tide. There is a swing out front that my children adored. The house was clean and very comfortable and when we were there in May the landscaping was beautifully in bloom. Don't expect to find anything in the way of pantry supplies - apart from salt and pepper - but the house is otherwise well equipped with basic kitchen tools you might need to prepare a meal or make some coffee. The host is very pleasant and organized and our entire experience from inquiry to end was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable.
