Beautiful home, walking distance to waterfront in Bar Harbor. Wonderful back deck and grill. Lovely private front porch. Quiet neighborhood. Great kitchen. The owner was gracious and quick to respond to questions about the cable and even a good mechanic for our car. Very relaxing. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Modern home within walking distance to downtown
Loved staying there. Would stay again.
A Wonderful House
My family of 5 stayed for the first week of August. The house is beautiful. Wonderfully restored and very spacious. There is a nice front porch with a swing, a large deck on the side and back of the home. For children, there is a swing set in the back yard. A gas grill was very much appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked and the home was VERY CLEAN. Always my top priority. The Master Bedroom and Bath are very large with lots of closet space.
One of the other tree bedrooms is massive with a large sitting area and a flat screen TV. The many windows provided lots of breeze and we were always comfortable. The location is a big loss. You can walk to town in 5 minutes and it is one block away from the second Mt Dessert Island Ice Cream Shop. The YMCA is around the corner and we used it daily. There are drop in rates for non-members and out of town members. We highly recommend this beautiful property.
Our Favorite Place to Stay on Mt. Desert
We've stayed twice at this lovely family home, and plan to return many times more. It is comfortable, beautiful, very clean, well-stocked, and spacious. It is very well-located near the best restaurants in Bar Harbor and the end of the Shore Path, on the quieter side of town. You can bike or drive onto the Park Loop Road via a "back way" that starts only a few blocks from the cottage. The fenced back yard is a huge bonus for families with small children. The deck is large and comfy, and we've had several great evening barbecues on it. And I can't say enough good things about the owners, who are lovely to work with and incredibly thoughtful and helpful. We've stayed all around the island and at other houses in Bar Harbor, and this is by far our favorite cottage rental and favorite part of the island. I'm just not interested in staying anywhere else!
Wonderful stay June 2014
My family and I had a wonderful week stay from june 21-28 2014. The house was beautiful and very spacious. It has been kept immaculate. For my family, this house was in the perfect location, walking distance to town if we wanted to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping but on a quiet street. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices, pans, cups, dishes, whatever you would need. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and full of plenty of towels. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it. The owners are very organized and easy to work with.
I want to add that I choose my rentals based on reviews and although there are about 15 great reviews on here, there is a book full of many more in the house from happy families.
We look forward to staying here again.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for your kind words! So glad you had a good time and look forward to having you again!
The pictures don't do this house justice. This was our 5th time in Bar Harbor, and this house was by far the nicest, most spacious house we have stayed in. Plenty of space for entertaining, which worked well with other family members staying in nearby homes. The home was well set up for small children with an entire cabinet devoted to plastic plates, cups and bowls and a great play set in the backyard, along with a few toys and games in the house. The location worked well for us. A few blocks further out of town, which meant nice and quiet, but still easily walkable to everything. And just a few short blocks to our favorite restaurant, Poor Boy's.
The kitchen was stocked with every spice you could think of, and plenty of pots and pans. The only issue was it took us a few minutes to figure out the surround sound TV in the living room!
We will absolutely try to stay at this house again when we come back to Bar Harbor.
