This home is located in a spectacular gated community just 3 miles north of the center of Tesuque. With easy access to the freeway, the heart of Santa Fe is an easy and quick drive. Within this exclusive subdivision there is a pool open during the summer mos. as well as tennis courts. There are trails for hiking and beautiful country views. The minimum rental period is one month.
The house offers a lovely floor plan and is newly decorated. It has plenty or room for 4 people and affords privacy to each couple. This lovely home is situated on 7 acres with no other homes in view . By day you may hike for miles and by night sit on the patio beneath a canopy of countless stars.
The historic town of Santa Fe is about a 10 minute drive and offers an amazing amount of world class restaurants, art galleries, museums and exclusive shops. Just minutes away is the nationally renowned Santa Fe Opera. Also, located next to the opera is the Tesuque flea market, a shoppers dream.
Taos is a 1 1/2 hr drive. Other nearby sites include, Ghost Ranch, Chimayo, Madrid, Bandelier. It really is a Southwestern paradise.
The two of us have been lucky enough to spend time in and around 'The City Different' for the last 7 years. The land and its people continue to enchant us. Nearly everyday we are granted an amazing show of towering clouds sailing across a deep blue sky and the nights scatter the stars from horizon to horizon. Santa Fe offers culture in so many forms. Fine food, art and museums, American, Spanish, Mexican and Native American history all in one area. We hope that you will come to love the magic of Santa Fe just as we have.
The Owner purchased this house in 2002
The perfect combination of nature and culture.
We loved our stay at this picturesque home in a beautiful location. It is in a gated community up in the mountains, with quiet big open spaces for walking. Great views. It’s a 15 minute drive into Santa Fe either by highway or for a gorgeous back roads drive try Bishop’s Lodge Road. The house is well-appointed, very comfortable, beautiful art. The home could easily accommodate four people as the two bedrooms are spaced apart. We particularly enjoyed the Tesuque Village Market café, which is a five minute drive. The cafe has great food and a great ambience, and we also enjoyed Glenn Green’s Sculpture Garden next to it. Impressive art and garden! Our favorite excursions: for Georgia O’Keefe – Ghost Ranch (my favorite) and Ambique; Bandolier Park; Pecos National Monument; Earthships near Taos!;; drive back from Taos along the Rio Grande gorge!; and in Sante Fe -- Ten Thousand Waves for a Japanese garden experience and massage; museums esp. International Folk Art; walking tour of the town; Seret & Sons for Asian carpets and furniture; restaurants – Vinagrette, Paper Dosa, The Shed (downtown) for great Mexican.
It was a lovely home in a beautiful setting. The location was ideal for access to Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Taos, and many scenic sights. The house was comfortable and well appointed. I would go back.
The location of this house blew us away. The setting is exceptional in the beautiful foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The expansive views from the patio and the large picture windows in the living room, dining room and den are truly breathtaking - a pleasure to wake up to each day and enjoy while having morning coffee. We found the house to be very comfortable with its open layout and it was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. All the appliances are modern and clean and the gas barbeque, washer and dryer are brand new. To say there is so much to see and do in the area is an understatement. Santa Fe is only a 10 minute drive from the house and is full of unique museums, wonderful cafes and restaurants, historic buildings, interesting shops and art galleries. The plaza is always lively with buskers and vendors selling native artwork. Venture a little further and you can explore many amazing pueblo ruins, cliff dwellings, an historical ranch, a ghost town, picturesque villages, a super caldera and wonderful hiking trails. We attended a Feast Day at a local Pueblo and had the privilege to observe sacred dances. The house is centrally located to all the attractions in the area and it was lovely to return to this beautiful and tranquil property at the end of each day.
I wanted a nice, quiet place without traffic, noisy neighbors, or barking dogs, and this home filled the bill for allowing me to complete two writing projects during my month in the badlands north of Tesuque. This place is even lovelier than the pictures show. The pinions have come back after the bark beetle invasion, and there is a stunning view of the Santa Fe Opera House from all the front windows over the terrace. The Four Seasons Resort is just over the ridge for a deluxe restaurant and even well-marked hiking trails. There, Hans and Marge run Adventure excursions and can arrange any sort of special outing. Down in Tesuque there is also the more informal Village Market with terrific pizzas and home-made pies. The easy drive into Santa Fe brings you first on the right to the Santa Fe Spa, the only real gym in town, where everyone works out. In recent years I have spotted Daniel Craig, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Neil Patrick Harris pumping iron. You never know who you will run into in Santa Fe!
My husband and I are frequent visitors of New Mexico and needed a place for an extended stay (month of October) while we looked for property in Santa Fe. We happened upon this gem, nestled in the mountains just above Santa Fe and it changed our minds about living in the city!
This home is in a gated community on a large lot, about a 10-minute drive from Santa Fe. While we weren't able to enjoy the pool, tennis or clubhouse in the community because they were closed for the season, it didn't dimish our stay. Hiking was just outside our door and the Teseque Market was a three-minute drive away.
The house is designed perfectly for guests as the bedrooms are on either ends of the house with the kitchen and living space in the center. The kitchen was fully equipped and we easily found everything we needed. The home's decorating and furniture were comfortable and very tasteful, especially the artwork. The star gazing was like nothing we had ever seen before and nearly every night we enjoyed cozy fires in the kiva.
The house's owner was easy to contact and house's caretaker, lived in the community and was attentive when we had a few questions. We highly recomment this property.
I agree wholeheartedly with previous reviewers. This is a very nice house in a great area.
My wife and I had fallen in love with the Santa Fe area over the years. The mountains, culture and mild climate are a great change from our normal Texas summer experiences. However, our trips were generally no longer than a week or so.
This year we decided to try a longer stay. In the past, we had stayed near the plaza, which has it's own rewards in terms of getting around easily by foot. This time we were looking for more room, a kitchen (we love the local food, but eating out gets a bit tiresome, and expensive on a longer time basis), and an outdoor sitting area with a view.
It worked out great! I'll add that we were joined by another couple for a few days on two occasions during our stay, and the second bedroom/bathroom worked out very well.
We had no significant problems. There was a local caretaker who stayed in touch with us and helped with trash, recycling, watering, etc. The owner made us feel that he was available (by phone, email) to help solve any problem that might arise.
All in all - it was a truly lovely July stay!
To celebrate our retirement we chose to go to Santa Fe New Mexico for a month. The home was perfect and exactly what we expected from the VRBO listing. The photos are very representative of the rooms but don't do justice to the views. The home is spacious, well maintained, and very comfortable. We loved the location outside of the busy tourist areas but close enough for daily excursions to the city. We traveled all around to Taos, Los Alamos, Santa Fe National Forrest and Valles Cauldera easily. We had wonderful meals in Santa Fe and were only 5 minutes from the Opera. The neighborhood swimming pool was a huge benefit for us, as the temperatures were unseasonably high the first two weeks of our visit. We had a couple visit for a few days and the separation of the bedrooms and baths was very private. The owner was very helpful and the house manager available. We would definitely stay here again.
