About Wendy or Brad

Hi friends! We love VRBO. Our quaint little historic downtown pioneer home is fun for skiers, convention-goers, university students, or visiting family members. It's been partially renovated but much of it's original turn-of-the-century originality is still left in-tact. You'll enjoy the area's history staying in this home, and is for sure to add a little vintage nostalgia to any vacation.

Wendy or Brad purchased this house in 2009

Why Wendy or Brad chose Salt Lake City

Short drive or train ride to to Salt Palace Convention Center. Home is right in the heart of Salt Lake's historic Trolley Square/University district, walking distance to Trolley Square, restaurant row, and lightrail street car station. Just 25 mins. to Park City! Skiers, business travelers love this location and SO DO WE!

What makes this house unique

Fun, local downtown environment is so much fun! Comfortable and vintage furnishings, tasteful interior décor, added conveniences like WIFI, satellite TV, and washer/dryer make it more enjoyable.

Also when you stay here, you receive discounts on local services we are partnered with like rental cars, lift tickets, city sightseeing tour passes, ski rentals, private driver transportation service, grocery delivery, catered meals, in-home massage, and so much more.

House was quite nice, unbeatable walking distance location

  • 4 of 5

We felt quite comfortable here. The owner (company) was great to deal with and very responsive. The home is older, but we knew that when we rented it. It is fun to stay in a vintage historical-style residence in a location like Salt Lake with so much history.

The home had comfortable furnishings, new fresh linens, the hot tub was clean and useable, and the walk was convenient to the train stop. We did have an issue with needing a few extra pillows, but we called and they promptly brought them right over. We would recommend bringing no more than 10 if staying here as it can get a bit too crowded. But, all in all, the home was prepared nicely for us and in years past, we have not found a better location in downtown Salt Lake.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. We try very hard to make this an enjoyable, comfortable home for guests. The location is truly unbeatable and it makes up for whatever age-related issues the home may have (cricks and creeks, etc). Alot of people tell us how much they love its charm and that it has not been altered.

Hard to believe these other reviews are real... Fair at best.

We just got back from our stay at this trolley heights house and while the house did not wreck anyone's week, it certainly is not the house depicted in the listing.

I'll start with the Cons:

> House is smaller and dirtier than it looks in the photos.

>Every single dish in the house was crusty and dirty, some where completely unwashed.

>The shower heads are very low, its pretty comical, and the hot water heater cannot accommodate 12 guests, or even half of that.

>Several doors in the house do not latch. Downstairs bathroom lock was not working and the door was so loud that people sleeping were woken up by it.

>The sofas are very dirty and need steam cleaning. Some of the bed spreads were also dirty (albeit easy to miss there was a small blood stain on one)

>The jacuzzi is stained brown and yellow and the lid is crumbling apart

>The house still receives mail, over the time we were there the mailbox filled up completely and the mailman began stacking mail on the front porch, some of which blew away with the wind.

>The sleeper sofa is broken. The mechanism to open it is very stiff and once you do get it open the head of the mattress is well below the rest of it. Had to use sofa cushions to prop it up.

>The washer and dryer are just a joke. I think the dryer could be heard from over a block away, lol..

OK Now with the PROs:

>The Utah's Best Vacation Rentals staff was very easy to work with and well organized. They get an administrative 5 stars.

>Rental car discount - a major plus.

>The location of the house is pretty hard to beat.

>This place was inexpensive (our rates were on the low end of the spectrum listed here on VRBO. Would definitely not be worth the upper end.)

Owner's Response: We take great pride in the homes we offer and felt this review was a bit unfair. We make it very clear that this home is "vintage historic", meaning it is has all of its originality with some modern updates. We have since removed the hot tub from this property as it was worn out. The cleanliness is not an issue. We deep cleaned carpets and addressed whatever issues were brought to our attention. New dishware and kitchen supplies were added to freshen things up. It's hard to judge this home by just one review when so many hundreds of other families have quite enjoyed this home and its charm. The location is unbeatable as well. There are tradeoffs for the convenience. We o our very best to keep this home nice considering its age and things outside our control.

Owner and staff were Outstanding

We visited Utah for a ski trip. The staff were outstanding - very understanding and helpful. Also, the discounts offered on rental ski equipment and lift tickets were excellent and much appreciated. And the skiing was excellent.

Holiday was great

  • 5 of 5

Just got back. We stayed here for the summer holiday. Location was perfect. We went to the parade and walked to the shopping mall. Was so much fun. House was nice, suitable, a bit old, but we expected that. The furniture was newer and nice. Kitchen was appropriately stocked. Pictures were acurate. Front porch is not as new as the photo shows, but still functional. For a downtown home for the price and location, not bad.

Location is great!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over the 4th and loved the location. The home is older but nice. It's got nice updated furniture and teh dining table was large enough to seat 8. The beds were comfortable. We were able to walk down to the shopping mall and took the train to downtown to see the new mall. We had a blast. The kitchen was adequately supplied to cook a meal for 10 of us. We'd recommend staying here with 6-7 people.

fun Salt Lake scene

  • 5 of 5

Salt Lake City was totally not what I expected it to be. It was actually a fun scene.

The hose was nice, older, but comfortable. The kitchen needed more seating, but we just ate on the couches while watching TV. The hardwood floors were nice. Beds were comfortable. Fun location.

We enjoyed being in the middle of hte nightlife scene and checkin out the ecclectic shops nearby and lots of dining options within walking distance.

We'd stay here again if we ever return to Salt Lake. Not bad for the price.
