We bought the vacation home because we were always looking for a place large enough to accommodate our family vacations. When we had the opportunity to buy Gardale Retreat we knew that other families would enjoy vacationing here too. It is the perfect size and location for a family vacation.
When you rent all three units you will enjoy the privacy that a family vacation can bring. You feel like you will own the lake. Great for large parties, group outings, multi-family get-a-ways or family reunions.
We vacationed at the Gardale Retreat in November. It was amazing. The house was very warm and cozy and large enough for everyone to move around and have quiet time to themselves. On the warmer days we enjoyed sitting by the water, feeding the ducks and watching a beautiful sunset over Houghton Lake. The house has everything you need. Games, a gas grill, and even satellite television to help get the kids to bed! If you are trying to decide on a trustworthy and quality place to vacation then look no further than Gardale. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Our extended family (20+) has stayed here three times, and we find the cabins/house a great space to relax and share family memories. There's plenty of space to spread out, but enough room in the main house to hang out all together when we want to. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the gas grill big enough for a large group. We do almost all our meals family style, so it's great to have both the space and equipment to cook easily all week. The lake is beautiful, and there's plenty of space for our nightly campfire by the water. Dale is extremely helpful and accessible, willing to make suggestions too. Very comfortable and inviting space!
I've stayed here 4 times. A fishing trip for my son's high school graduation, which was memorable for the many walleye we caught. Another fishing trip with my dad, my brothers-in-law and our sons was also memorable but more for the great time hanging out in the house. Twice I have also spent the weekend with my wife. Kayaking on the lake, reading on the shore, and just enjoying the beautiful scenery in the relaxing setting. We don't own a place Up North, but if we did this would be what we'd want.
We will keep coming back!
After spending weeks looking for the perfect spot to stay "Up North" we found this property. The house and cabins were clean, well-maintained and ideal for our needs. The rooms were spacious and the linens were spotless. The kitchen had everything we needed...it was almost like being at home, but much better because we weren't at home!
Did I mention that we were only a short distance from the backdoor to the lake? And what a lake it is! The dock allowed us to secure our boat and made for a quick get-away when the kids were ready to ski.
If you ever want a place to watch a summer sunset...just right outside your back door and just feet from the lake...this is your place.
Thank you to the landlord for making this a perfect vacation for our families and once for our entire staff!
we rented cabin 2 Aug 14 to 21 of 2011. I thought that I was getting cabin 1 but they are identical so no big deal. The cabin had 2 nice queen size beds with nice sheets. The third bedroom had a set of bunk beds which were fine as they gave the room lots of space for a pack in play. The cabin was clean and had nice windows and screen to let in air. The bedrooms also had small fans for circulation. The cabin did not have a washer and dryer as stated in the add. This was a problem as I only had clothes for 4 days and the towels needed washed up. The owner said he would give me the code to the house on Wednesday as it was not cleaned and I could not use the washer and dryer. This was not true as the house was cleaned and the washer and dryer were in an other area from the main house. You could look through the window and the cleaning service was there on Monday using the washer. The cabin had only 4 plates and 2 small Perri knives. There were not any pots to boil water in. There were 2 skillets and a blender to use for a pitcher. The house keeper did get me a few pots from cabin 1 and a large knife. If you wanted to cook or have anyone over for dinner this is not the cabin for you. I realized after that the cabin is used to sleep in and the main house for cooking and washing. The bathroom has a small shower and is small. The owner did call me on Friday to give me the code to use the washer but by this time I had gone to town to use the laundry mat. The pontoon was not working either. The add has since been corrected and this should help all who rent.
