Grachtengordel Townhome Rental Photos and Description

Townhouse, 1 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The apartment is a self-contained, 19th century townhouse with private entrance from the street. It is 800 sq ft, plus a roof deck. It is on 3 whole floors, with the 1st floor the kitchen and huge table, the 2nd floor the very large living room and sleeping area, and the 3rd floor the master bedroom. There are 1.5 bathrooms.

The apartment is nicely equipped, with all sheets, duvet, towels, etc. and recently repainted. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, dishwasher, washer, microwave, gas stove and other appliances. The living room has a new 46' HD LED TV (cable with 35+ channels in various languages, video on demand), radio, phone. There is free high-speed 20MB/s internet connection, wired and wireless.

The bedroom is large, and a romantic space for two people with access to the roof garden and view of Amsterdam. The living room has a very comfortable proper 2-bed unit that converts into a good bed, and an additional comfortable single sofa bed.

There is of course the normal big couch for normal sittings.

The apartment is right in the heart of Amsterdam, in the artistic Jordaan district, full of cafés, restaurants, bars, galleries, speciality shops. It is a laid-back 'Greenwich Village' of Amsterdam. The apartment is on a side street, 1/2 block from the canals, so it is very quiet at night.

We stayed in this apartment (4 of us) for 3 nights. Everything went well - communication with the owner, key pick-up, the rental was as described, really full of personality!

We will be back!

Authentic Dutch Townhouse in Great Neighbourhood

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at this townhouse with my husband and three kids in August. It had all the amenities as described in the listing, with the bonus of a clothes dryer. There was lots of space and the rooftop patio was a nice extra - great for relaxing at night. While I found the steep stairs a bit daunting at first, I grew to appreciate the authenticity of them. The host was very responsive by email and sent detailed instructions and information. The neighbourhood was fantastic! We always felt safe. There was a great outdoor market around the corner on Saturdays and we found a great local restaurant where we ate twice (Lucca Restaurant). The only negative was that the house needs some attention. It could really use a good cleaning and fresh coat of paint.

Very spacious house, with 3 floors and a roof top terrace. LOTS of narrow stairs. Location is very good, walking distance from Central Station and basically everywhere. It's in a great neighborhood, very quiet at night. It was great to come "home" in the evening to an authentic Dutch townhouse instead of the usual hotel room.

My family , including 3 young kids ( aged 4,7and 9 ) stayed at this lovely apartment for a week in July. I had researched what area to stay in Amsterdam and decided on Jordaan. We couldn't have picked a better location. The apartment was only a few minutes walk from a selection of restaurants and local shops , and some of Amsterdams main attractions were also within walking distance even with 3 young kids. It was lovely just walking around and mixing with the locals. The apartment was in pretty good condition , I would describe it as lived in as opposed to perfectly furnished. The pictures of the property were as on the website, ( one small thing was there was no outdoor table and chairs on the rooftop as shown in a picture) The stairs are very steep but the kids got used to them very quickly, just make sure they either walk bear foot or with shoes. I have given the property 4 as opposed to 5 stairs because some of the furnishings in the apartment were a bit tired but we would definitely recommend this apartment. We loved Amsterdam and would love to visit again.

We lived like locals. Lovely!

  • 5 of 5

Now we have a home-from-home in Jordaan, our favourite area of Amsterdam. Spacious, cosy, furnished with agreeable simplicity yet every convenience. Original artwork on the walls, large light-filled rooms, natural wood floors. Quiet house on a residential street yet with cafes, bars, galleries, markets and canals all around. Highlights for us were: talking with very friendly locals, browsing local markets and galleries, many hours drifting through Amsterdam on canal boats, and Rembrandt's house which is fascinating, atmospheric and moving (you can also make your own print there.) We travelled everywhere easily on foot and by canal bus.

Charming apartment in the best neighborhood!

  • 4 of 5

We really loved this apartment for its charming layout and location. It feel spacious yet cozy since it was well equipped with everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet enough so that my 2 little ones could sleep well. We loved the large family style dining table/open kitchen. The livingroom had a nice flatscreen TV and CD player, felt like home. The steps were daunting at first but we got used to them quickly. Just pack light so you don't have to carry too much up! The owner is very kind and responsive to all our questions, as it was our first time in amsterdam. There are so many great cafes & restaurants nearby, which made it a real vacation for me! We look forward to staying here again. Use Park & Ride if you are driving here, very easy by tram or bus. I hope to be back!
