Lovely cozy place to stay

  • 5 of 5

I just stayed here for 6 weeks and loved it. The space is well laid out, with many places to sit and work, do crafts or puzzles or whatever. The kitchen is tiny but open to the main room, so it feels bigger. The bed was very comfortable, and right outside my bedroom as a nice patio and lots of plants and foliage. I had to work a lot while staying there, and the WiFi was very good from every spot in the apartment and on the deck.

Sabine, the owner, lives downstairs in the main house. She was so friendly and helpful - she added warmth and hospitality to the experience. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area

Great, cozy, charming

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay!!! I stayed there with my husband and baby and it was perfect. Me and the baby slept in one room on the futon and my husband slept in the bed. The baby was able to play on futon on the ground. This place is very charming. There is a nice kitchen area as well. Sabina, the owner, is very nice, thoughtful and sweet. She left a little teddy bear on the bed for our little one when we visited. I would highly recommend this place.

Wonderful place to stay in the Berkshires!

  • 5 of 5

I very much enjoyed my stay here in this private, quiet space with lush surroundings. Sabine, the owner, is very responsive and helpful. The apartment is well-located, and no detail is missed. It's comfortably furnished with all the amenities you need.

For years, I have been going to the Berkshires with Tanglewood as the focal point of my stay. Usually my trips have been day trips or I've stayed overnight in a hotel for one night. This year, I decided to rent a place, and after my experience staying in this apartment, it was definitely the best decision I could have made. I look forward to staying here again!

Relaxing , comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

I spent the month of August 2013 at this very well designed apartment in the beautiful Berkshires. The property is very cleverly designed with lovely gardens, everything you could need in a small space and charm to die for . I was able to entertain overnight guests as well as work full time from the property and enjoyed the gardens and the birds more than I can say. Those who need to stay connected need to know that wireless access is only available in the bedroom and on the deck ...I would recommend to anyone wanting a true Berkshire experience and I would note that the owner is truly lovely and accommodating

Fantastic Winter Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent the majority of the ski season (Jan & Feb) staying here. My husband and I loved it! Just a 10 min drive to Butternut, the apartment is nestled in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, but very close to all the happenings and fantastic restaurants in the Great Barrington area. This incredibly clean and neatly maintained "rustic meets modern" apartment is peppered with Sabina's interesting artwork and artistic touches. From the French press and goose down comforter to the washer and dryer, it was great having the comforts of home while on vacation. We would definitely return!

A Wonderful place in the Berkshires

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I came up here from New York, just after Hurricane Sandy, and booked for a well-needed one month respite. It has been a wonderful experience for us, and Sabine's little apartment has been terrific. It is clean and quiet, private, very tastefully decorated and has real charm, with lovely wooden floors throughout. The amenities are very well thought out too, with a great washer and dryer in the hallway, microwave, toaster oven and 2 burner stove in the kitchen. Sabine even supplies washing soaps, dryer sheets, shampoo, dish soap, etc. There is a really strong wifi signal in the bedroom, for those who need to stay in touch during their stay (it is not so strong in the other room). The bathroom is very nicely decorated, nothing fancy but clean and efficient. Good lighting all throughout the house, which is important to me. She also supplies books and videos on her shelves that are quite good.

The area surrounding the house is very nice too, beautifully pastoral/rural with nice walking options. Stockbridge is a very short 3 miles from the house, and the Norman Rockwell museum is a short walk up the road. Lenox is about 10 minutes to the north and Great Barrington is about 10 minutes to the south. Just driving around and exploring the nearby back roads is well worth it. The amazing Berkshire Bakery is about 7 minutes away and is a must when you are here ... in fact, you may end up there every day like we have. The Brick House Pub is also a wonderful place to have a beer, some great food, and watch the Sunday football games.

As for Sabine herself, she is a delightful woman and a very talented artist with abundant knowledge about the local area (restaurants, museums, hikes, etc.). She doesn't interfere with your stay in any way, but is very accommodating when or if she is needed. When you arrive she gives you a scrapbook she has put together with tips on where to dine, shop, hike, etc. Very nice touch.

If pressed to name any drawbacks, all I can think of is that the ceilings are low along the sides of the kitchen area, and in the doorways. Since I am 1.85 m tall I hit my head a few times (my wife had no such problems, I should add, and blames it on my own clumsiness!). The kitchen is small, but very efficient and we were able to fully function with cooking and having a normal home life.

I would absolutely recommend this place to others, and in fact I already have.

Year round rental available, contact owner for rate details. - Great Barrington, MA - 7 Miles, voted best small town in the US by Smithonian Magazine May, 2012 NEW ENGLAND NATURAL IN AN ART-RICH MOUNTAIN SETTING You’ve got to slow down when Route 7 leaves behind the wide-open valley of the Housatonic River to enter Great Barrington. The road becomes Railroad Street there, right of way to pedestrians stalled in the crosswalk trying to decide whether to have sushi or chimichangas for dinner. Great Barrington (pop. 6,800) is like a big city where you can get anything you want, to borrow the chorus from “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree,” by hometown boy Arlo Guthrie. He was 18 when he wrote the satirical ballad about true events on Thanksgiving Day 1965, when he got arrested for illegally dumping some of Alice’s trash, ultimately making him ineligible for the Vietnam War draft. Trinity Church, former abode of the celebrated Alice, is now the Guthri
