About Victoria Schilling
We are a young family of four living in paradise.. I am a transplant to Montana from Sydney, Australia via London and New York. Despite having grown up in a large coastal city in Australia, and worked most of my career in the corporate world in big cities, life in the country was the dream - a place to breathe fresh air, take things a little more slowly, appreciate nature, enjoy quality of life and raise a family. My husband is a local - he grew up here, was educated here, runs a business here and his family all still live here. It was an easy decision for us to start our family life here together and create a home for our two wonderful children. We love and appreciate where we live and hope to be able to share it with you someday. Victoria Schilling

Why Victoria Schilling chose Livingston
We knew this was the place for our family when we found it - properties like this in the Shields Valley of this size, with private river frontage and still close to Livingston, are hard to come by. The Shields Valley is a magical place. Picturesque, undeveloped, with the river, the mountains, the wildlife and birdlife, the warm glow of the rising sun on the Crazy Mountains, clear twinkling night skies - it is hard not to feel privileged to live somewhere so special. Being right on the Shields River we enjoy all it has to offer including swimming, tubing and fishing in summer, and in winter we are able to ice-skate on our own frozen pond and cross-country ski through the wonderful walking trails through our woods. Also for us the convenience of living in the country, just 10 minutes from the historic town of Livingston, is the perfect balance.
What makes this House unique
The guest house is the original ranch house on the property, all on one level it is ideally laid out with the master bedroom and en-suite at one end of the house, the second bathroom and two bedrooms along a hallway at the other end, and the kitchen and open dining area and living room in the middle. It is set up as we would like it set up for ourselves, our family and friends, so there are a lot more of the little extras and conveniences that make it even more like a home away from home. Right on the Shields River, fishing access doesn't get much better. River access also provides ample swimming and tubing opportunities. With stunning views of the Crazy Mountains and surrounded by a huge expanse of lawn, it is ideal for outdoor relaxing and games. There are private woods, walking trails and a riverside path to stretch your legs and explore. The property has all the benefits of a country hideaway, yet is barely 10 minutes' drive to the historic town of Livingston with all its amenities, services, outfitters, shopping, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, museums and galleries; 40 minutes to the larger town of Bozeman and Bozeman Yellowstone International airport (BZN); barely an hour's drive to Yellowstone National Park; and less than an hour to the nearest ski field.

Beautiful, serene setting. Nicely appointed house-everything provided. Great Owner
Plenty of space for 3 adult couples. Wonderful setting and wonderful owners. Great location, easy to get to Livingston and Bozeman. Beds were very comfortable and the best thing for 3 couples is that each room can be temperature adjusted for heat! Kitchen is well appointed and the washer and dryer came in very handy for a 10 day visit! Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
The daily visits from the pups were a treat!
Best vacation home ever!
We have stayed here twice and have absolutely loved it both times. This is the best equipped rental home we have ever stayed at. A beautiful setting outside of Livingston providing a peaceful place to relax and enjoy. Victoria and Stu always make us feel so welcome. We will definitely return.
Well equipped, comfortable and great location.
Shields River Hideaway was the perfect stay for our fly fishing adventure in the Livingston/Bozeman area. The owners thought of every possible need. We were surrounded by wildlife and beautiful scenery in every direction. A welcome basket filled with homemade treats, wine and local goodies was an added bonus! We would recommend this property to anyone seeking a peaceful get-away and a "home base" for exploring all that the area has to offer.
Early April 2016
Spring Creek fishing with 3 friends had us at the Shields River Hideaway. The house is attractive, comfortable, and the most thoroughly outfitted place I have ever stayed. Victoria is a very pleasant host. Most ideal for two couples or a family. Secluded, 10 minutes to Livingston, beautiful rangeland and snow capped mountains all around. Expect to be back again next year, and the 5 stars are fully deserved.
Fall in SW Montana
Shields River Hideaway was a great base of operations from which to see SW Montana and Yellowstone Park. Secluded and quiet yet close to amenities in Livingston and a 30 minute drive from all that Bozeman has to offer. The house was perfect for two couples with bedrooms at either end of house: privacy and all the comforts of home. Victoria, our host, was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. A great experience!
Shields River Hideaway was ideal; every aspect of it was just delightful. The setting, the river access, the spacious, comfortable home, the incredibly well-equipped kitchen - all contributed to a wonderful vacation. The host was very gracious and helpful, and has obviously put great thought and care into this rental experience. Livingston was wonderfully convenient - and the boyhood home of my fiance'. We would have LOVED to have stayed longer, and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
First class wade fishing can be found right out the door on the pristine Shields River. Excellent fishing, rafting and kayaking also on the Yellowstone River just 2 miles from the property plus abundant fishing options at nearby spring creeks, fisheries and rivers.
Many local outfitters offer horse riding, trail rides, zip line, whitewater rafting etc, all within reasonable driving distance.
Yellowstone National Park offers year round interest and activities, 65 miles to park entrance.
In winter downhill skiing is available at Bridger Bowl or Big Sky Resort, cross country skiing is also possible right on the property.
