Clayton Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

You’ll fall in love with our quaint and charming lakeside cottage located on Lake Burton’s beautiful Timpson Cove. It's a perfect place to enjoy all the beauty fall offers in the mountains or to come spend the holidays. This lovingly renovated home on the water's edge features a two story, two bedroom, two bath floor plan with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Enjoy the inviting great room’s native stone wood-burning fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, and dining area for six. The cozy main level bedroom features one double bed with a connecting full bath. Downstairs, a large second bedroom includes one queen bed, a set of twin bunk beds, and a full bath.

Bead board pine tongue and groove walls and hardwood floors lend a warm, rustic elegance to the cottage. Amenities include central A/C and heat, ceiling fans, satellite TV, wireless internet, DVD and CD players, dishwasher, microwave, washer, dryer and charcoal grill.

As the day dawns, awake to the beauty of the mist rising off the lake as Charlie Mountain watches over from above. Sip a morning cup of coffee on the covered lower deck, or settle into a comfy Adirondack glider on the open upper deck.

When you’re ready to play on the lake, there's much to do! Your private dock and boathouse enticingly await in front of the cottage. Bring your own boat or rent one from nearby marinas. Ski, swim and splash in refreshing mountain waters. Cast a fishing line and catch your supper. Soak up some rays. Celebrate a sunset.

And, if you can ever tear yourself away from the lake, more adventures abound! Hike along the Appalachian, slip down Sliding Rock, explore beautiful state parks, go white-water rafting, enjoy shopping and antiquing, play a round of golf, or sample the delicious flavors of area restaurants.

Then, as twilight falls upon the Blue Ridge, be dazzled by the night sky. Fall asleep to the sounds of the mountains.

Come enjoy the simple pleasures of our House by the Side of the Lake. You may never want to leave!

About Charlotte and Martha Miller

Sisters Charlotte and Martha Miller have been coming to Lake Burton since the late 1960's. As children, we fell in love with the lake on our first visit to the cabin of a dear family friend. It wasn't long before our parents found a lake home to call our own! Through the years, many happy memories have been created here with family and friends. And, with the family's very precious addition of Charlotte's daughter, Lily, a new generation of Millers is lovin' the lake! Spending time here is truly a cherished tradition and we invite you to come begin your own memories!

Charlotte and Martha Miller purchased this cottage in 1970

What makes this cottage unique

Waking up to the reflection of Charlie Mountain as morning mist rises off the lake, boating amidst the beauty of the Blue Ridge, sitting on the deck as dusk falls and the stars start to twinkle, and being in the most beautiful, peaceful place we know.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an excellent stay! I am hoping for us to return for a few days before autumn. The house is all that a lake house should be...a little rustic, timeless, and completely comfortable.

Great, Cozy, Relaxing get away

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a quiet get away for some much needed rest and rejuvenation. This place was ideal for that. We enjoyed the comfortable bed, the amazing view, the resident barn swallow visiting each morning and did I mention the view? We did not want to leave the cottage. Everything was perfect from communicating with the owner, Charlotte to being able to eat on the "good" silverware! The only regrets we have is that we did not stay for a week. This place is ideal for a quiet stay in get away, or if you prefer going out to enjoy some of the local sights. Book it now! You will not be disappointed!

Perfect Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this cottage!! We needed a calm, peaceful, long weekend not too far from Atlanta and this was so perfect! RIGHT on the lake, incredible views from two porches. We took the canoe out often, the boys successfully fished with crickets, swam in the brisk water and played many many board games and card games and barely turned the TV on (one football game!) House is clean and perfectly stocked. We thought we would eat out more often but we grilled out on the porch nearly every meal because we did not want to leave the lake. Thank you for sharing this special place with us!

3rd time here - still great!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have rented this cottage three times now and we still love it! Everything from our 2013 review holds true - it's just the perfect storybook cottage and we're always in awe at how beautiful the lake & mountains are. The cottage is NOT your typical "rental property." The decor is unique and charming, and you really feel like you're sharing the home of the very nice owners. We took the canoe out several times and went quite a distance along the shore - it's fun to look at the large mansions that have been built on this lake. The lake is very clear and great for swimming - perfect temperature in August. We didn't need to use the A/C at all because of the mountain breezes and cool nights. We'll definitely be back!

Girlfriend's Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We love this place! We are three old friends that had not see each other for 10 years, finding the perfect place to reconnect. The house is clean, well furnished, and comfortable to hang out in. The outside double decker deck is the best feature. The covered bottom porch is dry even during a hard rain. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms well equipped and plenty of dishes, pots and pans to cook with. There is a canoe available , which we took for a spin at dusk. Can't wait to go back during warm weather for a swim.

Friends Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

It took us forever to find a weekend when we all could meet in the mountains and leave our busy lives to spend some quality time together. The weekend forecast predicted rain but that didn't matter because the cozy cabin's fireplace offered warmth and ambience to gather around and the lower deck (overlooking the quiet lake) offered relaxing lounge chairs for book reading and coffee while listening to the birds and rain drops. A break in the rain came on Saturday morning when we took the canoe out for our maiden voyage. Later after dinner, thinking ourselves experienced, we took the canoe back out as the last bit of light left us on a lake of glass and the night noises returned. Fortunately we left the porch and boat house lights on so we could find our way home. There were ample spaces for gathering and quiet places for alone time at the cabin and boat dock. This very clean cabin made us feel welcome and comfortable with flower pots brimming with color, whimsey and eclectic decor in and out, equipped kitchen with extra supplies plus comfy beds, up close views of Lake Burton from both decks and breathtaking view of Charlie Mountain. The only thing we missed was the millions of stars we can't see in the city. So I guess we will just have to come back.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for taking the time to review your get away weekend at our cottage. We are so happy you had a wonderful time and discovered the beauty of the lake, even on a rainy weekend! No matter what the weather, the lake and surrounding mountains have a special magic all their own. We look forward to you returning for another trip when there’s not a cloud in sight and the stars are brightly twinkling across the night sky!

We love this cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a relaxing week here in late August. If you have any stress in your life (and who doesn't?), it will MELT AWAY here!! Everything about this place is wonderful - the beautiful lake/mountain view, the decor in the cottage, the two decks, the hammock, the canoe, proximity to Anchorage Marina for boat rental, swimming in the cool refreshing lake, hummingbirds and butterflies. The cottage is very clean and well equipped and had everything we could have wanted for our vacation. It was even better than it looked on this website. The owners have done a great job setting it up for a stress-free vacation. It's such a peaceful and lovely place, it was hard to leave!

We had never been to this part of N. GA before, so we took side trips to Black Rock Mountain State Park, Dillard House, and Tallulah Gorge. All were awesome & within a reasonable drive. Clayton is about 15 minutes away - there are shops and restaurants, and the Clayton Pharmacy has an old-fashioned soda fountain. The BBQ at the Lake Burton Grocery (5 minute away) is very good. But you may not want to leave the cottage once you get there, so stock up on groceries at the large Ingles supermarket in Clayton and the kitchen has everything you need to fix your own meals to enjoy on the deck. We can hardly wait to return here next summer!
